Executive Bio

Mr. Christopher D. Young, also known as Chris, has been the President of Communication Systems at Harris Corporation since July 2015. Mr. Young is responsible for business strategy, financial performance, successful execution and growth for Communication Systems, which covers a broad portfolio, including tactical and airborne radios, night vision technology and defense and public safety networks. He served as Executive Vice President and President of Geospatial Systems at Exelis Inc. since 2011 and served as its General Manager of Geospatial Systems. Mr. Young was responsible for managing the Geospatial Systems division of Exelis, a global supplier of innovative remote sensing and navigation solutions providing sight and situational awareness at the space, airborne, ground and soldier levels. He served as the President and General Manager of ITT Space Systems Division at ITT Corporation since April 2006. He served as Vice President and Director for ITT Space Systems' Commercial & Space Sciences group in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 2003, he was named Director, Space Programs for ITT Aerospace/Communications Division. He served in a series of managerial and project engineering positions before he was named Director of Space Engineering for Aerospace/Communications Division in 2001, where he was responsible for all space engineering activities, including process quality and process improvements. He first joined Aerospace/Communications Division in 1982. He is a Member of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and the National Space Club. Mr. Young holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Ohio State University and has taken graduate studies in the Master of Business Administration at Indiana University.
