  • Exceptional.

  • Great company culture for those who work in the HQ office in Buffalo. There's not much of a company culture established by leadership for the sales organization, though, but there's pros and cons to this. The pros are that the sales folks all feel that the technology is the best thing since sliced bread and there's a lot of passion there. It's also a Pro because there's no gimmicky contests that sales reps feel obligated to participate in and attend awards ceremonies. You own your own business. The cons are that you're on an island and it's difficult to feed off of other's passion and enthusiasm. It's also a con because you don't have something like a President's Club to attend when you have a big year. Lastly, the compensation structure is awful and can damper one's desire to go above and beyond.

  • Ranges from very difficult to very easy depending if the territory has brokerage firms with a historical track record of production. If not, getting the first deal is a marathon.

  • Hard to sell because it's through a distribution channel and there's lots of variables that can prevent a win. The sales cycles range from a few months to a few years depending on the size of the group.

  • Sales goals were based on the predictions made by major consulting firms that estimated roughly 40 million members enrolling in Private Exchanges by 2018. The actual market has fallen well short of what was predicted which made sales goals very unrealistic depending on the territory. Number of reps hitting their goals are well below 50% but the company can easily restructure their strategy to solve for those with territories that have additional sales barriers like regulatory laws specific to a certain state and a lack of brokerage firms with a large book of business. Basically, there's a greater than 50% chance that you're set up for failure if quotas remain uniform across the country for all Account Executives.

  • They are odd considering that each territory is very different but goals are the same for each person. This results in some having unobtainable goals and others with an arms length reach to meeting their goals. In addition, each distribution channel has various incentives to include Liazon reps in the sales process so there's often reps who have an uphill battle to just get in front of opportunities.

  • Depends on your territory but overall it's not the best. Requires quite a bit of time and effort to maintain a complex sales process that can ultimately be hijacked by the broker distribution channel and/or third party strategic partners that won't play ball or be flexible to a clients specific needs.
