Mr. Jeffery L. Klinger has been Vice President and General Counsel of Peabody Energy Corp. since February 2005. Mr. Klinger served as Company Secretary of Peabody Energy Corp. since February 2005. Mr. Klinger served as Vice President of Legal Services of Peabody Energy Corp. from May 1998 to February 2005 and its Assistant Secretary Until February 2005. Prior to that, Mr. Klinger served as Peabody Energy Corp.'s Secretary and Chief Legal Officer since October 1990. He served as Eastern Regional Counsel of Peabody Holding Company from 1986 to October 1990. From 1982 to 1986 served as Director of Legal and Public Affairs of Eastern Division of Peabody Coal Company and from 1978 to 1982 and served as Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Indiana Division of Peabody Coal Company. He served as President of the Indiana Coal Council and is a Trustee of the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation and a past Treasurer and member of its Executive Committee. Mr. Klinger is also a member of the National Mining Association's Legal Affairs Committee.
