Mr. Edward C. Coppola, also known as Ed, Co-founded The Macerich Company and has been its President since September 2008 and Director since 1994. Mr. Coppola has also served as the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Executive Vice President at Macerich Co., from August 2004 to September 2008. He was actively involved in Macerich Co.'s capital market activities and in developing and maintaining relationships with joint venture partners. As President, he continues to guide the company's financial resources and key lender and investor relationships and collaborates with the critical spheres of legal, leasing and overall management of Macerich. As well, he continues to oversee acquisitions and dispositions, department store relations and the company's important development/redevelopment strategy across the country. He over three decades helped grow the company's portfolio, establish it as a public company and create its national footprint. He is an Attorney and has 30 years of shopping center experience with The Macerich Group. He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Dallas, Texas. He has been a Director at The Macerich Company since 1994. He served as a Director of Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc., from March 15, 2006 to February 2009. He is a member of The International Council of Shopping Centers, PREA, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and The Real Estate Roundtable in Washington, D.C. He served as a Member of The Urban Land Institute. He is a frequent Speaker and Panelist at industry functions. He holds a J.D. from Drake University and Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.
