Mr. Chi Zhang, also known as Eric, has been Managing Director and Head of China at General Atlantic LLC since joining in May 2016. Mr. Zhang served as the Global Partner and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group L.P., Carlyle Asia Buyout Fund II L.P., Carlyle Asia Partners IV and Carlyle Asia Partners III, L.P. Mr. Zhang focused on buyout and growth opportunities in Asia from 2006 to 2016 and is a part of the Corporate Private Equity funds segment at Carlyle where he joined in 2006. Prior to his joining Carlyle Group in 2006, he was the Vice President of the Investment Banking Division of Credit Suisse (Hong Kong) Limited. Mr. Zhang served as a Vice President of the M&A Group at Credit Suisse. He served as a Vice President of The Carlyle Group L.P. He served as a Vice President of the Investment-Banking Department at China International Capital Corporation Limited, where he worked for six years. Mr. Zhang spearheaded a number of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and IPO transactions, including Dongfeng Motors' H-share IPO and listing in Hong Kong; Industrial and Commerce Bank of China's restructuring and strategic placement to Investors Group; China Pacific Insurance Company's strategic placement to Investors Group; Suntech Power's acquisition of 100 percent of total shares of MSK (Japan) Corporation; Alcatel's acquisition of a controlling stake in Shanghai Bell; Emerson's acquisition of Avansys, Unilever's PRC joint ventures restructuring and acquisitions; and China Netcom's acquisition of assets from China Netcom Group. He has more than 15 years of investing experience in China across numerous sectors, including travel and tourism, retail and consumer and internet and technology, investment banking and capital markets. He has been a Co-Chairman of Mandarin Hotel Holdings Ltd. since July 2012. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Xiabuxiabu Catering Management (China) Holdings Co., Ltd. since August 23, 2017. He has been an Independent Director of 58.com Inc. since November 09, 2015. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Zhejiang New Century Hotel Management Group Co.,Ltd. since November 2007. He serves as a Board Member of Ocean Link. He serves on the Board of Ganji.com. He serves as a Director at Asia Buyout Fund of Carlyle Group. He served on the Boards of China Literature Limited (formerly known as China Reading Limited), Plateno Hotels Group (Vice Chairman), Crystal Orange Hotel Group (Co-Chairman), New Century Kaiyuan Hotel Group and AnNeng Logistics Group until 2016. He served as a Director of Fang Holdings Limited (formerly, SouFun Holdings Ltd.) from October 30, 2015 to May 2016. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Yashili International Holdings Ltd from October 8, 2010 to August 13, 2013. He served as a Non-Executive Director of New Century Asset Management Limited at New Century Real Estate Investment Trust from June 2013 to May 30, 2016. Mr. Zhang obtained his Bachelor degree in Economics from HeFei University of Technology in July 1997 and Master of Arts in Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China in January 2000.
