Q&A With Poll Everywhere Employees

Asked to all employees at Poll Everywhere

  • What are the biggest challenges that the company have? What goals are you trying to achieve? What are they doing currently to resolve the issues? What works and what doesn't work? What is the plan of action to solve the issues? When is the implementation of the plan? How do you solve issues that are not foreseen? Any emergency plan? What are the resources? Who are the key people needed to help solve the issues? How do you assess the effectivity of your solutions? Who holds the people dealing with the issues accountable? What is the timeframe to resolve the issues? How do you measure your progress? How do you know if you achieve your goal?

  • That depends entirely on the role, but you can expect some questions about your time at previous companies (expect to provide example stories about teamwork, etc.). You'll probably also spend some time working with the interviewers on a small project, call, or task, depending on what you're interviewing for. You might even end up having an unscripted lunch with the team.

  • Targeted and purposeful questions to get to know the customers better are the kind of questions during the interview.

  • Like everything else at Poll Everywhere, it's weird, but in a good way. Expect to meet some very smart, very kind people who will try very hard to not make things awkward for you. Our recruiting team's number one goal is to build an inclusive culture, so we standardize all of our interview processes, role by role, to weed out bias. We also vet our questions against best practices to remove preferential question types that unfairly favor one group over another.

  • Wear a business casual attire, no wrinkled clothing, no jeans, no rubber shoes, no open toed shoes or sandals. Look the part.

  • PollEvians tend to wear whatever the heck they want. About half go for a polished, urban chic with dark jeans, comfortable shoes, a jacket and tshirt. The other half wear hoodies and jeans and sneakers. I'd recommend aiming for the former, maybe with a button down shirt or a nice sweater, dark jeans, maybe a blazer if you feel good in one.

Asked to the Marketing Department at Poll Everywhere

  • The pace and scope of work can feel daunting sometimes. We're a very team-positive bunch, though. Not a lot of conflict or backbiting, although it's sometimes we have to pause and discuss if it's unclear who owns what deliverable or metric. As a company we value a healthy work/life balance, so it's rare that we spend late night hours on something. That said, we do sometimes pull out all the stops when there's just too much to get done in a 50-hour week.

  • We support each other, take up slack when someone has too much on their plate, work fast, and manage a lot of stories/channels/tactics both separately and together. It's a lot of introverts working together like introverts do, mostly on their own, but toward a shared goal. We're a growing team, so things change fast, but even with all the changes we still like each other, seek to grow, and look out for one another.

  • Poll Everywhere as a whole is big on independence and giving everyone a voice. Marketing is that way, too, but increasingly the team is aiming toward shared goals. Leadership is good about setting goals, making sure everyone knows what they own, and then letting them get it done without a lot of interference.
