Bret Sewell — Senior VP & GM of Rambus Security Division at Rambus

Mr. Bret Sewell has been Senior Vice President and General Manager of Rambus Security Division of Rambus Inc. since December 4, 2017. Mr. Sewell is responsible for leading the development of mobile payments, smart ticketing, IoT security software and embedded cores of Rambus. Mr. Sewell serves as Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development at ChargePoint, Inc. Mr. Sewell has been an Executive Partner at Salt Creek Capital II, LLC since 2017. Prior to joining Salt Creek, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Synaptics. Mr. Sewell previously served as Senior Vice President of Marketing of Business Development and Corporate Development at Synpatics. He served as Executive in Residence at Artiman Ventures (now Artiman Management LLC). Mr. Sewell is a veteran of both Fortune 500 and startup companies and has more than 25 years of experience in Chief Executive Officer, general management and senior executive roles in both startup and established companies spanning systems, software and semiconductor product areas. Mr. Sewell served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Venturi Wireless, Inc. since December 5, 2005. He served as President of SnapTrack Inc. Mr. Sewell pioneered SnapTrack partnerships with DoCoMo, KDDI, Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, Bell Mobility, SK Telecom, KT Freetel, China Unicom and other carriers, as well as with wireless equipment manufacturers such as Motorola, Texas Instruments, Samsung, LG, NEC and Alcatel. He was instrumental in worldwide deployments that have resulted in more than 130 million SnapTrack-enabled wireless devices and supporting infrastructure. As Senior Vice President at Semiconductor Division at Qualcomm, Mr. Sewell spearheaded the mobile location systems market, developing and deploying systems. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Kiwi Networks. Earlier in his career, he built and led international divisions for Octel Communications and Aspect Telecommunications. Mr. Sewell served as General Manager/Managing Director of the Asia Pacific Divisions of Aspect Telecommunications and Octel Communications. He served as President of Octel's Japanese subsidiary. Earlier in his career, he served as Executive Vice President at ChargePoint, Inc. (formerly Coulomb Technologies, Inc.) since June 2010. Mr. Sewell earned his BA in biochemistry and biological anthropology from Harvard, his MBA in multinational finance from Wharton and his MA in international studies and Japanese from the University of Pennsylvania.
