I wish I joined a long time ago, had I known it was such a great company I would've saved me a lot of aggravation earlier in my career.
What unique perks and benefits does Gilbane Building Company provide?
Gilbane offers the best benefit package in the industry. The employer retirement contribution is extremely generous and doesn't require employees make a matching contribution. Medical premiums are really, really low. Employer HSA contributions are offered. Maternity leave is very generous and Gilbane offers a paid family leave benefit (for any FMLA-eligible leave) on top of it.
The family leave policy is one of the best in not just the construction industry but leads many industries, for both the mother and the father.

No job is secure. Economy not strong enough.
Very secure. Gilbane hires, yes for a need, but they invest in their people and won't let you go if they feel you have potential.

Don't work there. Wish I did. HR, Executive Management, Negotiations, Creative strategies & solutions, Diversity, and Communications are strengths.
My learning curve never ends; there is always something new about the company to sink my teeth into and learn more about.

Certainly the long hours are draining, I wish management allowed more comp time when the job needs drive extended hours.

The morale is high. This is certainly a tough business but the teamwork is incredible and I truly enjoy working with my amazing team.

Most operations team members work 7-5, 5 days a week. There is some Saturday work as needed but usually that rotates through the teams.
