Mr. John L. Pemberton has been Chief Administrative Officer, Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Southern Power Company since July 30, 2016. Mr. Pemberton has been Senior Vice President at Georgia Power Co. since July 1, 2012 and serves as its chief administrative officer and General counsel of Southern Power and served as its Senior Production Officer of Generation - Southern Company. Mr. Pemberton serves as a Senior Vice President and Senior Production Officer of Generation at Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. He is responsible for the its fossil and hydro generation. He served as Vice President of Governmental Affairs in Southern Company's Washington, D.C., office prior to his current role. Before joining Southern Company, he served as chief of staff for the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Air and Radiation, where he helped manage the office's efforts on several utility-related policy issues. Prior to joining EPA, Mr. Pemberton served as Republican Counsel and then Chief Counsel for the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He joined Southern Company in 2003 as Vice President of governmental affairs in Southern Company's Washington, D.C. office, where he managed the company's federal outreach activities. Mr. Pemberton is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and the Creighton University School of Law.
