Michael Adam Schwartz — Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer & Secretary at Newtek Business Services

Mr. Michael Adam Schwartz has been Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of Newtek Business Services Corp. since January 1, 2015 and has been its Chief Compliance Officer since October 1, 2015. Prior to that, Mr. Schwartz was Senior Counsel to the Company, representing the Company and its subsidiaries, with a focus on the origination, closing, sale, servicing and securitization of SBA loans to qualifying small businesses. Mr. Schwartz has been a Partner at Wolf Popper LLP., since 2003 and joined it in 1998. He began his law career at Pomerantz Haudek Block & Grossman as an Associate specializing in securities and antitrust class action litigation and shareholder derivative litigation. In 1993, he was admitted to the Bars of the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and in 1999, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mr. Schwartz served as an Independent Director of Newtek Business Services Inc. (known as Newtek Capital, Inc.) from August 18, 2005 to August 26, 2009. Mr. Schwartz spent 22 years in private practice specializing in complex litigation in the fields of securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial law, unfair employment practices, consumer protection and antitrust. He earned a Dean's Merit Scholarship from Brooklyn Law School in 1992, he has specialized in securities and antitrust class action litigation and shareholder derivative/corporate governance litigation. Mr. Schwartz graduated of Brooklyn College (City University of New York) where he received a B.S. cum laude in Business Management and Finance in 1988.
