George Crawford — Senior Government Relations Advisor at King & Spalding

Mr. George Crawford joined King & Spalding's Washington office as Senior Government Relations Advisor on July 1, 2005. Mr. Crawford was a chief of staff for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Known as one of the most experienced staffers in House Democratic circles, he began his career on Capitol Hill in 1981, serving successively for Senator Howell Heflin (D-Ala.), Congressman Claude Pepper (D-Fla.) and Congressman Joe Moakely (D-Mass.). He oversaw Ms. Pelosi's race to succeed Congressman Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) as House Democratic Leader and served as her chief of staff when she assumed that office in January 2003. In his role as chief of staff to the House Democratic Leader, Crawford served as principal advisor on policy, political and procedural matters and was responsible for the operations of communications, policy, member support and services, the floor, online communications, outreach and administration. He also worked with the members of the Democratic Caucus, the Senate, the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, state and locally elected officials and the business community.
