Mr. John D. Bernstein serves as a Managing Director, Co-Head of EMEA and Head of Europe at General Atlantic LLC. Mr. Bernstein served as the Head of EMEA at General Atlantic LLC. He joined General Atlantic on January 8, 2008 to head its European operations, which includes offices in London and Munich. He focuses on growth investment initiatives and is responsible for investments in the broader European market including Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, Turkey and the Middle East operations with a focus on Telecom, Technology, Financial Services and Business Services. Prior to joining General Atlantic, he served as a Partner at Advent International, where he led the European telecoms and technology investment practice. He focused on investments in communications and late-stage technology and buyouts globally. He joined Advent in 1995. Prior to Advent, he spent five years as a Partner at InterMatrix Group. From 1984 to 1989, he worked for SG Hambros Bank Limited, where he specialized in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions. He serves as a Director OF Kaspersky Lab ZAO, Cordena, Syniverse Technologies S.??r.l., AIRCOM International and Studio Moderna d.o.o. He has been a Non-Executive Director at FNZ (UK) Ltd since March 2012, Hyperion Insurance Group Limited since July 2013, Hyperion Insurance Group Limited since July, 2013 and Argus Media Limited since January 16, 2017. He serves as a Non-Executive Director of the MeteoGroup Limited and NamibRand Nature Reserve. He is a Member of the Africa Advisory Council of The Nature Conservancy. He served as a Director of Devoteam T&m Holding Limited, Tertio Telecoms Ltd., Axel Springer Digital Classifieds GmbH, Cybercity A/S, Orange Spain, Limited, Advent International Corporation and JacobsRimell Limited. He has publications and interviews in Management Today, Private Equity News and Private Equity Online. He has been an active investment professional in the private equity industry in Europe since 1995. He has extensive relationships with experts and advisors in the region. He has over 12 years of private equity experience and has invested in leading growth companies across Europe. He is qualified as a Barrister. Mr. Bernstein holds an M.A. in Economics and Law from Downing College, Cambridge University.
