The account portal is your dashboardto see and assign licenses, add team members, andreview billing information.
LicensesIn the Licenses section, you'll find all licenses that are a part of your organization, when they expire and if they are assigned or available for assignment.
This section will be organized into two types of licenses, "Workstation Licenses" and "Single User Licenses".
Workstation Licenses:
Are registered directly to a computer and are shared by multiple individuals without the need for unique usernames.
To install you'll need download Prospect from irisvr.com/downloads and return to the portal to select "Register Workstation", where you'll be given a license key to add to your Prospect Library on your desktop.
If you have multiple Workstation licenses you may also name for example, "Conference Room VR Computer" or "Travel VR Laptop".
Single User Licenses:
Areassigned to an individual and are not shared.
To install Prospect, go to irisvr.com/downloads
Only the organization's owner or admin will be able to assign licenses to other users and get the workstation license key.
If you purchased a subscription directly through our website, you are the team owner. For licenses purchased through our sales team, the owner is selected at the time that your account is set up. If you need to adjust the team owner, please contact us.
Team
In the Team section, you'll be able to see who is a part of your account's team.
Account owner's and admins are able to invite others to join by clicking on the "+" on the top right corner. Here enter their email address and select their role, defined below:
Member is only able to view information related to the licenses they've been given access too.
Team Admin will be able to see all information for the account, except billing details. They will also be able to invite others to the team, but not change the existing users' roles.
Team Owner is the highest access role and will be able to see all license information, billing details, assign licenses and adjust other user's roles.
In this section, you are also able to remove a user from the team. When a user is removed from a team, their username and password will still be valid but they will not be a part of your team or have access to any licenses.
Billing
Owners are the only ones with access to this section for security reasons. Within the Billing tab you'll be able to see the cost of your current and past subscriptions, renewal dates, update the credit card on file and billing contact details.

Settings
Under "Personal Settings", each individual can adjust their contact details as well as change their password.Owners will have the ability to update their company's information under "Company Settings", including adding your company logo.
Customers who are on the Workstation subscription can upload a logo here which will then appear within the desktop Prospect Library.

Because we continue to build out cloud-first Prospect features, we have engaged with a third party security consultancy to help us ensure that privileged data is secure and help us work towards ISO 27001 compliance.
However, its important to understand that when you use the collaboration features of Prospect - or use Prospect with the Oculus Quest - our cloud system is leveraged for data transfer.
Data transfer to our cloud system is always encrypted. Our binary file format is proprietary, and cloud-hosted files can only be seen by another user of Prospect if they are authenticated and have appropriate access rights.
In case the nature of your work prohibits the use of a cloud environment entirely, we still want to find a way to support your use of Prospect. Please email [email protected].
FAQ:
Can I use Prospect without syncing my file to the cloud?Yes, but your capabilities will be limited. You can use the Prospect desktop library without syncing your file to cloud, but you will not be able to use the collaboration and meeting features. You also would not be able to view your file using an Oculus Quest headset.
When I collaborate with someone, am I giving them my file by syncing to the cloud?As a Prospect user, you own your files and can control who can access them. If you invite another person to collaborate, you will have to enter their email address or provide a share code. This does not give that person the file; rather it allows them to see it in Prospect. They would not be able to download the file and bring back into the native software platform it was created in (such as Revit).
How often is Prospect updated and how are updates authorized?We release new versions of Prospect roughly every 6-8 weeks. We do not force updates; when we release an update you will be prompted to auto-update. New versions automatically write over old versions when installed, but all files in your library will be maintained.

Choose the viewpoint you'd like the panorama to be rendered from using the viewer in the top right, and then "set" that viewpoint using the camera icon above the filmstrip at the bottom of your screen
Once you've set up all of the viewpoints that you'd like to render, select the "VR Panorama" button on the right side of the screen
In the "Panorama Settings" screen the will display, ensure that "Stereoscopic" is toggled to "On" and that the "Target Device" is set as GearVR / Oculus. This setting will work with Scope, regardless of which viewer you are actually using. If you want to make sure that the viewpoints you've set are correct, you can use the "Draft" quality for a faster render, otherwise make sure that the quality is set to "Production". Click the "Start Rendering" button on the bottom right to start rendering your files and save them to your computer.If you prefer to render an equirectangular image rather than a cubemap, you can do so by selecting "Generic VR Device" as the target device. The process for uploading the equirectangular image is the same as the GearVR format cubemap.

View ArticleUser height accuracy in virtual reality is a critical component to success when using Prospect.
Because Prospect relies on the information provided by your headset to establish your height in VR, it's very important that you calibrate the headset whenever it has moved locations. For example, if you pack your Oculus Rift to travel, you'll need to recalibrate when you next use it.
Depending on which type of virtual reality headset you are using, you will have different options for setting the users height and calibrating it for accuracy. See below for where to find these settings.
HTC Vive
The HTC Vive asks users to locate the floor during the Room Setup procedures. It then calculates user height based on the distance between the floor and the tracked height of the HMD.
OculusRift
During the setup procedures for the Oculus Rift CV1 system, users are asked to input their height, and later during set up, the sensor is used to track the HMD and register user eye height. Be aware that if you runthe setup while sitting and then use the headset standing the calibration will be off.
Inside of Prospect
If after running the calibration, you find that you feel shorter/tallerthan you expect, the next step is to check that the 3D model has come in at the right scale.
This can be quickly confirmed by either of these methods:
(1) Create a 4'x4' cube in the original 3D file, bring into Prospect then using the Tape Measurement tool confirm that the cube is also 4'x4'.
(2) Within your 3D file, confirm thedimension of an object or surface and then within Prospect using the Tape Measurement tool to confirm the same dimension.

What To Avoid
Any laptop featuring Optimus Technology, particularly for users who own or intend to utilize an HTC Vive headset.
The Asus ROG G752 laptop, due to feedback on it not detecting the HTC Vive headset.
Any Alienware desktop or laptop computers, we consistently troubleshoot and have reports of unreliable performancestemming from inadequate power supply units, driver issues, and/or BIOS settings that require additional manual setup.
*HTC Vive Pro Users:The Vive Pro connects to your computer using a DisplayPort cable rather than the HDMI cable used by the regular Vive. Confirm that your computer has the necessary ports to connect to the Vive Pro, as we have received feedback that the headset may not be detected when an adapter is used to connect the headset to your computer.

Make sure that V-Ray is set as your current rendered by going into the Render menu, then to Current Renderer. This will cause the V-Ray toolbar to appear. here
Open the Asset Editor andset the camera type to "VR Cubemap"
Toggle the "Stereo" selector on. If this is disabled, make sure that you're not using the Interactive renderer by toggling that selector off in the "Renderer" panel of the Asset Editor
Set the image height to "1536". This will automatically adjust the width to 6 times the height, for each side.
Set the Output Layout to "Side - By - Side"
Select the setting to save the image, and choose a path for the saved file
You can adjust the quality of the render using the "Quality" selector in the "Renderer" panel, keeping in mind the added time required for higher quality renders, especially on less powerful machines
Click the teapot icon to begin the render.

View ArticleOne of the biggest technical challenges of VR is delivering content at a high enough frame rate to accurately "trick" the user into believing he or she is experiencing the external world. Studies have shown that in practice, any VR setupthat generates frame rates below 90 frames per second (FPS) is likely to induce disorientation, nausea, and other negative user effects. The lower the frame rate, the worse the effects.
Thus, the goal for VR developers is to target 90 FPS at all times in their software. On the hardware side, this means that usinga VR headset like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive requires thehigh processing and rendering capabilities of a"VR-Ready" PC, which mostly boils down to a powerfulgraphics card (GPU).
To ensure a realistic and comfortable experience, Iris strongly recommends that users run Prospect on a PC that meets our recommended specifications. A list of suggested VR-ready machines is provided.
Note: In October 2016, Oculus introduced a technology that interpolates intermediate frames, which the company says will allow users to run its software on less powerful computers. This is exciting newsfor consumer VR. However, since Prospect requiresexceptionally strong3D model renderingcapabilities, Iris is maintaining the same recommendedhardware requirements for users of the Oculus Rift (and the HTC Vive, which currently has no such interpolation feature).

The Prospect plugin for Rhino supports the surfaces, polysurfaces, extrusions and meshes in your design. Some of these objects can become a little bit problematic and here we present a few tips to make sure your model is ready for VR!
Fixing your model
Sometimes an object in Rhino is composed of one or more invalid geometries. If this is the case, the object will not be shown in Prospect.You can fix what Rhino defines as Bad Objects, following the steps found here.
The key command isSelBadObjects.
Even when you have no bad objects, make sure to runCheckMesh.
The commands to fix the mesh are:
ExtractDuplicateMeshFaces
ExtractNonManifoldMeshEdges
CullDegenerateMeshFaces
UnifyMeshNormals
For meshes in your project, you can fix the normals with the commandsUnifyMeshNormals tochange the normal direction of the faces so they all point in a consistent direction, RebuildMeshNormals to remove mesh normals and reconstruct the face and vertex normals based on the orientation of the faces,and Flip to reverse them.
One-sided materials
Rhino renders materials on both sides of each face that makes an object. In Prospect, we render materials on both sides onlyfor non-closed objects. For closed shapes, Prospect renders the materials on the outer side. If you load a closedpolysurfaceand navigate to the inside, the object will look transparent to you - the material is being rendered on the outer side only, this is automatically calculated by the Prospect engine.
Displaying 2D text
If you want to display 2D text in Prospect, you can use Text to create a tag and then use the commandsExplodeand PlanarSrf to make the worlds into surfaces. These surfaces will be exported with your project.

Faster and easier collaboration We've taken steps to make collaborating with Prospect easier than ever. Now, instead of needing to manually export and share a meeting file, you can simply invite collaborators to join any file in a synced project.
Inviting Collaborators You can invite collaborators in one of two ways:
Direct invites By clicking the "Add a collaborator" button in the file menu, you can select from any individuals or Workstations within your organization to invite them to collaborate. You can also invite anyone outside your organization directly via email. Invitees will receive email notifications noting that they've been invited to collaborate. When an invitee's library syncs, they will see the file appear in the "Shared with Me" section of their library.
Public Sharing Alternatively, you can also turn on Public Sharing for any file. This will generate a 6-digit alpha-numeric code that any user or guest of Prospect can enter in Prospect on Desktop or Oculus Quest to collaborate.
Please note: Non-registered users of Prospect as well as Prospect Basic users will only be able to collaborate if invited via a join code
Removing Collaborators You can revoke access from any collaborator on your files by
hovering over their name in the collaborators list and clicking "Remove" if they've been invited via email
by toggling off Public Sharing for collaborators who have joined with a join code (toggling Public Sharing back on will generate a new join code)
Viewing your own shared files Files with invited collaborators will remain in the project where you place them. Their collaborative status will be noted a multiuser icon in the file row as well as the file detail view.
Viewing files that have been shared with you Files that others have shared with you will appear in a "Shared with Me" section just below your project list.
What happens to my old Meetings? If you've been a Prospect user before this release, any Meetings created prior to 2.8 will still be available to you in a "Legacy Meetings" tab, though you will not be able to create new Meetings with the former flow.

Collaborate on Quest You can now collaborate on Prospect for Oculus Quest!
Viewing your own shared files Files with invited collaborators will appear within the project you've placed them. They will be noted with a multiuser icon in the file grid.
Viewing files that have been shared with you Files that others have shared with you will appear in a "Shared with Me" section just below your project list.
Guests can join on Quest too From the logged out view within the Quest, you can click the "Enter Join Code" button in the right-hand panel, enter the code you received from the host, and you'll be on your way.
File detail panel Now, rather than launching directly into an experience from the file grid view, you'll be brought to a file detail panel.
Currently this includes an Info tab with basic file details and a Collaborate tab to be able to see the list of other collaborators. We'll be continuing to add more information and functionality to each of these going forward as well as some additional tabs.

New, more spacious Scale Model Mode environment Taking into account your feedback, we updated Scale Model Mode to be more a more spacious environment to promote easier and more effective collaboration with your team.
Improved model interaction and scaling in Scale Model Mode We've improved the experience of scaling and rotating models to make it feel more natural. Additionally, model scaling is no longer dictated by the size of the Scale Model Mode environment. Instead:
Models in which the longest dimension is <1m will be able to be scaled to 10:1

Project-based file organization We've released the ability to organize files into Projects for Pro, Pro Plus, and Team customers. All files imported prior to this release will be located in a folder called "Unsorted Files." From there, you can drag and drop your files into projects
Oculus Quest support Prospect for Oculus Quest is now available to Pro and Pro Plus customers. If/when you have an Oculus Quest, s ign up here to receive an access code and learn more.
Synced projects To facilitate file delivery to standalone devices like the Oculus Quest, we've released the ability for Pro and Pro Plus customers to sync projects via the web. Once a project is synced it will be available on any device with which you log into Prospect.
Known Issues
Desktop Library -IVZ/IVM export from synced files is not yet supported-Due to infrastructure changes necessary for syncing files across devices, IVZ and IVM export is not yet available for files in synced projects.
Oculus Quest Because the Oculus Quest is a standalone device and does not leverage the power of a PC it has limited processing power. Because of this, there are a handful of differences between the Prospect experience on Desktop vs. the Oculus Quest.
Large files may struggle We'll continue to improve Prospect's performance on Quest, but the hardware itself will always be less powerful than a desktop VR solution. If you're working with files with large amounts of geometry and you're using a Quest, we recommend exporting smaller section box views to Prospect.
360 Panorama capture is not yet supported We'll be working to provide 360 panorama capture on Quest as soon as possible.
Quest Meetings are not yet supported Look out for collaborative experiences coming to Quest along with other improvements to our Meetings system in the coming months.
Reports are not yet supported We still have some work to do to make Report Quest compatiblelook out for cross-device Reports support in the coming months.

Frame rate improvements with mesh decimation -We're now optimizing elements with high mesh density in our pre-processing engine to improve framerate performance and stability in VR. You shouldn't notice any difference with how your files look, but the experience in them should be smoother than ever.
Dynamic far clip plane calculation -If you've ever loaded a file into Prospect with a very large area, you may have noticed that we clipped the visible extents on the horizon as you moved about the experience. We've now implemented dynamic calculation of this clipping distance, so you'll always be able to see the furthest extents of your file while still enjoying high performance.
Reduced Z-fighting in the menu in large files -We know that there was quite a bit of Z-fighting in the in-VR menu in very large files, so we made improvements to significantly reduce this.
SketchUp, OBJ and FBX processing improvements -These files will now import faster and with a higher quality end result.

We fixed a bug in which avatars' pointers in Meetings were sometimes cast at the wrong angle for other users
We fixed a bug in which the sphere at the end of the laser when using the Section tool sometimes appeared offset from the laser
We fixed a bug that, if the Section tool was active, would cause the section plane to move as the model was moved or rotated.
We fixed an issue where SketchUp elements that were not properly grouped were ending up on many layersany ungrouped elements will not only appear on the default layer.

[Prospect Desktop Launcher] - Navisworks, meet Prospect. With this release, we've included an all-new beta integration with Navisworks. After installing V2.3, you'll see an IrisVR Plugin appear in a new "IrisVR" tab in Navisworks. Click this button to bring your project over to Prospect.
[VR Window] - Automatic door fade. Open door policy now in effect. Even if you import a model with the doors closed throughout, you can now simply aim your teleportation path at any appropriately named/categorized door, and the door will fade out, allowing you to navigate freely through it. In No-Headset mode, doors won't get in your way eitherdouble click on any door to teleport through.
[VR Window] - Hide Elements. Now you see it, now you don't. Enjoy more nuanced control over your model's visibility with the ability to hide individual elements via the Inspect Element menu. Select any element to hide or unhide it at will, or bring back all hidden elements with the "unhide all" button.
[VR Window] - Meeting hosts. Take charge of your meetings. Meeting hosts now have more power to guide the conversation in a meeting with the ability to mute other meeting participants on an individual or group basis using the mic icons in the Meetings menu. Additionally, meeting hosts now have the sole ability to bring along all participants to a viewpoint or gather all users to their location.

[VR Window] - Section cut line weight. Sections as you'd expect to see them. ****For improved legibility when sectioning your models in Scale Model Mode, you'll now see black caps and outlines on any geometry being sectioned.
[VR Window] - Mute in meetings. Whether or not you're a host in a meeting, we've added the ability to mute yourself. Click the mic icon next to your name to turn your mic on and off.
[VR Window] - Dynamic teleport cursor without a headset. We realized that it wasn't always evident in No-Headset Mode where you could teleport within a model, so we've added a contextual cursor to provide some clarity. Whether in Scale Model or Real-Scale Mode, you'll see a target appear with your mouse when you hover over any geometry to which you can teleport.
[Prospect Desktop Launcher] - Faster file processing. We've made some very exciting improvements under the hood to how we process your files for VR. You should see newly imported files process faster and more reliably than ever.

Known Issues
Viewpoints in IVZs exported from older versions of Prospect will have Sun Settings of midnight on January 1st.
Only the first 100 viewpoints will be shown in the desktop library to prevent performance issues. However, all viewpoints will be accessible in VR.

[VR Window] - We noticed that sometimes interior spaces were being cast with light that felt a little bit too blue, so we decreased the saturation of the global reflection probe to reduce this effect while keeping exterior spaces feeling largely the same.

InstallationIf you have never installed Prospect before on your Windows desktop machine, please go to irisvr.com to create an account anddownload the software. The steps below are intended for users on the Prospect Basic, Pro and Pro Plus tiers.
1. Download the IrisVR ProspectApp
Go to irisvr.com/downloads, sign up,and click "Download Prospect"
Close any 3D modeling applications (Revit, Rhino, Navisworks, etc.) that may be open on your machine
Once downloaded, double-click on ProspectSetup.exeto begin the installation process.
Select which plugins you'd like to use with Prospect and click Install
steps in this article.
2. Launch the Software
Log in with your username (email) and password, or continue as a guest
If you're on a Workstation Subscription, enter your Workstation Key (this can be accessed by your Admin in the IrisVR Account Management Portal )
Begin using Prospect by importing a file into the Project Library.

Plugin updates
As the plugins for Revit, Rhino, and Navisworks are installed concurrently with Prospect, you will need to re-install Prospect and check off the appropriate software should you upgrade your version. This is not necessary for OBJ, FBX or Sketchup files as they do not utilize a plugin.
If you neglected to close these applications during the installation process, simply close them, close Prospect, then relaunch Prospect; the add-ins will install automatically.

Our Pro Plus, Pro, Basic, and Scope subscriptions are based on a per-user model, where the subscription is tied to a unique email and password that is not to be shared amongst a team.
If you have a laptop and a desktop and want to have Prospect installed on both for personal use - this is perfectly acceptable for a Pro, Pro Plus, or Basic subscription, so long as you are the sole user of both machines. For any questions on this policy, please review our terms of use.
If you intend on having multiple team members using a shared or central VR computer - this is where a Workstation license is right for your needs.Workstations are not tied to an email and don't need a password to be accessed. They're registered once by a team admin with a workstation key, and Prospect is then accessible on that PC for everyone in your organization to utilize.

The Prospect installer allows the option of installing for all users on your Windows machine. If you'd like to have multiple instances of Prospect, each with their own unique libraries for different members of your team - you should select this option upon installation.
Every member of your team with a Windows profile on that computer can then make use of the Windows login, not a prospect login, to have their own instance of Prospect.

Constraints:
Requires tracking base stations to be mounted on a wall or set on tripods. Not great for portability, but if you purchase lightweight tripods it's easy enough to set up for events and conferences, see links above.
Glass and reflective surfaces can sometimes throw tracking off. This is typically resolved by pluggingin the provided sync cable.
HTC Vive Pro Information
Prospect will work with the Vive Pro, but there are a few things to keep in mind when deciding between the Vive and the Vive Pro:
Because the Vive Pro has higher resolution displays, you may experience a lower frame rate, especially with larger or more complex models.
The Vive Pro connects to your computer using a DisplayPort cable rather than the HDMI cable used by the regular Vive. Check to make sure that your computer has the necessary ports to connect to the Vive Pro, as we have received feedback that the headset may not be detected when an adapter is used to connect the headset to your computer.
Due to DisplayPort requirement and increased demand on hardware, we would recommend the Vive Pro only for a desktop VR station, not for use with a laptop/mobile VR setup.

Prospect does not support native Solidworks files however if you have Rhino installed on your computer you can easily import your part and assembly files via our Rhino plugin.
1. Open Rhino, then File > Import
2. Select your part(s) or assembly. Multiple individualSolidworks files can be brought into the same Rhino file
3. Select the following Import Options: "Import parts as blocks", "Map Solidworks Y to Rhino Z", and "Always use these settings"
4. After your files are loaded, click the Prospect 'View in VR' button
5. Your file will process and then open in your Prospect desktop library. Select the file and launch into VR.

If you are using a 3D software that we don't provide direct support for one workflow is to export the 3D model as an FBX file. Prospect supports FBX files but we always recommend using our native plugins whenever possible.

View ArticleBeginning with Prospect version 2.6, we've introduced Projects and Syncing. With these features, you now have the ability to sort and organize your Prospect Library based on Project folders that you create and name. You then have the option to sync Projects for access across multiple devices and headsets.
Important Notes:
Your files are hosted locally by default and only sync if the "Sync Project" option is selected.
Oculus Quest is a mobile device, and as such it does not have the same capabilities/power as PC-Powered VR. It is intended to work with smaller, less complex, files.VR.Read more about these considerations here: Getting started guide
Currently, only Pro and Pro Plus licenses support the Oculus Quest standalone device.

Creating a Project
To create a new project, simply click the plus button next to My Projects in your desktop library, enter a project name and click Create Project. Youll see the project appear in the panel to the left.
Adding files to a Project
You can add new files to Projects* in one of two ways depending on the file source.
For SKP, OBJ, FBX, and IVZ files you can drag and drop a file(s) into a Projects center file area or use the blue + button to select a file(s) from your file browser.
For Revit, Navisworks, or Rhino files use the plugins that install in those programs alongside Prospect. Once the plugin sends the file to Prospect you will be prompted to choose or create a new Project in which to import the file.
Moving files between Projects
To move files between Projects you can simply drag and drop from one Project to another.For existing users, all previously imported files will appear in the "Unsorted Files" section.
Note that you cannot add or return a file to "Unsorted Files" but you can create a newProject folder and name it "Unsorted", "Miscellaneous", etc, to suit this purpose if needed.

Renaming and Deleting Projects
To rename or delete a Project, first open the Project then click the downward facing arrow to the right of the Project name.
Note that deleting a Project that has been "synced" will delete the Project across all devices. More on this below.
The arrow next to the Project name allows you to rename or delete a Project.
Syncing Projects Across Devices and Machines
What is Project syncing and how can it help me?
Synced Projects keep your files up-to-date across various machines and devices. After a Project has been synced it will be accessible from any computer that is logged into Prospect. Additionally, if youre planning to make use of standalone devices like the, syncing a project will allow you to access those files on your standalone device.
Syncing and Unsyncing a Project
You can sync/unsync a Project using the "Sync Project" button just beneath the Project name. Once a Project is synced, it will be available on all of your devices and machines
Unsyncing a Project -If you unsync a Projectit will be removed from the Quest and stored locally on the computer you performed the unsyncing from. You will no longer be able to access this Project on another computer or standalone headset.
Deleting a synced Project - If you delete a synced Projectit will be deleted from the Quest, all other machines, as well as the machine you are deleting it from. It will not remain stored locally on the computer.
Notes
To ensure that updates to a file sync correctly, make sure you close the Viewer on the desktop (or in the Quest) after you're done viewing a file.

If you find that parts of your model are flashing in VR, this is likely due to coplanar geometry fighting to be rendered in Virtual Reality. Using VR to explore some of your files, you might have experienced some flickering as shown in the gif below. This is called Z-fighting and it occurs in 3D rendering environments when two or more geometries share the same space. The engine struggles to render one over the other since they have coplanar faces.

What does the Z-fighting reduction feature do?There is a portion of our file conversion process, located in the global settings menu*, that is dedicated to detecting flush faces from Revit, SketchUp, Navisworks, or Rhino and adjusting them slightly to ensure that no geometry will cause rendering errors. As a result, your geometry will appear clearly in VR.
*Please note, changing this setting in the global settings menu will apply to any new files imported and processed, but does not apply retroactively to any previously processed files.

Why should I apply Z-fighting reduction (toggle on)?By applying the Z-fighting reduction, the likelihood of flickering occurring will be minimized. Another way to improve the VR experience is to model objects slightly separated from each other, when possible, in Revit, SketchUp,and Rhino.

When would I disable Z-fighting reduction (toggle off)?Occasionally this correction process can cause less than ideal results, such as offset or floating walls, furniture or similar geometry. If you happen to notice any floating geometry simply close out of the present experience, then process the file again with Z-fighting correction disabled and this offset will be corrected.

View ArticleViewpoints is an easy way to curate a walkthrough of your model in VR andare accessible from the Desktop Menu, in-VR menu and during multiuser Meetings. Selecting a Viewpoint will transport you to that spot, and if in a Meeting you have the option of bringing other participants with you.
You'll create Viewpoints within your source 3D platform such as Revit or SketchUp (see below for instructions), or within the VR experience itself.

In the Prospect Library, select your file to view any set Viewpoints in the right panel. Here you can adjust which Viewpoints are on/off and their order in VR. Please note that if your file has more than 100 Viewpoints, only the first 100 will be displayed in the Prospect Library.

Transition Options
Customize the transition while moving between Viewpoints with the toggles in the file panel. Settings applied in the Default Settings, will apply to all files in your Prospect Library except those files that have been manually adjusted.
Creating Viewpoints in VR
You can save Viewpoints while in VR by going to the Viewpoints menu, then clicking "Save New". Please not that this option will not show if you are already on an existing Viewpoint. Once you have saved a Viewpoint, you can rename and reorder it within your desktop library. Your saved Viewpoints will persist within your project, but will not be available if you re-import the file to your library and create a new experience.
Viewpoints created in VR will maintain any settings that were adjusted at the time of Viewpoint creation. For example, adjusting the sun settings will result in them being saved for that Viewpoint. This means that you can also take Scale Model Mode viewpoints, and the position / sectioning of the model will be retained.

SketchUp -Prospect Viewpoints are created using the Scenes in your SketchUp file.

Open your file in Revit.
Create or open a 3D view of the portion of the model you would like to view in VR. Prospect loads only the geometry that is visible in the current 3D view, this includes abiding by crop boxes and elements hidden via visibility/graphics. Learn how to optimize your file here.
With your 3D view selected & open, Navigate to Add-Ins >View in VR.

Select Desired 3D Views & Properties
Select any 3D views you would like to import as Viewpoints in the pop-up window.
The Properties tab gives the option of configuring which BIM metadata you would like to import. The default option is to import all type and instance properties.These settings will apply to future exports until/unless it is reconfigured.
Click 'Start Processing'.
When the export completes, Prospect will pop up and prompt you to add the file to a new or existing Project folder. (Except Prospect Basic users).
Your file is ready to review in VR!
File Specific Settings
Materials and TexturesSettings Supported:diffuse color, diffuse texture, image fade, transparency, and tint of Autodesk Materials, as well as physically based materials introduced with Revit 2019.
For physically based materials from Revit 2019+ to be exported, check:
Manage tab > Materials > Select desired material > Graphics tab> Shading dropbox > Check "Use Render Appearance"
Settings Not Supported: reflectivity, self-illumination, bump-maps, and relief patterns.
To see an accurate preview of how your materials will appear in IrisVR, open up the Revit Material Browser and navigate to the "Appearance" tab.
Prospect supports a level of detail in-between "Medium" and "Fine" and brings in materials similar to how they would appear in the "Realistic" setting.
LayersSimilarly to DWG or DXF, Prospect uses the American Institute of Architects Standard to map Revit Categories and Subcategories to layers.
Object PropertiesAll type and instance properties available within Revit are accessible in VR.
Use the tool to access this BIM metadata for any geometry within your project. (BIM metadata available for Revit files exported via plugin with Prospect v2.4 or newer)
LinksProspect supports linked Revit files and will include them if they are part of the Revit 3D view. Please note that Prospect works best with local files, so if you are having issues loading, try to detach from central and save locally.

View ArticleOur Windows Mixed Reality support is currently in beta, and made possible through the Windows MR for SteamVR early access software.
1. Make sure youre on the latest version of Windows 10
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update. Select Check for updates.
Please note, these updates may take a significant amount of time, please keep this in mind before starting the update process.
2. Install Steam if it's not already on your PC.
3. Install SteamVR via Steam: Library -> Tools -> SteamVR -> Right Click to Install

4. Install Windows MR for SteamVR (only for the first time set up):
It may be beneficial to unplug any other headsets you have installed on your system, i.e. Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.
Follow the on-screen instructions for download, installation and set up.
After installation has finished, plug in your headset - this will bring up an on-screen guide that will help walk you through any remaining setup steps.
Once the headset is set up, you will need to run through the in-HMD tutorial prior to proceeding further.
For the best experience, use the "set me up for all experiences" option when setting up your headset.
5. Make sure Prospect is installed if you havent done so already.
If it doesnt start automatically, run SteamVR (click the VR button in the top right-hand corner of Steam).
6. Proceed with using Prospect as usual.
SteamVR will automatically start and Prospect will run on the HMD. If youdon'tsee Prospect, but rather see the Windows MR Home, you may need to select the SteamVR panel within Windows MR Home.
If Prospect doesnt launch in your MR headset after first installing the above components, please try restarting your machine.

When using a Windows MR headset in a Multiuser session, please make sure to have your headphones plugged into the headset prior to opening and launching Prospect.
If youre using a desktop or laptop that does not have Bluetooth functionality built in, youll need to purchase a Bluetooth adapter for pairing the controllers.
The motion controllers included with MR headsets are necessary to utilize Prospect at this time.
The Hololens is a self-containedAR headset, not part of the Windows MR line, and is not supported by Prospect at this time.
For users familiar with Prospect on either the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, you may notice some slight differences with these MR headsets, both in terms of colors and visual fidelity, as well as general performance and tracking. These differences are inherent to these new MR headsets and their technology.

1. Hover over an uploaded image's thumbnail.
2. View the 360 Preview. Click+Hold+and Drag to rotate and explore panorama, or use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
3. Clicking the icon in the bottom right corner of 360 Preview will open full screen mode, expanding the preview to the size of your monitor.
4. Any additional panoramas in your set can be accessed via the tray, hidden at the bottom of the screen, accessed by clicking the icon in the bottom center of the screen.

Sun PositionGeolocation, if available from the native file, is exported to Prospect for the Sun Settings tool. If none exists, the default is 0,0,0.
Origin PointPerformance in-VR works best when the model is located on or close to the origin point of (0,0,0) - utilizing a version of your model near this origin point is a best practice when exporting and processing the model to view in-VR.
Section BoxingWe currently support sectioning through the Box or Plane mode in Navisworks. This tool can be used to reduce the size of a model, which typically increases performance in-VR.
Materials and TexturesTextures are not supported. Instead, textured faces are assigned color values.
Objects with multiple materials from Revit will get split into unique building elements whenthey'reimported into Navisworks.This means in Prospect, both sides of the wall will be individually selectable and appear to be unique, independent objects.
Example: If a wall in Revit (single building element) has a different color on each side, it will get imported to Navisworks, and then Prospect, as two elements.
Layers & GeometryThe plugin will automatically use the top-level of the Selection Tree hierarchy under Item > Layer and map those to the Prospect concept of Layers. Layers in VR are based on the element's placement in the selection tree in Navisworks.
Geometry not marked as being on a layer will be put on the default layer.All file geometry is exported to Prospect, except hidden geometry, elements or layers from the selection tree that are specifically toggled off. Please note - phasing is not currently supported.
ViewpointsAny saved Viewpoints are imported as Prospect Viewpoints and arecamera positions only. Layer states, visibility settings, etc. are not yet supported.
BIM MetadataSelect elements to display any of their element-level BIM metadata in-VR, as shown below. This feature is available to files exported with Prospect v2.5 or newer.

With any VR headset, you'll need a powerful computer first. Check out our recommended specifications here.
You'll want to make sure you have adequate space for your VR experience, here are a few different ways we've set up our headsets.
Desktop users will want to make sure their VR headset and desktop monitor are both plugged directly into their dedicated GPU, not the motherboard.
For the Oculus Rift:
Refer to the official Oculus Rift installation guide.
After installing Oculus Home, go to Settings > General and enable Unknown Sources to run Prospect.

You'll also want to make sure that you're not enrolled in the Oculus Public Test Channel. This can be verified by going to Settings > Beta and ensuring that "Public Test Channel" is toggled off.
Please note that the Oculus Rift DK2 is no longer supported.
For the HTC Vive & Vive Pro:
Refer to the official HTC Vive installation guide.
We suggest wall-mounting your HTC Vive base stations for the best experience, although they can also be mounted on a tripod. Any standard tripod will suffice, though we've used this tripod with this tripod head (and optionally this pivot arm ) in the past.
HTC Vive Pro requires a top of the line PC, and would only be recommended for use with our or better.
Additionally, check to make sure that your computer has the necessary DisplayPort receptacle to connect to the Vive Pro. We have received feedback that the headset may not be detected when an adapter is used to connect the headset to your computer.
Make sure you are opted out of all beta programs in SteamVR, as these unofficial versions can potentially cause issues with Prospect. If you have noticed any issues with performance, such as buttons losing functionality:
Close SteamVR
Navigate to Steam library and right click SteamVR -> properties
Open the betas tab
Make sure you're not in beta
Ensure non-beta is downloaded
Launch SteamVR and verify the version
None- Opt outof all beta programs
SteamVR has a setting to automatically adjust resolutionbased on detected hardware, which can cause unfavorable results. To manually set this at 100%:
Navigate to Settings --> Video
Check Manual Override
Set resolution to 100%
Also verify the box labeled "Enable Motion Smoothing" is unchecked

AMD Graphics Card Users
Some HTC Vive users with AMD graphics cards have reported an issue where only one eye is displayed in the headset when using Prospect. Typically, this issue can be resolved by updating your AMD graphics card drivers. If this does not resolve the problem, you can also tryenabling "Direct Mode" which can be found in Settings -> Developer -> [Enable Direct Mode] in SteamVR.

1. Phone must have a gyroscope. Older and budget versions of certain smartphones do not have gyroscopes.
2. Phone must have an accelerometer (almost guaranteed for any phone)
3. Android phones need to beAndroid 4.4 (KitKat) or higher.
4. iPhones must be an iPhone 5S or newer, withiOS 8 or higher.
Using Scopealso requiresa mobile VR-compatible headset, which depends on your smartphone.
Tips and suggestions for selecting a headset and smartphone to use for mobile VR:
1. For the SamsungGearVR: If purchasing the phone and headset separately, confirm that the version of Samsung phone and GearVR match. There are multiple generations of GearVR headsets that only work with specific phones. More information on compatible devices is provided by Samsung here.
2. For use with the Google Cardboard: Select a phone that fits within the device. Phones with larger screens (ex: iPhone 6) provide a better experience than those with smaller ones(ex: iPhone 5S).
Oculus Go Support
Our Scope software does not currently offer support for the Oculus Go, as the companion iPhone or Android application is required to manage your Scope library.
Our Prospect immersive walkthrough software requires considerably more processing power than is available on the Go, so Prospect will continue to require a powerful PC and desktop VR headset.

A Rhino file can have a great amount of geometry and it's important to optimize your file for VR.
Clean up your Geometry
Hide: Use the Hide command to select and hide any objects/geometry that you don't need to see in VR.
Delete: Excess or extraneous geometry that has been copied and pasted accidentally through the file.
Trim: It's best practice to trim any surfaces under the mesh to avoid overlapping with other meshes.
GeolocationMake sure to input a sun location in Rhino, as Prospect uses the information from the Rhino file for the sun and shadows. Learn more about geolocation from McNeel'swebsite.
Materials & TexturesAssigning layers, materials or colors will improve the quality of the virtual reality experience.Avoid using white as that creates glare in VR; avoid using black as that reduces depth.
Prospect reads semi-transparent layers as if they areglass, so that you can teleport through a window or glass door quickly. Avoid making any surfaces semi-transparent that you do not want to teleport through.
Named ViewsYou can set cameras as scenes in Prospect using Named Views (NamedView in the command line)
LayersObjects/geometry in layers that are set to 'off' will still beexported, but will be hidden in VR. Layers can then be toggled on/off within Prospect. Below is an example of how to manipulate layers in Rhino for creating design options in VR.
First, in Rhino each layer is assigned a different color and seperate on it's own named layer (Option 1, Options 2, Option 3)
Then, when the file is brought into Prospect upon opening the layers menu icon you can turn layers on/off.

At IrisVR, we've designed a navigation system that accommodates any 3D file and gives the user the ability to almost instantly travel to any place they'd like.
The two leading VR headsets are HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Depending on which virtual reality headset you pair with Prospect youll have slightly different navigation controls. Prospect will default to the parabolic curve for teleportation. However, any users who would like to revert back to straight line teleportation instead of parabolic teleportation can do so under the Global Settings Menu.

Press up on the thumbpad of wand with grey laser. Aim and release the thumbpad to teleport to the location of your avatar. If an X appears, this means you cannot teleport onto a surface.

Moving through doors, windows or solid objects

Changing your teleportation mode and fly increments
You can switch between straight line and curved teleportation, as well as adjust the height increment for flying up and down in your Prospect Library settings by clicking the gear at the top right of your library. In VR Tutorial
Prospect features an in-VR tutorial to help you get acquainted with navigation and menu interaction in VR. The tutorial can be useful both as a first time user, or when showing VR to a client / colleague who is using VR for the first time. By default, the tutorial will launch each time you view a new file in VR, though you can disable this in your settings. You can also launch the tutorial manually in a file by clicking F1 at any time.

View ArticleNavisworks files can be deceptively large, even when file size doesn't indicate it. This is due toNavisworks implementing a number of tricks for compressing and storing geometry when saving a file, that cannot be applied when creating a 3D scene for virtual reality.
If your files are over 100 MB,we recommend hiding fragments, using the Selection Tree and Section box and Properties as shown below.
To start, hideany excessivegeometric fragments where possible
Do this by:
Go to Home > Selection Tree > Properties > Geometry > Fragments.
Under Fragments, search for geometry with a count of 1000 or greater, highlight them, then right-click to Hide.
Why this helps:Navisworks Fragments are pieces of appended 3D geometry which can be particularly strenuous on processing and rendering if highly fragmented, e.g., 2,000 versus 200.

Next, eliminate unnecessary geometry
Everything you have modeled within your file may not be needed in VR; decide what is important to see and hide the rest.
Do this by:
Going to the Selection Tree
Select and right-click to Hide, look for:
repeated elements such as rebars, nuts, bolts, etc
elements modeled in great detail, such as vendor-provided 3D assets
nice-to-have features, such as trees or furniture
Why this helps:Reducing extra geometry is the fastest and easiest way to improve the VR experience without compromising information shared.

Then, define the geometric bounds
By default the bounds of your model are it's full extends, you'll want to edit this to be just the area you are reviewing.
Do this by:
Go to Sectioning Tools, click Enable Sectioning
Push & pull bounding box to the desired area
Why this helps:The section box will increase in-VR performance and load your file from the Prospect library faster, but the conversion directly from Navis to Prospect will remain the same.

Andisolate specific areas only
After establishing your section box, take one step further to hide any unselected geometry.
Do this by:
Hold the space bar while click-hold-pulling across from left to right, this selects all the geometry that falls within the window (in blue)
Right-click and pick "Hide Unselected"
Why this helps:This will speed up the export process. Plus, you can bring in large areas without the full model which will improve performance and create focus areas during VR coordination meetings.

Save your Viewpoint
Do this by:
Click on Viewpoint > Save Viewpoint
Name your viewpoint, for example, "Prospect View 1"
Why this helps: This will save the changes you've made to your file as a state and save you from repeating these steps.

Last, leverage Prospect's settings
Navis files are rich with information, but they may not be relevant to you and Prospect has a feature to help you customize what is brought into VR.
Do this by:
Click "View in VR"
Allow the file to be processed by Prospect
For 100MB+ files this can take 10+ minutes to complete but is really beneficial to your framerate and general VR experience
Once the Properties tab is populated, browse anddeselect fields that are not necessary
Click start processing to bring into VR
Why this helps: Reducing the overall data being imported into Prospect willenable you to import and view only fields that are useful for your design review.

Still running into issues?
For Oculus Quest Users: Standalone headsets can not handle the same size file as a desktop PC can. Follow the optimization steps above, but during the section box and/or isolation step start with the smallest possible area. Do a test launch to confirm it opens in Prospect and then gradually increase size.
For everyone: Hiding, selecting and adjusting geometry is always the easiest way to work with existing files, but when creating new files review your geometry to identify if it could be modeled in a cleaner or simpler way.
Models operate best when located close to the origin of 0,0,0 - whenever possible, try to place your models on or around this origin point.

Export as an OBJ to a new folder on your computer
Change the "Path Mode" setting to "Strip Path"
Ensure that "Write Materials" is checked

Copy any .jpg or other files used as textures to the folder with the exported OBJ file, maintaining their original filenames
When modeling in Blender, be aware that using a light color/texture for your model may lead to poor visibility within Prospect, as the default room in which the model starts has a light background (see below).
View ArticleHow smoothly and successfully your model appears in virtual reality is affected by a series of items, including but not limited to hardware and model size, which in turn affect your frame rates.
Our goal is to provide the smoothest in VR experience and always have you viewing your model at 90 frames per second but if upon entering your model you notice that it is "blurry" or shuddery, here are some external factors to check for:
Hardware Logistics
Check and confirm that your computer has the necessary hardware to runvirtual reality software. Our recommended computer specs are posted here.
Check and confirm that all your virtual reality headset cables are plugged in. This can seem an obvious step, but with use, cables can become loose and not transfer data properly. If using an HTC Vive without the sync cable, consider adding the cable for stability.
If you're using a laptop, we strongly recommend keeping it plugged into the charger whenever possible. Powering a VR experience is very intensive, and relyingentirely on battery power is known to cause degraded performance.
All FilesReview the model you are using for possible optimization. Here are some options for optimizing your model:
Turning off pieces of the model that are "nice-to-haves". For example, trees, people, and cars can make a 3D file grow quite large and lower frame rates very quickly.
If you are using 3D components fromproduct manufacturers, check them for excess details. For instance, chairs, windows, kitchens that can be downloaded from the internet are often modeled in very high detail including components such as highly detailed tiny screws. These are useful for drawing sets, but not always necessary for seeing in virtual reality.
Consider bringing in a smaller version of the 3D model. For example, if you have a 10 story building or a 10-mile campus massing model, trimming down the area to 5 stories or a few blocks can quickly improve the quality in-VR.

View ArticleWhile we don't support pCon files natively, you are able to export your files from pCon for use with Prospect.
pCon supports both SKP (SketchUp) and OBJ exports. We recommend exporting as a SketchUp file, as the resulting files tend to be smaller and perform better, while still maintaining all geometry and textures. pCon Planner users have reported that exporting as an OBJ file often yields unnecessarily large files, which can fail to import in to Prospect if your machine runs out of memory during the import process.
When exporting to a SketchUp file, it's possible that some geometry may not export properly during the file type conversion. We recommend opening the file in SketchUp and making any adjustments necessary, and then importing into Prospect by dragging and dropping the file into your Prospect library.

View ArticleAlthough we don't yet have official support for Scope embeds, now that Scope provides the capability to generate unique share links for your panorama sets, you can embed those shared panorama set pages on your website or blog using iframes.
If you're not familiar with HTML/CSS, your web administrator or developer may be able to assist with this process.
To start, check out our guide on creating share codes / links in your Scope library. Once you've generated a share code or link, simply use that link as the source for your iframe:

Click on one of the panoramas in the set will cause it to open full-frame in your iframe window, allowing for viewing of your panoramas without ever leaving your webpage. We also recommend adding a notice on your page, instructing users that viewing these panoramas using a mobile VR headset such as a Samsung Gear VR or Google Cardboard will provide a more immersive experience.
If you'd like to prevent scrolling on our page within your embed (like above), you can add 'scrolling="no"' to your iframe properties:

View ArticleWith the Reports feature, youll be able to log and annotate flagged elements and screenshots for easy review once your VR Meeting or session has concluded. The Report will export in a PDF format which allows for quick distribution and record keeping.

Screenshots and Flagged Elementswill automaticallybe included in your report, along with any markups or callouts visible at the time they were created.
Text notescan be added to your report either in real time from the PC or after you conclude your session. More on this later..
Basic BIM datawill be included for any flagged elements if you're viewing a Revit file.
To create a Report
Open a 3D file in Prospect and select the Inspect Element tool on your left-hand menu.
Once this tool has been opened, you will be able to "flag" an element by selecting it and clicking "Flag & Add to Report" on the menu.
After flagging, you will see a notification that the element has been added to your report - it's as easy as that!
As for, they will be added to your Report automatically, as long as "Include in Report" has been checked in the Screenshots menu.

Adding Notes to a Report
As mentioned above, you can add notes to your Report in two ways - during the session or afterwards.
For adding notes after the session, simply go to the Reports tab in your Prospect Library and all of your screenshots and flagged element images will be present. There will be a text box associated with each image allowing you to add notes or directions.
Scroll through your Report items and add notes in the correlating text box
For adding notes during the session, simply have a colleague follow along on the PC. They will be able to add notes in real time since flagged elements and screenshots will display in the Reports tab as soon as they are captured in VR. The note taker can also visually follow along by adjusting the windows so that both the Prospect Desktop Library and the VR session are in view.

Exporting a Report
Click the PDF icon in the top right corner of the Report tab in your Library
Name the Report and click save
The Report will then open in your default PDF viewer, ready to be emailed printed or shared with colleagues!
Notes
In the multi-user Meetings feature, only screenshots and flagged elements from the host will appear in the Report.
If you plan to add annotations to a flagged element, make sure to do so before flagging so that your markups are shown in the correlating image that's saved in the Report.

How it works
Whenever you launch Prospect it will check your computer for a headset, if no headset is connected when you launch a file it will open on full-screen directly on your monitor.

View ArticleThe measuring tool allows you to easily measure distances in VR to confirm scale and identify errors or code issues.
The measuring tool will appear as an icon in your menu, and within the toolitselfyou can toggleperpendicular modeon and off. With perpendicular mode on, the measuring tool will automatically measure a perpendicular line from the surface you point the tool at to the surface opposite it. With this functionality off, you can measure a direct line by pointing at a starting point, selecting that point, and then selecting an end point.
Once you've selected an end point, your measurement will appear above your controller.

You can toggle between metric and imperial mode per your preference both while in VR, and prior to launching your file by selecting your preferred option in the right panel of the desktop library.

When paired with Prospect, the Oculus Quest is a great way to jump from smaller SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, Navisworks, and FBX/OBJ files into VR. Any large or complex file will need to be optimized to a smaller size for the sake of performance.
Important:
If you haven't yet requested access to Prospect on Quest, it is essential for you to review these steps first. Quest is compatible with Pro and Pro Plus subscriptions.
How to get your Prospect Files into Quest
Open the Prospect app on your desktop computer. Next create a new Project then add a few files to it as shown:

3. Sync the project by clicking the "Sync Project"button.

5. After the installation completes, log into Prospect using the same username and password as your IrisVR account.The log in button is on the right-hand panel in-VR on your Quest.
6. Your synced files will appear shortly after logging in. Hover over a file, then click to sync the file into the device. Once it's complete you can launch the file into VR.
Prospect Collaboration on Quest
The latest version of Prospect lets you collaborate on files using your Quest headset, there are two ways to do this:
Viewing your own shared files Files on which you've invited others to collaborate will appear within the project you've placed them. They will be noted with a multiple person icon next to the file name.
Viewing files that have been shared with you Files that others have shared with you will appear in a "Shared with Me" section just below your project list.
Inviting a Guest A guest is someone who does not have a Prospect license. From the logged out view within the Quest, a guest can click the "Enter Join Code" button in the right-hand panel, enter the code received from the host, and join.

Best Practices
PerformanceOculus Quest is a standalone device and does not leverage the power of a PC, meaning it has a limited processing power. We can't provide an exact maximum size as this is dependent on the type/complexity of the geometry.
Improve performance by always starting as small as possible anduse tools within the native 3D program to reduce the size of the model, such as hiding geometry, using a section box or exporting smaller sections.
If your file is consistently failing while loading or mid-experience, un-sync this file, reduce the complexity of the model by removing high poly items (detailed foliage and entourage elements), or reduce the size of your model using a section box. Then, re-process and sync the simplified version of the file for a fresh launch.
SketchUp users may benefit from replacing high-poly models with some low-poly options from
Free Up SpaceWe know Quest storage is limited, so we made it easy to free up space on your Quest. Hover over the check mark on any synced file on the quest and click Remove to remove it from the device. You can always sync it again later.
Ending a SessionFirst Exit Viewer - When concluding a VR session on the Quest, make sure you press EXIT while in VR. This will officially end your VR session and allow any updates to sync back.
Syncing files - Make sure your headset remains on/active while files are syncing - this ensures the headset will not time out or pause during syncing.Any screenshots, viewpoints, or other actions saved while in a file on your Oculus Quest will sync back with any other device where you log in. This way, you can use your desktop to download these images.
SecurityIrisVR trusts and uses Google Cloud Platform as a cloud provider. All data transfer is encrypted between the PC client and the cloud, and files in the cloud are stored on secure servers, only readable with IrisVR client software.

View ArticleFor various reasons, graphics card (aka GPU) drivers can fall out of date. We have found outdated drivers to be the root cause of many performance issues in-VR, as VR experiences (including Prospect) are heavily reliant on the GPU.
Such issues include but are not limited to:
Black screen upon launch
Headsets not recognizing
Degraded performance
Luckily, NVIDIA's "GeForce Experience" software provides a utility that can quickly and easily help update and maintain these drivers for your GPU, helping ensure peak performance.
1. Download the GeForce Experience here. 2. Follow the prompts and install the software3. Youll either need to create an NVIDIA account or log in via a supported 3rd party account. 4. Once youre logged in, navigate to the Drivers tab near the top of the window, and click "Check For Updates" on the top right corner.
If any updates are available for your graphics card, you'll be prompted to install them. If not, you'll receive a notice that your drivers are up to date.
Optimus Technology
Other potential graphics card issues
Laptops with have been known to cause largely insurmountable issues, particularly when used with the HTC Vive headset, and therefore we cannot recommend their use.
Often your computer may have both an integrated graphics card (with less processing power) and a dedicated GPU, with separate HDMI ports that correspond to each graphics card. If your graphics card drivers are up to date but you're still having issues- make sure that your VR headset is connected to the dedicated GPU on your computer.
Sometimes, gaming laptops provide functionality that allows the user to manually switch between the integrated and dedicated graphics cards (for either power saving applications or high performance). This functionality may be available through software on your computer, or via a physical switch or button on the device (example below).
If you're using a laptop, make sure it is plugged into a wall outlet whenever possible. VR experiences require a lot of power, and relying on battery alone can often cause poor performance.
If you're running Prospect on a gaming laptop, ensure that you have the dedicated graphics card enabled.

If you're seeing a "connect ETIMEDOUT" or "connect ECONNREFUSED" message upon trying to log into Prospect on your computer, it's likely that Prospect's connection to our login server is being blocked by a personal or corporate firewall. In order to resolve this issue, you'll need to connect with your IT department to whitelist the following URLs on your network's firewall:
https://api.irisvr.com/
https://api.irisvr-dc02.com/
https://irisvr.com/
If your IT department requires an IP address and port to whitelist, please use 35.241.21.80on port 443. If you're able to whitelist our domains instead, we recommend doing so as the associated static IP may change in the future.
Connection issues with Prospect Multiuser Meetings
If you are unable to create or join a Meeting, please ensure that connections to https://mms.irisvr.com/have been whitelisted on your firewall or proxy.
If the "Connecting to Multiuser" message that appears in your VR headset when connecting to a session does not disappear shortly after you launch the experience, it's likely that a firewall is blocking the connection to our multiuser server.To resolve this issue, you'll need to ensure that outgoing traffic on UDP ports 3200-3201 to IP 35.196.177.164 is allowed by your firewall.
Setting up Prospect to use your Proxy
If you'd like Prospect to route connections through your personal or corporate proxy, you can enter your proxy information when logging into Prospect. This setting is optional, and should only be used per instructions from your network's administrator.
SSL Certificate Issues
If your firewall or network is set up to do SSL decryption, please not that you may encounter SSL certificate errors when attempting to use Prospect.
Persistent connection issues
If a connection issue persists after your IT department has confirmed that the necessary ports have been unblocked, please contact us and loop in your IT team so that we can resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

The Prospect Viewer is a free tool available to download from our website here and does not require an account to utilize.
It provides a hassle-free way for clients and guests to process and view .IVZ and .IVM files shared with them. Users simply drag and drop the file they've been provided into the Prospect Viewer window to extract for viewing or meeting in VR.
For a single user VR experience you'll need an .IVZ file, which contains a solo,fully navigable experiences. Follow these steps:

For viewing a file that has been shared with you OR joining a meetingyou'll have a public share code. This share code will allow you to access the file that has been shared with you. Follow these steps:
1. Open Viewer and log in as aGuest
2. SelectJoin Code
3. Paste the alphanumeric code that was shared with you

Our collaboration toolsmake it easier to join VR meetings across more devices and keep everyone in the loop, regardless of their location.
You'll want to use the collaboration features if:
You want to share a VR experience with another person for their viewing
You want to have a meeting with multiple individuals at the same time
Enable Collaboration
In the Prospect desktop library, you can manage collaborators in theright-hand panel, and then select a method for inviting them.
Method 1: Invite via Email
Open the right-hand panel, click on the people icon to open the Collaborators tab.
Use the Add a new collaborator line to type in an email. Individuals who are in your company's team will appear as a suggested collaborator here.
Individuals added will receive an email inviting them to the project and explaining that they will have the collaborative project appear in their "Shared with Me" tab upon their next launch of Prospect.
That's it! Click launch on any file in the shared project to collaborate.
This method is best forinviting someone who is already in your company's team, is using a Workstation, or has their own Prospect subscription.

Method 2: Provide a Share Code
Public share codes provide a flexible way to invite collaborators, especially if you are inviting a guest who may not have a Prospect license.
Open the right-hand panel, click on people icon to open Collaborators
Toggle ON public sharing to get a 6 digit alphanumeric join code.
Click to copy and share this code via email, text message, etc
When the user who invited, open Prospect they can add the code to load the file
That's it! Click launch on any file in the shared project to collaborate.
This method is best forsomeone who doesn't have their own Prospect license, or isn't on your company's team.

Best Practices for Successful Meetings
Hardware Logistics
Connect to astable internetsource. Wifi hot spots can work, but are not as reliable. If your company has a firewall, please review our notes here.
Check your audio, different headsets have different audio setups.
If using an Oculus Rift, test that your volume is turned up and that you can hear through the headphones, not the computer speakers.
If using an HTC Vive,make sure you have headphones plugged in so youll be able to hear the other participants. If using the Vive Pro, you'll be able to use the built in headphones.
We don't recommend hosting a meeting without a headset because you'll lose out on the immersive qualities of VR. If you must join without a headset, review this article for specifics.
Managing the Meeting
It's a Shared Environment: Allparticipants will be able to see all the changes and markups made by other collaborators, including Sun Settings, Display Settings, Layers, Flagged Elements, etc.The only tool not visible to all participants are any measurements you take with the Measuring Tape.
Listen, Speak and Collaborate:Let participants know they can communicate with each other through their headsets.As the Host, you also havethe ability to mute any attendeewithin the session and they will receive a notification.
Curate the Meeting:Determine how you will explore the model by using pre-established Viewpoints. Open the Viewpoints icon on the menu, then select "Bring Others with Me" followed by the desired location. Other attendees will be notified that they are being relocated to a different spot with the model, this is only available to hosts.
Never Lose Focus:At any moment during the a meeting, you can open the Participants tab on your menu and use either function below.
As the host "Gather" all participants to your location
As a participant "Go To" will you to the location of that user

As a Host, anytime that you flag an element while in VR youll have the option to add it to an ongoing report that is saved within the Prospect Desktop Library. Then at the end of the Meeting youll be able to distribute this with other attendees by exporting the PDF,
RemovingCollaborators
If you decide to remove collaborators from your project, you'll need to take different steps depending on how you invited them.
To revoke email invites hover over the users email and click remove.
To revoke share code invites toggle OFF public sharing, this will invalidate the code and prevent anyone from joining in the future.

Adding a file into your Prospect Library, or by selecting an existing project.*
With your Project selected, youll then press the Sync button.
Once the sync is complete via email invite or share code.
*If youre using Revit, Rhino, or Navisworks, you will use our plugins to first import your files. Other supported file formatscan use the drag and drop method.
Sharing IVZ Files
Users also have the ability to export static IVZ files, these are our proprietaryVR-ready file format specifically designed for Prospect.
Best for sending an experience to a user for viewing on a guest Prospect Viewer account or if you would prefer not to sync your file. In all other instances we suggest using the collaboration feature.
Export a .IVZ File
Select Options and then "Export IVZ"
Choose folder, name the file, and hit Save

Export ready! You can now click "Open File Location" to view the file in its containing folder and share it with others.
With files above a certain size you may experience an error when exporting.In order to proceed further, you will need to reduce the size of your model.
Importing .IVZ Files
Select an .IVZ file that was shared with you and either drag & drop it into Prospect, or double click on it, or use the file selection method.

Doors
Automatic Fade: Doors will automatically fade within Prospect as you teleport through them. The geometry must be on a layer named Door,"doors", "A-Door", etc to work.
Additionally, the following objects/elements will fade when teleported through:
BIM-identified elements that are Door objects.
Element(s) or groups of elements that include door in the name.
Ghost Mode:Oculus Rift users also have the option to use Ghost Mode, which will allow you to move through all solid geometry. You can tell when ghost mode is enabled when there is a slight vignette around the periphery of your view. Once activated, you'll be able to navigate through closed doors, walls, and even floors. There are different options depending on which controller you have paired with the Rift, .
Inspect Element & Layers: At any moment you can move through a solid surface by selecting it with the Inspect Element tool and hiding it, or turning off the layer.
Please Note:Additional languages are not currently supported- and fading of doors currently pertains only to those labeled in English.
Windows &Glass
Prospect reads any surface with transparency as being one you can move through.
Additionally, Prospect automatically detects glass and styles it to appear more realistic, this can be disabled at anytime via the in-VR menu, Desktop Menu or Library settings shown above under Enhanced Glass.

If you have been invited to collaborate or join a meeting, here is a quick guide on getting started.
Viewing Shared Files in Prospect Library
To view a shared file or join a collaborative meeting take the steps that match how you were invited. Oculus Quest users must first contact us for access to Prospect on that device if you haven't already done so.
Invited via Email:
Anyone who has been sent a shared file will receive an email notification.
Users with an existing active trial or subscription can proceed to their Prospect library, see step 2.
Individuals who do not have accounts, will need to follow the link to create an account, start a trial and install Prospect.
Proceed to open Prospect on your desktop, and navigate to "Shared with Me", which will begin a sync of the project.
Once the download is complete, a notification will appear on the "Shared with Me" tab
Now you are ready to put on your headset and launch the file.

Invited through Share Code:
Setup your account or proceed to the Prospect library.
Users with an existing active trial or subscription can go to directly to their library, see step 2.
Individuals who do not have an account will need to create an account, start a trial and install Prospect or use the Prospect Viewer.
Once in Prospect, navigate to the "Shared with Me" tab and click on the blue plus sign button and input the 6 digit code.
This will trigger a download and sync of the collaborative file, which will be available to launch once the sync completes.

Mute Audio:The meeting host will have the capability to mute all the participants at any time during the meeting. If you are muted by the host, your screen will show a notification. You will also have the ability to mute yourself during a session.
Never Get Lost:At any moment during the collaborative meeting, the host will be able to gather all the participants around a specific point.
First-time Users
For first time users, Prospect has a tutorial to help familiarize yourself with the controllers and navigation.This tutorial can be triggered any time you launch a file or by pressing F1 on your keyboard.

View ArticleWhen you first enter Prospect you will be placed in Scale Model Mode (SMM) which displays all of your model geometry in front of you. This will always be the starting point for your immersive experiences and is where you will meet with other participants while collaborating.
Navigation
TutorialIf its your first time launching into that file you will be presented with a quick Tutorial on how to navigate. You have the option to do the tutorial, skip it at any time, or press F1 to relaunch it. If youd like to disable the tutorial for all your experiences you can do so by going to the gear icon on the top of your Prospect Library or Launcher.
Model InteractionThere are several actions you can perform while in SMM:
Scaling:Within SMM you can scale the model up or down by moving your controllers apart and together again.
How to scale depending on headset:
HTC Vive: Press down on both of the controller's side bumpers
Oculus: Press down on both of the Touchs inside buttons with your middle fingers
Scaling is not restricted by the walls of the SMM environment, some general notes:
Models in which the longest dimension is <1m will be able to be scaled to 10:1
Models in which the longest dimension is between 1m and 15m can be scaled to 1:10
Models in which the longest dimension is >100m can be scaled to 1:25
Rotating: Similar to scaling, rotate the model by moving your controllers while squeezing the buttons.Depending on your headset youll press different buttons:
HTC Vive: Press down on both of the controller's side bumpers
Oculus: Press down on both of the Touchs inside buttons with your middle fingers
Sectioning: Select the Model Interaction icon from the menu and cut a section of your model - adjust the section plane axis by rotating your wrist and your controller. Sections will automatically be capped for better visual clarity.
Moving: To lift or lower the model, point at it with your right controller then press the side bumper for HTC Vive or right trigger for Oculus. Then move your controller hand, as shown below.
In addition to these model transformations, you can also adjust Sun Settings, Display Settings, Layers and much more by going to your toolbar and pointing and clicking to select, as shown below.
Point and click to expand feature options in VR
Entering the ModelNext, you can point at the model with your controller and select a location to begin your walkthrough. Teleportation will vary based on which controllers you have. For Oculus, press and release the right joystick. For HTC Vive, press the thumb pad on the right controller. As you point at the model you'll see a blue avatar which represents where you will be teleported to. Refer to overview for more details.
You can return to Scale Model Mode any time by opening the Menu and selecting the Scale Model icon on the far bottom right of the toolbar.
