Q&A With Roostify Employees
Roostify is a team of innovative thinkers on a mission to reinvent the lending experience so people can accelerate their future. We make the process of getting a loan easier and more efficient for borrowers and lenders alike.
How employees describe working at Roostify
I think Roostify is at a crossroads. Several senior employees have left to pursue other opportunities so the workload can be heavy for those more senior members remaining. Overall, my experience with Roostify has been mixed. Some good, some bad.
Great company to work for
Overall, I enjoy working for Roostify. I really appreciate how the company cares about the people they work with (employees & customers). It feels like family here. Additionally, I like the direction the platform is taking, I feel that we have an amazing opportunity to really help our lenders
Review from Sales Dept
I love working here, certain pains due to being a start-up but everyone is well-aligned on where we're headed and how to get there.

How innovative is Roostify?
Top Employee Response
Execs are more focused on short term and derail product/ engineering innovation. Impressive that those teams are continuing to make some progress anyway.
Roositfy has spent significant energy over the last 2 years building out an innovative approach to providing a long term solution to it’s customers.
What's the office vibe like at Roostify?
Laid back SF casual
Increasingly stress laiden
How's the work life balance at Roostify?
Top Employee Response
Very bad. Engineers are working 70 or more hours and burning out, new management is only concerned with how much code you can get out not code quality. Most of the new management doesn't even program in the language the company uses.
No obligation or pressure to check devices when you get home
How does Roostify make decisions around promotions?
Since joining we’ve built out a transparent and fair score based system for my department
What do you wish you knew before starting at Roostify?
Friday’s are very slow in office, most people work from home
What are your coworkers at Roostify like?
Friendly, helpful, smart, genuinely want to do the right thing
What is the dress code at Roostify?
Casual - jeans and a t-shirt is great
What kind of people does Roostify like to hire?
People who show intellectual curiosity and own their actions
How can I get hired at Roostify as a recent grad?
Entry level positions are posted on the Careers page
Does Roostify drug test or do a background check?
Drug no, background yes
How does Roostify measure success and growth in the Customer Support department?
Typical ticket metrics along with contributions to knowledge base
Why work for Roostify?
Very good question - recommend waiting to see if the feedback improves on management direction
What's the work from home policy like at Roostify?
Very flexible
What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at Roostify?
Their interviews are super easy to be honest. The quality of your coworkers abilities will make sense should you be desperate enough to take this job.
What's the company culture like at Roostify?
Used to be really good, had good support for LGBTQ and POC's now Overly concerned about "who's going to look out for the white dude?" It's taken a huge hit in culture especially in the last 6 months and particularly since the current head of HR started.
What part of Roostify's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Code quality is going downhill very fast. Hiring contractors in india is not going to solve this. Hiring barely competent paper pushers who don't understand engineering isn't going to help you. Being too cheap to staff your most important teams with quality candidates and overworking the talent you have until they end up in the hospital is not going to help you.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Roostify?
Get rid of bad actors. Start recruitment processes that encourage diversity and talent instead of emphasizing being papered. Focus on code and being decent human beings. I have serious doubts any of the exec management is capable of doing that.
What do people at Roostify think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
I'm not sure you can stem the hemorrhaging you are experiencing. We lost both architects and don't have anyone to replace them, and many people who had domain knowledge are either no longer there or are leaving. Don't change people's end dates in order to avoid paying benefits. Stop protecting misogynistic and borderline racist coworkers over the voices of the ever fewer diverse employees you have. Stop hiring people for technical positions without any technical interviews. I could go on, but you get the point.
How's the vacation policy at Roostify?
They say it's unlimited in order to avoid payouts when you leave but will restrict you to 15 days.
Does Roostify have any remote positions?
They used to but with new management they are focusing on in office entirely. I can no longer suggest them as a place to work for women, remote workers or for People of color outside south asians.
