What's the interview process like at S&W Seed Company?
interview -> job offer -> background check. If the person fails the background check, the offer is revoked (this has happened a few times). Also, if the candidate is lucky, the dept doing the hiring will inform HR of the hiring before onboarding so their paperwork is ready to fill out.
What benefits does S&W Seed Company provide?
medical, vision, dental, HSA, 401k
How does S&W Seed Company make decisions around promotions?
You ask that question like people actually get promoted.
How's the vacation policy at S&W Seed Company?
You can ask for vacation but being approved is another story. Vacation also maxes out and they will still deny you vacation if you stop accruing.
How can I improve my chances of being hired at S&W Seed Company?
Apparently be really bad at whatever position you're applying for.
What kind of people succeed at S&W Seed Company?
Those in the highest levels of power that work in Finance.
How challenged are you at S&W Seed Company?
My only challenge is waking up every morning and not typing a resignation letter.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining S&W Seed Company?
That the great CEO with a promising company vision would be ousted 2 years later and would be replaced by a CEO that knows nothing about the business, the crops it farms, and is only focused on making the company desirable for sale.
How's the morale at S&W Seed Company?
Low, bordering on cynical.
How much diversity is there among employees at S&W Seed Company?
Finance feels like "forced diversity" as there are skillfully inadequate people assigned to different roles but fill a diversity checkbox. Overall, as a minority, I don't feel animosity from any of my direct co-workers.
What's the office layout like at S&W Seed Company?
Chaotic. Desk arrangements change on a person's whim with expectations of IT to accommodate data outlets, etc
What's the vibe like in the IT dept at S&W Seed Company? How many hours are you working?
24/7/365. Even with vacation time I am expected to answer to emergencies (or whatever someone deems an emergency) due to no backup IT person available (and no approval to hire). IT is seen as a money sink and is treated as a do-nothing department (unless something breaks, then I'm not doing my job).
What's the IT team like at S&W Seed Company?
It is one person doing the job of a system admin, network admin, DBA, help desk, backup manager, CTO (strategic planning, finance forecasting), and on occasion, a moving company (because the corporate office has changed addresses 3+ times in 3 years with expectation that IT will also move furniture). There is no backup operator for the sole IT coverage.
How's the leadership on the IT team at S&W Seed Company?
Nonexistent. No communication from C-level execs or the board regarding any changes to the company. Employees found out about a corporate office move from a public notice.
