Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from HELP Inc.?
Director of Marketing, COO and the CEO. I heard back the next day but I notice with a new position they are trying to fill it is taking a very long time. A lot of other issues have come up that have required attention so I think that is the hold-up. They’ve been interviewing some great candidates too...maybe they are having a tough time choosing.
Met with two of the executives. I heard back two days later. They have been taking more time recently, though. Sometimes up to 2 weeks.
What's the office vibe like at HELP Inc.?
Not sure how to answer. It’s pretty formal. Not a lot of friendly chatting.
While we all serve a difficult population, everyone gives 100%
What are your coworkers at HELP Inc. like?
Fine. Not overly friendly, though.
My co-workers have genuinely kind hearts!
What are you most excited about working at HELP Inc.?
It’s a non profit working to improve safety in the transportation industry, so it’s nice to work for a company with that kind of mission.
My supervisors are amazing!
What's the work from home policy like at HELP Inc.?
They do not have a policy but it is largely frowned upon. It’s available in emergency situations but don’t expect it for a regularly scheduled occurrence.
How secure do you feel at your job at HELP Inc.?
Pretty secure.
How's the work pace at HELP Inc.?
Bipolar. One day will be slow, the next totally crazy and rushed.
How much and how often do raises happen at HELP Inc.?
Not sure—haven’t been there long enough to get one yet and no one talks about it.
How do you feel about going to work at HELP Inc. everyday?
It’s a job. I’ll do my best and that’s all I can do.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at HELP Inc.?
Not too hard. The good thing is I leave work at the office so far. Hasn’t cut into my personal time yet.
What's the best part of your job at HELP Inc.?
Feeling like you are part of the company mission. Joking with the contract freelancers and regional directors when they visit.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining HELP Inc.?
That PTO is one bank of time (not separate sick and vacation), and if you get jury duty you need to use PTO or go unpaid. This is the first salaried job in my career with this policy.
How's the morale at HELP Inc.?
Just getting through the day.
How much diversity is there among employees at HELP Inc.?
Sadly, not very much. We could use some.
What's the office layout like at HELP Inc.?
A relatively small suite. Most employees are executives with offices. Only three (soon to be 4) lower-level employees are in cubicles/front desk.
What unique perks and benefits does HELP Inc. provide?
Paid covered parking. Health insurance covered for employee after 60 days. 401k after 6 months.
What's the vibe like in the Marketing dept at HELP Inc.? How many hours are you working?
There isn’t a distinct vibe. Kind of strict, I guess. You work hard, and you’re expected to get 8+ hours in a day, in your chair. Be ready to drop what you are doing and switch direction.
How's the leadership on the Marketing team at HELP Inc.?
Standard.
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at HELP Inc.?
It was pretty standard but a little too intimidating regarding formality. Hard to read the person who is interviewing me.
How long do the interviews usually take at HELP Inc.?
1-2 hours. A long time.
How do I do well in an interview at HELP Inc.?
Be professional and use the language in the job posting. Talk directly to your experience in those areas. Prepare well by researching the company and ask very specific questions.
How would you compare interviewing at HELP Inc. to other places you've interviewed?
A little tougher. More steps to take from the point of submitting resume to getting the offer.
What questions do they ask during the interview process at HELP Inc.?
It varies. Many standard questions but be prepared to answer questions related directly to items listed in the job ad.
What should I wear for an interview at HELP Inc.?
Suit. Be formal as possible.
What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at HELP Inc.?
I can’t remember but it was probably a “give me an example of a time when...” question.
