Executive Bio

Dr. Pete Weiland joined Radiance in 1999 and oversees a wide gamut of research activities associated with the defense intelligence, aviation, space, directed energy and missile defense communities. His current research focus is on supporting Radiance efforts in hypersonics, directed energy, space, microelectronics, sensors, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Pete had a 20-year Army career as an officer, where he spent the last twelve years conducting research, development, and program management assignments including the TRADOC Artificial Intelligence Center, NASA Langley Research Center, the Army Space and Missile Defense Command, and THAAD Project Office. He is a graduate of the US Army Military Academy at West Point and received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Radiance Senior Technical Fellow.
