Mr. William R. Collins is currently employed at Covington & Burling in the position of Partner. He concentrates on mergers and acquisitions and finance. Recent assignments led by Mr. Collins include Calpine Corporation's $1.1 billion acquisition of Encal Energy, a Canadian natural gas and petroleum exploration and development company, as well as its acquisitions of SkyGen Energy, Cogeneration Corporation of America and Sheridan Energy. He has also overseen more than $10 billion in capital markets financings by Calpine, including a total of $7.25 billion in 2001. Other representative clients include the JFK Airport Cogen Project, Marubeni, Newmont Mining and PPL Corp. Mr. Collins received a J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University in 1985, where he was Managing Editor of the Albany Law Review. He received a B.A., with honors, from University of Virginia in 1982. He is the author of 'Equity, Consortia and Joint Venture Documentation,' Power Project Documentation, Second Edition, May 1999.
