Mr. James J. Carpenter has been Chief Lending Officer at New York Community Bancorp Inc., and its subsidiary New York Community Bank since January 1, 2006. Mr. Carpenter has been Senior Executive Vice President of New York Community Bancorp Inc. and its subsidiary New York Community Bank since January 1, 2006. He has been Senior Executive Vice President of the New York Commercial Bank since December 30, 2005. Mr. Carpenter served as an Executive Vice President of New York Community Bank and of New York Community BanCorp. Inc., since January 1, 2003 until February 1, 2005. Mr. Carpenter served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer of the Community Bank from February 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005. Mr. Carpenter served as the Head of Asset Management Department of Haven Bancorp, Inc. since December 1991. previously, Mr. Carpenter held the following positions with New York Community Bank or its predecessor, as applicable: Executive Vice President and Assistant Chief Lending Officer from January 1, 2003 to February 1, 2005; Mr. Carpenter joined New York Community Bank on November 30, 2000 in connection with New York Community BanCorp. Inc.'s acquisition of Haven Bancorp, Inc., the parent company of CFS Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President in the Lending Division since November 1994. He joined CFS Bank in 1991. Senior Vice President, Mortgage Lending Officer from November 30,2000 to January 1, 2003; Senior Vice President of CFS Bank responsible for Multi-Family and Commercial Real Estate Lending from November 30, 2000 to January 1, 2003. Prior to joining CFS Bank, Mr. Carpenter served as Assistant Vice President in the Commercial Loan Workout Department and as midtown Manhattan Branch Manager for American Savings Bank. He began his career in group credit and mortgage life insurance sales with the Beneficial Insurance Group and Minnesota Mutual Life. Mr. Carpenter serves on the Boards of Directors of the Real Estate Institute at Long Island University and the Long Island Housing Partnership. In addition, he is a past president of the Metropolitan Mortgage Officers Society and a member and past president of the Three Villages Kiwanis Club. An honors graduate of the National School of Banking in Fairfield, Connecticut, Mr. Carpenter holds an MBA in accounting from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration/finance from the University of Richmond.
