Executive Bio
Mr. Keith C. Schmid has been the Chief Operating Officer of Plug Power Inc. since October 23, 2013 and its Senior Vice President since 2013. Mr. Schmid has more than 20 years of global experience in industrial business-to-business technology markets, holding positions in product design, engineering, marketing and manufacturing. He has a successful track record in driving growth through new product development, market entry, geographic expansion and acquisition. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Boston-Power, Inc. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Power Distribution Inc., since November 16, 2007 and served as its President. Mr. Schmid joined Power Distribution (PDI) from Exide Technologies, where he served as General Manager of Exide Industrial Energy - Americas. At Exide, he successfully build and managed Exide's most profitable P&L, representing a best-in-class business in the industry. He has extensive background in the power systems and energy storage industries. He is credited with spearheading the diversification of the product portfolio; executing and integrating strategic acquisitions; and establishing sales channels in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Earlier in his career, he held a series of executive-level positions at Exide Industrial Energy, GNB Technologies, Philips Consumer Communications and AT&T/Lucent Power Systems. He served as the Vice President of GNB Battery. He served as a Director of Valere Power Inc. Mr. Schmid earned an MS in Engineering Mechanics and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
