Executive Bio

Mary Jane Pearson, PhD, has contributed to “teacher preparation” for more than 30 years as Chair of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTCC); Co-author of the research on beginning teacher support and assessment that is the worldwide standard for new teachers: the Beginning Teacher Support & Assessment Induction Program; Appointed by the US president as regional representative, US Dept. of Education; and California Teacher of the Year. During her career, Dr. Pearson has been a classroom teacher, a professor at the University of Texas and California State University, and was the founding Chief Academic Officer for Community Education Partners, a school for at-risk students serving more than 80,000 students nationwide. As HotChalk’s Chief Academic Officer, she provides academic and thought leadership for programs such as the highly successful trauma & resilience for educators and a unique initiative to address the nationwide crisis in teacher attrition.
