How employees describe working at ICM Partners

Fun friends food all the timen

This was the worst job of my life. Do not ever take it a job here. The agents are horribly nasty people who mentally, emotionally and physically abuse their assistants and anybody else who is considered lower than they are. There is no growth within the company. It is horrible.

I regret working at this company. I have been treated poorly by supervisors despite my loyalty and skillfulness as an assistant. I have heard of several instances where bosses blocked their assistants from promotion for selfish reasons. For such a low salary ($15/hr starting) its not worth it.

  • When it comes to an assistant getting promoted to a coordinator, the department heads decide among themselves whom they think is most deserving. The process is very political, and usually isn't based on a person's qualifications.

  • The company recently implemented departmental reviews. However, the feedback isn't specifically tailored to any one person. They either like you or they don't, and this become clear after your first review. The advice they give is very generic and usually includes something like "read more scripts, go out on more drinks, we don't know who you are, etc." If you stick around long enough to get a second review, you will find they don't address what you've improved on, they will simply dangle a new carrot for you to chase in hopes of keeping you lingering around in their dwindling assistant ranks.

  • The assistant turnover is very high, with more assistants going out than coming in. As long as you don't bomb the interview, you are likely getting hired. Just come prepared with knowledge about the company and about the agency business. Read the trades and have a point of view about some recent entertainment news. Be poised, confident, and make good eye contact.

  • The only people that succeed at the assistant level are the ones who work for the department heads, at least in the Talent Department. And even then, promotions only happen every 1.5 to 2 years. Also, the internal politics are insane. People that are far less qualified get promoted because of who they are related. That being said, they value people who are loud, aggressive, and hard-working.
