David F. Snively — Executive VP, Secretary & General Counsel at Monsanto Company

Mr. David F. Snively, also known as Dave, has been an Executive Vice President of Monsanto Company since September 1, 2010 and has been its Secretary & General Counsel since September 1, 2006. Mr. Snively leads Monsanto's legal and environmental, safety and health organizations. He has extensive experience in coordinating its global law organization, strategic legal planning and supervision of the litigation, environmental, antitrust, regulatory and intellectual property functions. He served as a Senior Vice President of Monsanto Company since September 1, 2006. He joined Monsanto Company in 1983 and directed many nationally recognized trials, including a series of novel patent trials which established its position as the recognized technology leader in the field of agricultural biotechnology. He serves as Chairman of Life Teen International, Inc. He served for many years as Executive Director for Lawyers for Civil Justice, based in Washington, D.C. He served as Deputy General Counsel of Monsanto and was responsible for its litigation, environmental, antitrust, regulatory and intellectual property issues. He directed novel patent and antitrust litigation involving intellectual property in the field of genetic biotechnology. He participated in a number of important cases for Monsanto, including the longest civil jury trial in U.S. history. He served Array of positions in Monsanto's Law Department, including litigation, environmental and intellectual property. He is an active Leader in the American Bar Association (ABA) Litigation Section and serves as Vice Chair of the Committee on Corporate Counsel. He is Director of Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri. He is Legatus. He was also a trial lawyer and Attorney at Barnes & Thornburg in the early 1980s. Mr. Snively holds B.S. Degree from Ball State University and J.D. from Indiana University School of Law.
