Sumedh Thakar ā Chief Product Officer at Qualys

Mr. Sumedh S. Thakar has been Chief Product Officer of Qualys, Inc. since June 2014 and served as its Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Thakar oversees worldwide engineering and development for the QualysGuard software-as-a-service (SAAS) suite of services. He started at Qualys in 2003, architecting the QualysGuard PCI compliance platform to provide security solutions based on Payment Card Industry(PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) requirements. A core systems engineer and database expert, he has also led efforts to optimize performance of the QualysGuard platform to meet the demands of delivering comprehensive IT security and compliance solutions as a service for companies all over the world, including some of today's largest global enterprises. A long time believer in the SaaS model and cloud computing, Mr. Thakar worked at Intacct, a cloud-based financial and accounting software provider, before working at Qualys. Prior to Intacct, he worked at Northwest Airlines to develop complex algorithms for yield and revenue management for their backend reservation system. Mr. Thakar is active in the PCI community and works closely with the PCI Council on the development and enhancement of the DSS. He Co-authored PCI Compliance for Dummies, an easy-to-read guide designed to educate merchant organizations about PCI. Mr. Thakar has a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree with distinction from the University of Pune.
