Thomas S. Williamson Jr. — Partner at Covington & Burling LLP

Thomas S. Williamson Jr., serves as a Partner of Covington & Burling LLP. From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Williamson served as a Solicitor of Labor for the U.S. Department of Labor. From 1978 to 1981, he served as Deputy Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Energy. From 1998 to 2002, he served as the Chair of the Texaco Task Force on Equality and Fairness. Mr. Williamson served as the President of Harvard University's Board of Overseers. He serves as a Director of National Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. He has been a Member of Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board at Sodexo, Inc. since September 2010. He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Since October 2002, he has been retained by the NFL as special advisor to the owners' Workplace Diversity Committee and the general managers' Working Group established to facilitate increased diversity in the head coaching and front office ranks of NFL clubs. Mr. Williamson is a Co-author of 'The Contingent Workforce, Business and Legal Strategies' (Law Journal Press 2000). He received a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, in 1968 from Harvard College; attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar from 1968 to 1969. He also earned a J.D. in 1974 from Boalt Hall, University of California at Berkeley. While at Harvard, Mr. Williamson was also selected as an All-Ivy and All-East defensive back.
