Remy Briand — Head of Environmental, Social & Governance at MSCI

Mr. Remy Briand is the Head of Environmental, Social and Governance at MSCI Inc. He is responsible for environmental, social and governance ratings products at the firm since its creation in 2010. Earlier, Mr. Briand catered to the real estate product since June 2016. In the past, he also served as the Global Head of Research until February 2017 where he led a team of 150 researchers designing indexes, analytics and risk models for institutional investors. Prior to that, Mr. Briand served as the Global Head of Index Research for ten years, managing the expansion of the firm's global indexes to cover 80 developed, emerging and frontier markets. He also initiated and led the development of firm's factor indexes. Mr. Briand joined the firm in 2001. Before this, he served as an Equity Portfolio Manager and Head of Research at Credit Lyonnais Asset Management. He began his career as a Private Equity Analyst at the firm. Over his 27-year career as an investor, researcher and business leader, Mr. Briand has gained insights on topics such as global investing, emerging markets, sustainable investment and financial innovation. He regularly shares his views at industry conferences and with financial news media. Mr. Briand holds an MSc in Computer Sciences from INSA (Lyon) and an MBA from HEC Paris.
