Mr. Grant R. Bates has been the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence at MRC Global Inc. since March 2016. Mr. Bates is responsible for MRC global quality, safety, health and environment (QHSE) and transportation, warehouse operations, business processes and customer implementation teams and information systems. Mr. Bates has been with MRC Global since 2000. Mr. Bates served as Senior Vice President of Canada Operations, Global QHS&E and North American Operational Excellence at MRC Global Inc. from October 01, 2015 to March 2016. Mr. Bates served as Vice President of Canada Operations at MRC Global Inc. from April 2014 to October 01, 2015. Mr. Bates served as Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific & Middle East at MRC Global Inc. Mr. Bates served as Regional Vice President of Australasia at MRC Global Inc. since November 2012. Mr. Bates previously led MRC Global Canada region. Mr. Bates joined MRC in March 2012 through the acquisition of OneSteel Piping Systems (now known as MRC Piping Systems Australia). Prior to the acquisition, he served as the National Manager of OneSteel Piping Systems. He has more than a decade of experience in manufacturing and distribution in a variety of management roles, including several years as a business analyst and consulting engineer. Mr. Bates holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, a Graduate Diploma in Management from Deakin and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University.
