Douglas McClaine — Senior VP, Secretary & Chief Legal Officer at MSA - The Safety Company

Mr. Douglas K. McClaine serves as the Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President and Secretary at MSA Nederland B.V. Mr. McClaine has been the Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President of MSA Safety Incorporated (formerly, Mine Safety Appliances Co). since April 5, 2016 and March 2, 2016 respectively and its Secretary since July 1, 2002. He served as Vice President of MSA Safety Incorporated since May 24, 2005 and also served as its General Counsel from July 1, 2002 to April 5, 2016. He served in MSA's Law Department for 21 years. Possessing a broad knowledge of the law and strong leadership skills, he established himself as an important contributor to MSA's management team. He played an integral role in managing the legal issues associated with MSA's transition from the American Stock Exchange to the New York Stock Exchange. He began his career with MSA in 1984 and served as its Patent Attorney and as Senior Counsel. He served as an Associate General Counsel and Corporate Ethics Officer of Mine Safety Appliances since 1990, where he created and implemented its corporate compliance program. Active in many community programs and Bar associations, he co-founded the Allegheny County Mock Trial Program for area high school students. He also serves as a Member of Board of Trustees of Butler Health System, Inc. and served as a Director of Butler Health System Foundation. He is a Member of several bar associations and professional organizations. He was a Youth Counselor for the Butler Rotary Wheels Juvenile Delinquent Program. He served as Director and Treasurer of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association. He has also been a Guest Speaker and Panelist at various seminars on the topics of ethics, litigation, corporate compliance, governance and sexual harassment. Mr. McClaine received Bachelors' degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Administration and Management Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He earned a Juries Doctor from Penn State University-The Dickinson School of Law in 1984. He is licensed to practice within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
