Steven E. Fagell is a Partner at Covington & Burling LLP. Mr. Fagell's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, white collar defense, and corporate investigations. Mr. Fagell has substantial experience litigating insurance, antitrust, false advertising, and other commercial disputes. In recent years, he has focused on litigating and advising public companies on D&O and fiduciary liability insurance claims in connection with large-scale securities and ERISA class action litigation. Total recoveries on insurance matters in which he has been involved exceed $150 million. Mr. Fagell has jury trial experience, and he has argued on behalf of clients in both trial and appellate courts. In his white collar practice, Mr. Fagell defended an individual in what has been described as the largest personal income tax evasion case in US history. He also has participated in numerous corporate investigations, and he regularly represents special litigation committees established by boards of directors to address and manage shareholder derivative litigation. Mr. Fagell is a member of the Edward Bennett Williams Inn of Court for white collar criminal lawyers.
