George J. Schuller Jr. — President of Australia at Peabody Energy

Mr. George J. Schuller, Jr. has been the President of Australia at Peabody Energy Corporation since April 2017 and served as its Chief Operations Officer - Australia since May 2013. Mr. Schuller served as the Group Executive of Operations for Peabody Energy Australia at Peabody Energy Corp., Powder River Basin and Southwest U.S. mines, within the Americas business unit, which includes the North Antelope Rochelle Mine, the world's largest and most productive surface mine from October 23, 2012 to May 2013. Mr. Schuller has 27 years of operations experience across many disciplines, including mining engineering and operations leadership, across North America and Australia. He has executive responsibility for twelve open-cut and underground coal mining operations in Queensland and New South Wales, including oversight of safety, production, engineering and environmental activities. Mr. Schuller served as Group Executive of PRB and Southwest at Peabody Energy Corp. since March 17, 2011 and served as its Senior Vice President of Engineering Services. Mr. Schuller served as Vice President of New Mine Development at Peabody Energy Corp., since June 2008. Mr. Schuller served as Vice President of Continuous Improvement of Peabody Energy Corp., from February 21, 2007 to June 2008. He joined as a Mine Engineer in a Peabody's subsidiary in 1986. He served as General Manager of Underground Operations and General Manager of Mining Support for Peabody's Australian operations in Queensland, Australia. He also managed surface and underground mines in central and northern Queensland and served operational positions of increasing responsibility at mines in Kentucky and West Virginia. He has been Director of Peabody Energy Australia Pty Ltd. He has been a Director of Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd. since February 19, 2013. He served as a Director of Peabody (Bowen) Pty Ltd. since January 1, 2013 until May 24, 2017. He served as a Director of Wilpinjong Coal Pty Ltd. from January 1, 2013 to May 24, 2017. He holds many industry certifications and held various industry board positions in both Australia and the U.S, including current directorships on the boards of both the Australian Coal Association Limited and ACA Low Emissions Technologies Limited. Mr. Schuller holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Charleston in West Virginia and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University.
