Overall, if you do your job and mind your own business, things will go smooth but when it comes to engaging with upper management, it feels too political. Try and listen to your employees concern even if they are wrong. Work life balance needs to be met.

Sincerely show your employees you want to help them grow. At least in the department I was in, it felt too political in a way that shows certain people in upper management wanting to look good on the outside. Work life needs more balance. Engagement is lacked.
