Everything from properly scoping tasks to recognizing employee ability and assigning resources effectively. The whole middle management layer is filled with poor managers.
Reward competence not your buddies and cronies!

The leadership team is too full of themselves. They think they have the solution to all the problems and hence micromanage. Learn to trust your managers - they are a good team. Do your job and set strategy and let your team deliver - else replace them.

Need to walk the talk on work life balance. Your culture is toxic and no one has the courage to tell the emperor he has no clothes for fear of getting fired. Empowerment is only talk. Stop micromanaging and trust your highly paid people.

The pay is barely scraping average, you could get what I'm paid anywhere in Ottawa with ease. If the work environment wasn't so hostile the pay would be tolerable, but this job is clearly not worth what is being provided. Insurance is also mediocre and other benefits useless or obtuse to opt into.
My immediate team is fine, but people not on my immediate team are often detached and have unrealistic goals and expectations. I don't really know how to improve any of this aside from simply having better management.
Remove the whole middle management layer and replace them. Scope tasks properly. Set realistic goals. Every project I've worked on has been a disaster scene that I get sent into to clean up and many of them are impossible situations that feel like I'm being scapegoated.
Always looking for someone to blame. The nepotism is suffocating.

CEO needs a serious mental adjustment - there are smart people in the company. Let them do their jobs, you are not good at everything.

Make it clear who is the actual manager and who isn't. I thought, when I accepted my offer, that I would be working under one person who interviewed me. It turned out I was working under someone totally different.
Pay more. Manage better. Provide interesting work. At least do one of these so it's not torturous to get out of bed each day.
Toxic work culture and fear of constant layoffs. Better play it safe.
