What's the vibe like in the Engineering dept at PowerChord? How many hours are you working?
Generally, the vibe is positive and supportive. I work a lot--but I enjoy the work. I probably work 50 hours a week on average. Many of my co-workers work a standard 40 hour work week with an occasional push. My boss is not watching the clock.
The general vibe is great. Communication is generally unhindered, even despite co-workers in different locations and timezones. Usually, I put in 40 hours of work, occasionally staying late to meet a deadline, but others on the team are not so lucky.
How's the leadership on the Engineering team at PowerChord?
I found leadership to be patient, transparent, honest, and hard working.
The director of engineering is very smart and calculating, encourages transparency, and does a terrific job not practicing what he preaches.
What Engineering department questions did PowerChord ask during your job interview?
Real-world scenarios. Peer programming exercises.
Does PowerChord drug test or do a background check?
They did a background check on me.
What's the internship program like at PowerChord?
Digital Marketing has an annual program. I don't think other departments have interns.
How does PowerChord measure success and growth in the Engineering department?
Success is measured in the reduction of implementations and the acceleration of velocity. Next, I hope we measure quality and service level metrics.
How innovative is PowerChord?
PowerChord is working on some innovative things. I think 2019 will be a breakout year.
How's the work life balance at PowerChord?
Generally, the culture is 9-5.
How helpful was your Engineering team when you were first hired at PowerChord?
The engineering team was patient and supportive.

What's the office layout like at PowerChord?
Open office plan with glass offices with doors that do not seal, so there is lots of noise
What unique perks and benefits does PowerChord provide?
Fully stocked kitchen with the ability to request any food or drink item (within reason)
What's the pay like for Engineering roles at PowerChord?
There is no transparency with pay, so I do not know how I compare to others, but raises are invariably meager.
