Stephen P. Anthony — Partner at Covington & Burling LLP

Mr. Stephen P. Anthony is employed at Covington & Burling in the position of Partner. He is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, corporate internal investigations, and complex civil litigation. He has extensive experience in managing complex civil litigation involving commercial disputes, insurance coverage, business torts, and fraud allegations. His recent experience includes the defense of Bank One against claims of securities fraud and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with Bank One's role as co-placement agent and indenture trustee for $2 billion worth of asset-backed securities. Mr. Anthony received his bachelor's degree, cum laude, in 1983 from Dartmouth College, where he was a Rufus Choate Scholar and a Daniel Webster Scholar. He received his law degree in 1988 from Columbia University, where he was a James Kent Scholar, a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and the recipient of the James A. Elkins Prize in Constitutional Law. He was a Notes and Comments Editor of the Columbia Law Review and served as law clerk to Chief Judge Patricia M. Wald of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 1988-89.
