Mr. Robert S. Silberman, also known as Rob, served as the Chief Executive Officer at Strayer Education Inc. from March 2001 to May 2, 2013. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Silberman served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of CalEnergy Company Inc. From 1993 to 1995, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and Assistant to the Chairman of International Paper Company. From 1989 to 1993, he served in several senior positions in the U.S. Department of Defense, including as an Assistant Secretary of the Army. He served as a United States Naval Officer. He served as Deputy Administrator of the United States Maritime Administration in the United States Department of Transportation. In 1990, he was appointed United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy. He was an Executive in Residence at New Mountain Capital, LLC from August 2000 to March 2001, where he was a Consultant. He has been the Executive Chairman of Strayer Education Inc. since May 2, 2013 and has been its Director since March 2001.
