A Liquigás, fundada em 1953, foi adquirida pela Petrobras Distribuidora S.A. (BR) em agosto de 2004. Desde a integração ao Sistema Petrobras, a Liquigás consolidou sua liderança no mercado de botijões de 13 kg - os mais usados em residências para o cozimento de alimentos - e sua posição como uma das maiores distribuidoras de GLP no país. Conta atualmente com 3250 funcionários. A Liquigás conta com 23 Centros Operativos, 18 Depósitos, 1 Base de Armazenagem e Carregamento rodo-ferroviário, 4 unidades de envasamento em terceiros e uma rede com aproximadamente 4.000 revendedores autorizados, além de sua Sede, na cidade de São Paulo (SP). Desde julho de 2009, opera sob a bandeira única “Liquigás". As marcas Tropigás e Novogás, anteriormente usadas nas regiões Norte e Nordeste, foram substituídas. A unificação das marcas teve como objetivo tornar a imagem da Companhia ainda mais conhecida e confiável do público, ao reforçar os conceitos de modernidade e compromisso com a qualidade e segurança conferidos pelo endosso Petrobras à marca da Liquigás.
