Samer Halawi — Executive VP and Chief Commercial Officer at Intelsat

Mr. Samer Halawi is the Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Intelsat Corporation since January 2018. Mr. Halawi is responsible for leading it's global commercial operations, including the broadband, mobility, media, and government businesses, as well as the sales and marketing teams. He has tremendous experience and expertise with more than 20 years in business development, telecommunications and global satellite communications. Mr. Halawi served as Chief Commercial Officer of OneWeb LLC since April 1, 2017 until December 2017. Mr. Halawi served as the Chief Executive Officer of Thuraya Telecommunications Company since February 1, 2011 until March 23, 2017. Mr. Halawi was responsible for leading Thuraya's strategic positioning and driving its growth as a prominent global mobile satellite operator. He played a leading role in starting-up and growing a new venture involved in the digital space and focusing on mobile content, IPTV, mobile advertising and web management. Mr. Halawi held during an 8-year tenure various positions at Inmarsat in global strategy and running operations for the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. His other telecommunications experience relates to his roles at Flag Telecom and ICO Global Communications. His role at ICO followed a private placement for the shares of the company that he led during a three-year period he spent in investment banking in the Middle East. He started his career in the automotive industry where he occupied several positions with Chrysler Corporation and Ford Motor Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in the U.S.
