E. A. Lisa Kenkel — Partner at Fenwick & West

Ms. E. A. Lisa Kenkel is a Partner in the Intellectual Property Group and Chair of the Licensing and Online Commerce Group at Fenwick & West LLP. Her practice focuses on counseling clients regarding the creation and protection of intellectual property, structuring and negotiating joint-development, licensing and distribution relationships. She also advises clients on the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, and technology transfers. She has extensive experience negotiating technology transactions in the software and communications technologies industries. Ms. Kenkel has been involved in a number of technology mergers and acquisitions including VeriSign's acquisition of Network Solutions, VeriSign's acquisition of Illuminet, Exodus Communications' acquisition of Global Center, @Home's acquisition of Excite, Veritas Software's acquisition of Seagate Software, Corel Corporation's acquisition of the WordPerfect line of products from Novell, Inc. Prior to joining Fenwick & West, Ms. Kenkel has served as General Counsel of Corel Corporation, a developer of business and graphics software, Chief Operating Officer of a startup company specializing in Java enterprise software applications and previously was an associate with Blake, Cassels & Graydon in Ontario, Canada. Ms. Kenkel received her undergraduate education at Queen's University in Canada, graduating with a BA in biochemistry. She attended law school at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario, graduating with an LL.B. in 1988. Ms. Kenkel is a member of the Bars of California, New York and Ontario.
