Projects on the Platform often include value add renovations as part of their business plans. Aside from purely cosmetic improvements, the renovations often include improvements around reduction of water and power usage, installing LED lighting and low flow water fixtures work to reduce utility consumption and landscaping improvements that require less water to maintain. We are on the lookout for sponsors to work with that are making sustainability as part of their investment thesis. For example, a recent sponsor in Dallas, TX installed the largest residential solar array in the state. In addition, we look to work with sponsors who are utilizing breakthroughs in technology to drive down the carbon footprint of properties. For example a sponsor developed the largest mass timber project in the world in Milwaukee. Mass timber is a relatively new building material that utilizes cross laminated timber in lieu of concrete, which aside from the aesthetic beauty, acts as a carbon sequestration material.
