Mr. Timothy J. Hynes, IV, also known as Tim, has been Executive Vice President of Consumer Lending at Navient Corporation since June 2017. Mr. Hynes served as the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer of Navient Corporation from April 2014 to June 2017 and also served as its Executive Vice President. Mr. Hynes oversees credit risk, compliance and information security. He is responsible for maintaining and fostering a culture of compliance and accountability in Navient's operations, ensuring that it maintains sound credit, market, compliance and operational performance. Previously, Mr. Hynes served as Senior Vice President for Navient Corporation. In this capacity, he led federal and private student loan default prevention programs and asset recovery services on behalf of institutional and government clients. He also played a leadership role in creating a private education loan program that helps students minimize borrowing costs and graduate with less debt. He joined Sallie Mae in 2008 and served as the Senior Vice President, Credit and later, Collections, for that company. He served as Director of New Account and Existing Account Marketing of Bank of America Card Services from February 2007 to May 2008. He served in a variety of consumer finance lending and credit management roles for MBNA America and Bank of America, both in the United States and abroad. At Bank of America, he led new account acquisition and current account marketing. In all, he spent 15 years at MBNA/Bank of America. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of Richmond.
