Yes, as a female, closing the gender pay gap would be a start in the right direction. It is far easier for a male employee to get a option increase, promotion and pay raise than for a female. We are fare more likely to be verbally complemented than to receive any actual comp increase.

As a leader in the HR department and the person who signs off on every pay increase, I can say this is unequivocally untrue. Many females receive promotions and pay increases every single month and we use comp benchmarking tools to do so fairly.
