Aditya Puri — Managing Director & Director at HDFC Bank Limited

Mr. Aditya Puri hs been Managing Director and Director of HDFC Bank Limited since September 1994. Mr. Puri was the Chief Executive Officer of Citibank, Malaysia from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Puri has been the Managing Director of the Bank since September 1994. He has over 40 years of experience in the banking sector in India and abroad. In addition to providing leadership to the Bank, Mr. Puri has contributed significantly to enable the Bank. During fiscal 2017, Mr. Puri was named among the best 30 chief executive officers in the world in the Barron's list. During Mr. Puri's tenure, the Bank has made good and consistent progress on key parameters such as balance sheet size, total deposits, net revenues, earnings per share and net profit, which has resulted in the Bank being among the top ten banks as regards market capitalisation, profit after tax and balance sheet. Mr. Puri has led the Bank through two major mergers in the Indian banking industry, being the mergers of the Bank with Times Bank Limited and Centurion Bank of Punjab Limited. Furthermore, Mr. Puri's vision and strategy have been the driving force behind the Bank's foray into the world of ???digital banking??? that has resulted in the Bank rolling out several digital banking products such as ???EVA Webchat Bot???, ???UPI??? (Unified Payment Interface), ???10-second loans???, ???PayZapp??? and ???Chillr???. Mr. Puri has been the Non-Executive Chairman of HDB Financial Services Limited (which is one of the Bank's subsidiaries) since 1 May 2016. He holds a bachelor's degree in commerce from Punjab University and is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
