Frequently Asked Questions About Ikan

  • To add another vehicle to your profile, begin the renewal process by selecting the "Renew a Vehicle Registration" option on iKan. You'll be prompted to search for the vehicle using its PIN + vehicle year, or the license plate + ZIP code, and then can follow the prompts to complete your payment. The vehicle registration will be stored in your account after the payment has processed.

  • Your license will not be renewed for 4-6 business days, as the Kansas Department of Revenue must wait to receive exam confirmation from your optometrist/ophthalmologist.

    A temporary license cannot be provided through the online renewal application.

    It will take 14-45 days for your new license to arrive in the mail.

  • Use iKan to renew your vehicle registration and pay vehicle property taxes online with a credit/debit card or linked bank account.

    Login

    To get started, create an account with your email address + password, Google, or Facebook, or select the guest login option. Creating an account will save your vehicle information in iKan, and expedite the process next time you renew.

    Locate your Registration

    Select the "Renew a Vehicle" option and search for your registration using either:

    License plate number + ZIP code

    Vehicle PIN + vehicle year

    The vehicle PIN is located on the registration postcard you received in the mail, and is available online.

    Complete Payment

    Review your registration summary and insurance information, and enter contact information for your renewal. Enter a payment method, and click "Submit." Select the final "Pay $ Amount" on your payment summary to process your renewal payment.

    Receipt & Tags

    After your payment is complete, you'll receive an email confirmation receipt, and a receipt will be stored in the Receipts section of your iKan profile. Click the profile icon in the top right-hand corner of your account, then select the Receipts tab to view all of your receipts for payments made through the app. If you need a new copy of your receipt, please email [email protected]. Your new registration will be delivered in the mail in 7-10 business days.

  • ACH payments can fail for several reasons, including typos in the bank account number, insufficient funds, or others.

    If you receive an email indicating your payment has failed, it will include a link to reset your payment information and resubmit the payment. You can also update your payment methods anytime on iKan by navigating to the profile in the top right corner of the screen.

  • Four types of vital records are available in iKan today.

    After downloading the app, you can choose from one of the four types of records below:

    Birth certificate

    Death certificate

    Marriage certificate

    Divorce certificate

    To order a vital record, you will have to verify your identity as the person who the certificate belongs to, or an immediate family member.

  • To change your address on your driver's license, you can use the Kansas Department of Revenue's Change of Address online form to update your address information.

    To change your address for your vehicle registration,go to your local county treasurers motor vehicle office with your updated drivers license, identification card or an official piece of mail (i.e. gas, electric, phone bill) for them to update your registration record(s).

  • If you receive a message that you are not a PayIt customer, it means that you created your account with the Facebook or Google sign-in option. Please select the "Continue with Facebook" or "Continue with Google" button to access your account.

    If you are locked out of your account, click " I forgot my password " on the login page to request a password reset link be sent to your inbox. You will receive an email titled "PayIt Account" from [email protected]. Use the password reset link it contains to create a new password to access your account with.

  • Save time and renew multiple vehicles with one transaction. To do this, go through the renewal conversation to add your first vehicle:

    After you enter your phone number, the next question is "Does everything look correct?"

    Select the "Add another registration" option.

    You will be taken to the beginning of a conversation to add another.

    You can do this as many times as you want.

  • If you did not receive your PIN in the mail, or have misplaced it, you can use this link to review the state's official renewal listing.

    Enter your license plate number.

    Select the "type" from the dropdown menu.

    Click the "search" button.

    Your plate(s) information will be displayed underneath the search.

    Click the blue button titled "Click to view your renewal notice."

    Your PIN(s) will be located on the second page of your renewal notice PDF. You may have to scroll down.

    Verify your vehicle renewal and insurance information to be sure it's correct.

  • Vital Records are delivered by mail or will call.

    Regular Mail

    If you choose shipping through regular mail, you will receive the certificate via USPS in 7-10 business days from the order date. Certificates are delivered via regular mail 7-10 business days after payment has been processed.

    Will Call

    You may also select Will Call,and you will receive an email when the certificate is ready to be picked up, usually within the same day or the following business day. Please note that the requestor must be the person that picks up the certificate, and a current, valid government issued photo ID is required for pickup. Please refer to your email receipt for specifics.

    Location for Will Call pickup is at the KDHE Office of Vital Statistics in Topeka:

    Suite 120, Curtis State Office Building, 1000 SW Jackson, Topeka, Kansas, 66612-2221.

    Walk-in Customer Service hours are 9:00am 4:00pm CT

    Telephone service hours are 8:00 am 5:00 pm CT, Monday through Friday, except holidays.

  • If you received an email noting your payment failed, use the the option it contains to reset your payment method.

    The cause of an ACH payment failure can vary. The most common reasons include an invalid account structure that was entered (most commonly a typo), or insufficient funds.

    Regardless of the reason, you will be given an attempt to reset your payment method.

  • To renew your Driver's License in iKan, you'll start by entering some information about yourself.

    Full name

    Date of Birth

    Driver's License number (example: K00-00-0000)

    After your license is found in the system, answer a short series of questions, then verify that you meet the following vision requirements:

    Have completed a vision exam by a Kansas optometrist or ophthalmologist in the last 12 months.

    Have 20/60 or better vision in at least one eye with or without corrective lenses.

    Agree to authorize The State of Kansas to request vision and medical info from your vision professional.

    Select the eye doctor who performed the vision exam in the State of Kansas.

    Next, you will be prompted to enter contact information that will be used in the event the State needs to contact you about your order.

    Lastly, you will be prompted to select whether or not you want to be an Organ Donor or if you want to Register to Vote.

    To finalize your submission, you will review the information that has been submitted and have the opportunity to make changes. You will then be prompted for payment information.

    This application is non-refundable.

    Your payment method will be charged and a receipt email will be delivered to your inbox. Your license will arrive in the mail within 45 days.
