  • Numecent builds products that customers can trust in critical production operations, and as such, we recognize that our products must meet the highest standards for security. This article documents our process for evaluating and resolving possible vulnerabilities in our products and services so that our customers can have the assurance that corrected action will be taken in a timely fashion. Patch Management New releases are major versions containing features, change requests, and product bug fixes. Features are prioritized by Numecent's roadmap and customers can contribute to requests by visiting our forums at https://support.numecent.com/a/forums/. Patch updates are versions containing only bug fixes to address critical product defects, such as critical vulnerabilities. Customers and partners will be notified by email when a new release or patch update is available for download. Release notes will be supplied, which will highlight the changes in the new release or patch update. New Releases – New release can occur within 12 to 18 months (approximately) after the last new release. Patch Updates – Patch updates can occur, if needed, within 1 to 2 months (approximately) after the last patch release. Each "new release" of a product, that include open source third-party libraries or prerequisites, will include the latest patch update for a currently commercially available version of that library. For example, if the product requires Java 1.8 to function, then the latest patch update for Java 1.8, such as 1.8.202, will be supported assuming that version 1.8 is still commercially available. Each "patch update" will be certified to work with the latest prerequisites patch version. Classes of Vulnerabilities Numecent classes vulnerabilities into one of two categories: Critical vulnerabilities - Vulnerabilities that can be exploited by an unauthenticated attacker over the network to compromise a system or user data, such as zero-day attacks. These vulnerabilities will have a CVSS rating of 7 or higher (https://www.cvedetails.com/). Non-critical vulnerabilities - All other issues that have a security impact. Fix or Corrective Action Numecent support the latest patch version for any prerequisites required by a supported product, such as Tomcat 8.5.x. We encourage all customers to maintain their environments with the latest operating systems patches and prerequisite patches. Support will post an announcement on the support portal and send an email to notify customers and partners about potential security issues with prerequisites. In the event of a critical vulnerability that affects an open source library used by a Numecent product, then a patch update will be expedited as an emergency hotfix. Customers will be notified to update. Reporting Security Vulnerabilities Numecent welcomes input regarding the security of its products and considers any and all potential vulnerabilities seriously. Please open a support ticket if you believe there is a potential security vulnerability and we will treat it with the highest urgency.

  • With the Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft introduced “Windows as a service” (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/waas-overview), also referred to as Evergreen, to constantly maintain and improve the operating system. This new service eliminated the need for upgrading to new Windows versions, but also means that large changes can be made to the current Window 10 system. These changes are made available in “preview” builds prior to being deployed via Windows Updates. Numecent continuously test against each Windows 10 preview build to ensure the Cloudpaging Player has no compatibility issues prior to the release of the next Windows 10 update. If any issues are identified, they will be fixed and a notification will be communicated from our Support team. Which Windows 10 versions (1709, 1803, etc…) are officially supported by Numecent? Microsoft generally releases updates twice a calendar year on a semi-annual channel. Numecent will support the versions which are serviced by Microsoft (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/). How long will the old versions be supported? While most older version of Windows 10 will continue to work with the Numecent products, the older versions will not have official support from Numecent after the end of service policy from Windows 10. (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/) How quickly will the new versions be supported? In general, all products will be ready by the time of the Windows 10 update is released. If there is an issue, Numecent will ensure that all products are verified to work with the newest Windows 10 update within 1-month from the Microsoft’s official general availability date.

  • In order to be used, the Cloudpaging system requires a product license key, which can be obtained from Numecent. The product key restricts how the Cloudpaging product can be used inside your environment. Please contact your Numecent sales representative to discuss licensing options. In order to obtain a product license key, you must send Numecent specific information on the server environment. The request must specify: IP Address(s) of the database(s) or database cluster DNS Name(s) of the Cloudpaging Servers or Load-balance switch used by Cloudpaging Players to connect to the Cloudpaging Servers NOTE - For a SQL cluster, only the IP of the cluster name is required. If a DNS name is used for the database, then all IP's available to the DNS should be specified in the product key. Please send this information using the attached document to [email protected]. Our team will return to you a product key containing this information along with the licensing terms you have selected. For questions about pricing and licensing options, please contact the Numecent Sales team. ARTICLE APPLIES TO VERSION 9.1 AND ABOVE

  • Cloudpaging will work with any VDI software and DaaS solutions, as long as the following requirements are met: Standard Windows Images are used on the Virtual Desktop (If using a server OS, this would limit the applications that can be Cloudpaged to ones that can be installed locally on the target OS) Supported OS's are used for these images (i.e. Windows 95 would not be a supported OS, however Windows 7 and above would be supported) The following VDI/DaaS solutions are known to work without issue with Cloudpaging. This is not an all inclusive list, however these are tested and in production by many customers: Amazon Workspaces Citrix Virtual Desktop (i.e. Xen Desktop) Citrix Virtual Apps (i.e. XenApp) Microsoft Virtual Desktop Microsoft Server Remote Desktop Server (i.e. Terminal Server) for 2012 R2 RDSH, 2016 RDSH, and 2019 RDSH Microsoft Hyper-V VMware Horizon View VMware ESXi Cloudpaging has been certified to work with Microsoft, Citrix, and VMware.
