Dr. Dean W. A. McDonald, Ph.D., P.Geo., serves as the President of Rio Grande Silver Inc. Dr. McDonald has been Senior Vice President of Exploration at Hecla Mining Co. since July 2013. Dr. McDonald serves as the President at Burke Trading, Inc. He served as Vice President of Exploration at Hecla Mining Co., since September 1, 2006 until June 2013. He serves as a Senior Corporate executive with 24 years of experience in exploration and project evaluation and managed gold projects in Nunavut and Western Australia, including grassroots exploration, in-fill drilling and resource estimation with related scoping and feasibility studies. He served as Vice President for Exploration and Business Development of Committee Niblack Mineral Development Inc., (formerly Bay Resources Ltd.), from June 27, 2003 to August 2006 and his responsibilities included project management, evaluation and generation. He is experienced in all aspects of mineral exploration from grass roots programs through to feasibility studies, ore reserve estimations and has experience in operations. Dr. McDonald served as the President and an Exploration Manager of Miramar Mining Corporation, where he was responsible for managing exploration and development drill programs at the Hope Bay project, one of the largest exploration programs in Canada from 1996 to 2003. He worked at Miramar and Northern Orion Exploration Limited and coordinated projects throughout Latin America. Dr. McDonald served as a Superintendent of Technical Services at the Miramar Con Mine and was responsible for all geology and engineering activities including surface and underground exploration at the mine and its significant land holdings. Dr. McDonald worked in exploration and mining operations for several major and junior mining companies including Nerco Exploration Company, Nerco Minerals (Nerco Exploration Company), Westmin Resources, BP Minerals, BHP-Billiton and Noranda Minerals. He has been Director of Canamex Resources Corp. since July 30, 2013. He served as a Member of Technical Advisory Board of Kaminak Gold Corp., since December 11, 2006. He has received numerous academic and research awards and is widely published. Dr. McDonald holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from McMaster University in 1981 and an Master's degree in Geology on Base metal deposits at the University of New Brunswick in 1984. He completed a Ph.D. in Mineral Deposits Geology at the University of Western Ontario in 1990 and an M.Sc. in Structural and Mineral Deposits from the University of New Brunswick.
