  • If you see "Need Period Data" on your Apple Watch, but the data appears normal on your phone, this is likely a synching issue between the watch and the app. To try and fix this, double check that neither device is on "Do Not Disturb" mode. Close the app and reopen it or add something to your calendar. This should trigger a resync between the app and watch. Give it a few seconds to see if the resync happens.

Please refer to this Apple article for more help to resync.

  • The cycle length input is used by Glows algorithm to learn your baseline. However, this information is only used initially, and once you start to input actual cycle dates, Glow will use that data to predict your future periods.

Glow also doesn't use a straight average when predicting the cycle. The algorithm uses the average luteal + average follicular phase of your cycle history to make the next period prediction.

If youre wondering how your initial cycle length stacks up with your averages in Glow, go to Home > Calendar > List view. There, youll see the cycle lengths thatyou'vepreviously reflected in your start and end date inputs.

  • Currently there isn't a way to manually adjust ovulation on Glow, but the app will improve in it's ovulation predictions based on logs such as BBTs, OPKs, etc. For users with more irregular cycles, it may be better to turn off period predictions and just manually input your own cycles and use notes to keep track of potential ovulation. We are working on improving manual tracking for ovulation.

  • We changed the way the "late" period function works in the app based on user feedback. Instead of pushing the prediction forward by a day or so, if a period is late (based on Glows initial prediction), the app will grey out the prediction and wait until you manually input your period if/when it arrives. When you do so, your future predictions will return as well, as these are based on your confirmed period.

  • The Glow Algorithm takes into account these OPK logs, along with a slew of other data when it determines whether the ovulation window should change. If the peak OPK is logged outside of a certain window, the algorithm may not consider it when determining the ovulation prediction.

  • The most common cause of missing data is signing into a new account rather than your old one. This happens a lot when switching between apps -especially if you used different email addresses to log in with each app.

Double check that you're logging in with the correct email address or phone number- and if you're not sure, reach out to us at [email protected] and we can help track down your original account.

If you're very sure you're logged into the correct account, you can try forcing an account refresh:

For iOS users please go to your More page > Account Settings > Restore data from server.

For Android users, please sign out of the app and sign back in.

If the data is not there, please write a ticket into our support team at [email protected]. Please describe the type of data that seems to be missing (daily logs, cycle predictions, charts, etc) and provide a screenshot if applicable.

  • While we don't have a postpartum experience built into Glow yet, it is something we are actively looking into, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can use Glow by going into the "Me"/ "More" tab (on iOS, this is a tab at the bottom, on Android, it's the options menu on the upper left hand side of the home page) and going to "Settings." Scroll down and you'll see an option called "Period Prediction." Turning this option off puts Glow on manual. Glow won't try to make guesses about your period, or tell you that it's late - it will just wait for you to add info. When your periods become regular again, you can turn this option back on.

  • In Glow, your fertile window adjusts retroactively in response to your logs. These types of tracking are by nature "retroactive" in the sense that the temperature spike or the peak OPK result shows that you have ovulated the day before.

As you enter data into Glow, Glow uses it to calculate and adjust the fertile window to match what it has learned. The algorithm weighs all of the data you enter - periods, OPKs, BBTs- when making its predictions. Occasionally there is a conflict between the data, for example, an OPK may indicate you ovulated on one particular day, while your BBT indicates another, or you enter a period that makes it unlikely that the original prediction was correct. When that happens, the algorithm will calculate the most likely fertile window based on all the data together, and as a result, you may see the fertile window change.

This can definitely be very confusing, but it's all part of the process of the app working to incorporate your data to make the most accurate predictions possible. Glow needs to take your previous data into account to refine and improve your future predictions, so when these changes occur, you can think of it as Glow getting more and more well- informed about your unique cycle patterns!

  • At the moment we don't have a way of customizing logs. But this is something we'd like to add to Glow in the future. In the meantime, you can log this item in the notes feature on Glow.

  • Sorry for the confusion here! Though users are meant to move on to Nurture after they've conceived, the two apps calculate things a bit differently.

Glow uses the las menstrual period (LMP) as the start date of the pregnancy and counts forward. In Nurture, instead of using just the LMP, we are using Parikhs Formula to calculate the expected due date and using that due date to calculate gestational age.

    For reference:

Expected date of delivery (EDD) = Last menstrual period (LMP) + 9 months + (Duration of previous cycles - 21 days)

If you'd like the two apps to match up, you can edit the gestational ages in both apps. To change the pregnancy data in Glow, please go to your /More page > choose another status > edit pregnancy record and change the start or due date of the pregnancy. In Nurture, please go to your More page > baby profile and due date > edit the due date.

  • If the gestational age/duration of the pregnancy is not accurate, you can easily edit this by going to the More page in the app and click "My Baby's Profile & Due Date". Edit the gestational age by altering the baby's due date or changing the last menstrual period associated with the pregnancy.

  • Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your lowest body temperature in a 24-hour period. Basal thermometers are available at most drugstores. The best time to take it is when you first wake up in the morning. Before you even get out of bed to brush your teeth or start your day, pop a basal thermometer into your mouth. It's important to try to wake up and take this reading at about the same time each morning. Once you enter your BBT you will be able to see it in Charts in your Analysis tab. Please note that we use internal BBT and not skin temperature that is associated with trackers like Ava trackers.Basal body thermometers are available at most drugstores.

  • The fertility community very much has its own lingo. We have used several of these acronyms in Glow. Here they are in no specific order:

    TTC - Trying to Conceive

!TTC - Not trying to Conceive

DPO - Days Past Ovulation - used to keep track of the days of the luteal phase.

BBT - Basal Body Temperature - Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your lowest body temperature in a 24-hour period.

OPK - Ovulation Predictor Kits - These are test strips you can buy at a pharmacy that you use to determine when you are about to ovulate. Recently there are more advanced digital versions.

HPT - Home Pregnancy Test These are hormone tests that you can take at home to determine if you are pregnant.

CD - Cycle Day - indicates what cycle day you are currently on. CD 1 is the first day of your period.

CM - Cervical Mucus - Every woman produces cervical mucus. It is a discharge that can vary throughout the cycle. It can be tacky, sticky, egg white, and lotion like. It can be clear, white, and sometimes yellow tinged. Many women find the cervical mucus check to be the best way to predict ovulation.

EWCM - Egg White Cervical Mucus - The increase in estrogen around ovulation causes a female's body to produce an abundant amount of cervical mucus. This creates a sperm friendly environment that is ideal for conception.

LH - Luteinizing Hormone - This is the hormone that surges causing ovulation. It is what OPKs check for.

hCG - Human Chorionic Gonadotropin - This hormone is what a HPT tests for. It is the pregnancy hormone.

Luteal Phase Most women have a consistent period of time between ovulation and their period. This is identified as your luteal phase.

There are other acronyms you may see in the Community.

2WW: Two week wait (before testing, not always 2 weeks)
