What's the company culture like at Retail Data Systems?
Horrible. Sales people are treated like royalty. They have no problem overselling their product, out pacing their tech teams, and not providing the resources necessary to their teams for things like training, networking with product specialists, etc.
What benefits does Retail Data Systems provide?
Health, with family plans, and Dental. 401k and a spurious profit sharing program.
What's the office vibe like at Retail Data Systems?
Tense. It's like living as a minor character in Game of Thrones, wondering when the folks battling around you will figure that you are no use to them anymore. People constantly sneaking around peoples backs in effort to make them look bad. It's bad enough that POS, in general, is a stressful field, but then you also have to put up with the office politics.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Retail Data Systems?
The culture in the various offices needs to be fixed. RDS treats sales people like royalty and techs like mindless drones - and they will hire mindless drones, so be prepared to do other people's work for them, or be called lazy. Instead of hiring people with big hearts and no talent at $9-$10/hr, try hiring smart people with computer knowledge who can actually do their job.
Does Retail Data Systems have any remote positions?
Remote positions are available, but if you are not in an office then you will likely be on 1099 contract and your future with the company will be uncertain, to say the least.
How does Retail Data Systems make decisions around promotions?
Promotions do not normally come with raises. Say you are being bumped from help desk tech to help desk manager. You will not receive a raise. You will also pick up a lot of new and unknown responsibilities in your new position. If you can't figure them out on your own fast enough, you will be let go.
How's the vacation policy at Retail Data Systems?
Vacation policy is average. After a couple years you can take two weeks.
How's the work life balance at Retail Data Systems?
Work outweighs Life at Retail Data Systems. They expect very hard workers for very low pay. Travel happens quite a bit, over night work happens quite a bit, and if you try to collect overtime you will be asked to take comp days instead. Good luck figuring out your comp hours, and be prepared to be called lazy for taking them.
