You agree to indemnify, save, and hold Scribd, its affiliated companies, contractors, employees, agents and its third-party suppliers, licensors, and partners harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, including legal fees and expenses, arising out of Your use or misuse of Scribd, any violation by You of these Terms, or any breach of the representations, warranties, and covenants made by You herein. Scribd will use reasonable efforts to notify You of any such claim, action, or proceeding upon becoming aware of it.
15. Disclaimers; No Warranties.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE PURSUANT TO APPLICABLE LAW, SCRIBD, AND ITS AFFILIATES, PARTNERS, AND SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, STATUTORY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT OF PROPRIETARY RIGHTS. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED BY YOU FROM SCRIBD OR THROUGH THE SERVICES WILL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED HEREIN. YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AS USED IN THIS SECTION 15, THE TERM SCRIBD INCLUDES SCRIBDS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SHAREHOLDERS, AGENTS, LICENSORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS.
16. Limitation of Liability and Damages.
16.1 Limitation of Liability.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NEGLIGENCE, WILL SCRIBD OR ITS AFFILIATES, CONTRACTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR THIRD-PARTY PARTNERS, LICENSORS, OR SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, RELIANCE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES ARISING FROM ANY UNSUCCESSFUL COURT ACTION OR LEGAL DISPUTE, LOST BUSINESS, LOST REVENUES OR LOSS OF ANTICIPATED PROFITS OR ANY OTHER PECUNIARY OR NON-PECUNIARY LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER) ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THAT RESULT FROM YOUR USE OR YOUR INABILITY TO USE THE MATERIALS AND CONTENT ON SCRIBD OR ANY REFERENCE SITES, OR ANY OTHER INTERACTIONS WITH SCRIBD, EVEN IF SCRIBD OR A SCRIBD AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
16.2 Limitation of Damages.
IN NO EVENT WILL THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF SCRIBD OR ITS AFFILIATES, CONTRACTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR THIRD-PARTY PARTNERS, LICENSORS, OR SUPPLIERS TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES, LOSSES, AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS, YOUR USE OF SCRIBD OR YOUR INTERACTION WITH OTHER SCRIBD USERS (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE, WARRANTY, OR OTHERWISE), EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU, IF ANY, FOR ACCESSING SCRIBD DURING THE THREE (3) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE OF THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
16.3 Reference Sites.
THESE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY ALSO APPLY WITH RESPECT TO DAMAGES INCURRED BY YOU BY REASON OF ANY PRODUCTS OR SERVICES SOLD OR PROVIDED ON ANY REFERENCE SITES OR OTHERWISE BY THIRD PARTIES OTHER THAN SCRIBD AND RECEIVED THROUGH OR ADVERTISED ON SCRIBD OR RECEIVED THROUGH ANY REFERENCE SITES.
16.4 Basis of the Bargain.
YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT SCRIBD HAS OFFERED ITS PRODUCTS AND SERVICES, SET ITS PRICES, AND ENTERED INTO THESE TERMS IN RELIANCE UPON THE WARRANTY DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH HEREIN, THAT THE WARRANTY DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH HEREIN REFLECT A REASONABLE AND FAIR ALLOCATION OF RISK BETWEEN YOU AND SCRIBD, AND THAT THE WARRANTY DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH HEREIN FORM AN ESSENTIAL BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN YOU AND SCRIBD. SCRIBD WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO YOU ON AN ECONOMICALLY REASONABLE BASIS WITHOUT THESE LIMITATIONS.
16.5 Limitations by Applicable Law.
CERTAIN JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IF YOU RESIDE IN SUCH A JURISDICTION, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE DISCLAIMERS, EXCLUSIONS, OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, AND YOU MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL RIGHTS. THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS OF WARRANTIES, REMEDIES OR LIABILITY CONTAINED IN THESE TERMS APPLY TO YOU TO THE FULLEST EXTENT SUCH LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS ARE PERMITTED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE JURISDICTION WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED.
17. Dispute Resolution.
17.1 Governing Law.
If you live in the United States or any other region where the Services are made available (excluding Mexico and the Netherlands), these Terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law. If you live in Mexico, these Terms will be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Mexican States (Mxico). If you live in the Netherlands, these Terms will be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands.
17.2 Agreement to Arbitrate.
You and Scribd agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation or validity thereof or the use of Scribd or content available on Scribd (collectively, Disputes) will be settled by binding arbitration, except that each party retains the right: (i) to bring an individual action in small claims court and (ii) to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation or violation of a partys copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, patents or other intellectual property rights (the action described in the foregoing clause (ii), an IP Protection Action). Without limiting the preceding sentence, You will also have the right to litigate any other Dispute if You provide Scribd with written notice of Your desire to do so by email or regular mail at Scribd, Inc., 460 Bryant St, #100, San Francisco, CA 94107-2594 USA within thirty (30) days following the date You first agree to these Terms (such notice, an Arbitration Opt-out Notice). If Youdon'tprovide Scribd with an Arbitration Opt-out Notice within the thirty (30) day period, You will be deemed to have knowingly and intentionally waived Your right to litigate any Dispute except as expressly set forth in clauses (i) and (ii) above. The exclusive jurisdiction and venue of any IP Protection Action or, if You timely provide Scribd with an Arbitration Opt-out Notice, will be the state and federal courts located in the Northern District of California and each of the parties hereto waives any objection to jurisdiction and venue in such courts.
17.3 Class and Representative Action Waiver.
Unless You timely provide Scribd with an Arbitration Opt-out Notice, You acknowledge and agree that You and Scribd are each waiving the right to a trial by jury or to participate as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class action or representative proceeding. Further, unless both You and Scribd otherwise agree in writing, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims, and may not otherwise preside over any form of any class or representative proceeding. If this specific paragraph is held unenforceable, then the entirety of this Dispute Resolution section will be deemed void. Except as provided in the preceding sentence, this Dispute Resolution section will survive any termination of these Terms.
17.4 Arbitration Rules.
The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in accordance with the Commercial Arbitration Rules and the Supplementary Procedures for Consumer Related Disputes (the AAA Rules) then in effect, except as modified by this Dispute Resolution section. (The AAA Rules are available here or by calling the AAA at 1-800-778-7879.) The Federal Arbitration Act will govern the interpretation and enforcement of this Section.
17.5 Arbitration Process.
A party who desires to initiate arbitration must provide the other party with a written Demand for Arbitration as specified in the AAA Rules. The AAA provides a general Demand for Arbitration,a separate Demand for Arbitration for California residents, and other forms here. The arbitrator will be either a retired judge or an attorney licensed to practice law and will be selected by the parties from the AAAs roster of arbitrators. If the parties are unable to agree upon an arbitrator within seven (7) days of delivery of the Demand for Arbitration, then the AAA will appoint the arbitrator in accordance with the AAA Rules.
17.6 Arbitration Location and Procedure.
Unless You and Scribd otherwise agree, the arbitration will be conducted in the county where You reside. If Your claim does not exceed $10,000, then the arbitration will be conducted solely on the basis of the documents that You and Scribd submit to the arbitrator, unless You request a hearing or the arbitrator determines that a hearing is necessary. If Your claim exceeds $10,000, Your right to a hearing will be determined by the AAA Rules. Subject to the AAA Rules, the arbitrator will have the discretion to direct a reasonable exchange of information by the parties, consistent with the expedited nature of the arbitration.
17.7 Arbitrators Decision.
The arbitrator will render an award within the time frame specified in the AAA Rules. The arbitrators decision will include the essential findings and conclusions upon which the arbitrator based the award. Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof. The arbitrators award of damages must be consistent with the terms of the Limitation of Liability section above as to the types and amounts of damages for which a party may be held liable. If You prevail in arbitration You will be entitled to an award of attorneys fees and expenses, to the extent provided under applicable law. Scribd will not seek, and hereby waives all rights it may have under applicable law to recover, attorneys fees and expenses if it prevails in arbitration.
17.8 Fees.
Your responsibility to pay any AAA filing, administrative and arbitrator fees will be solely as set forth in the AAA Rules. However, if Your claim for damages does not exceed $75,000, Scribd will pay all such fees unless the arbitrator finds that either the substance of Your claim or the relief sought in Your Demand for Arbitration was frivolous or was brought for an improper purpose (as measured by the standards set forth in Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11(b)).
17.9 Changes.
Notwithstanding the provisions of the Modification of these Terms section above, if Scribd changes this Dispute Resolution section after the date You first accepted these Terms (or accepted any subsequent changes to these Terms), You may reject any such change by sending us written notice (including by email to [email protected]) within 30 days of the date such change became effective, as indicated in the Last Updated date above or in the date of Scribds email to You notifying You of such change. By rejecting any change, You are agreeing that You will arbitrate any Dispute between You and Scribd in accordance with the provisions of this Dispute Resolution section as of the date You first accepted these Terms (or accepted any subsequent changes to these Terms).
18. Miscellaneous.
18.1 Notice.
Scribd may provide You with notices, including those regarding changes to Scribds terms and conditions, by email, regular mail, or postings on a Scribd-affiliated website. Notice will be deemed given twenty-four hours after email is sent, unless Scribd is notified that the email address is invalid. Alternatively, we may give You legal notice by mail to a postal address, if provided by You. In such case, notice will be deemed given three days after the date of mailing. Notice posted on Scribd is deemed given ten days following the initial posting.
18.2 Waiver.
The failure of Scribd to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by Scribd.
18.3 Severability.
If any provision of these Terms or any Guidelines is held to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision will be limited or eliminated from these Terms to the minimum extent necessary and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
18.4 Assignment.
These Terms and related Guidelines, and any rights and licenses granted hereunder, may not be transferred or assigned by You, but may be assigned by Scribd without restriction. Any assignment attempted to be made in violation of these Terms shall be void.
18.5 Survival.
Upon termination of these Terms, any provision which, by its nature or express terms should survive, will survive such termination or expiration, including, but not limited to, sections 6-18.
18.6 Headings.
The heading references herein are for convenience purposes only, do not constitute a part of these Terms, and will not be deemed to limit or affect any of the provisions hereof.
18.7 Entire Agreement.
These Terms (including all Guidelines, Notices, and Terms incorporated herein) and the Subscriber Agreement as applicable, are the entire agreement between You and Scribd relating to the subject matter herein and will not be modified except in writing, signed by both parties, or by a change to these Terms or Guidelines made by Scribd as set forth in section 5 above.

By entering into the Agreement and electing to purchase an annual or monthly Subscription, You acknowledge that Your Subscription has recurring payment features and You accept responsibility for all recurring payment obligations prior to cancellation of Your Subscription by You or Scribd. We may also periodically authorize Your payment method in anticipation of applicable fees or related charges. Your Subscription continues until cancelled by You or we terminate Your access to, or use of, the Services or the Subscription in accordance with this Agreement (and the General Terms of Use which forms part of this Agreement).
Scribd may offer a free trial Subscription (Free Trial) for a specified period of time (Free Trial Term). If we offer You a Free Trial, the specific terms of Your Free Trial will be provided at signup and/or in the promotional materials describing the Free Trial. Free Trials may not be combined with any other offer. If you cancel your Free Trial before the expiration of the Free Trial Term, you may be eligible to use any unused portion of such Free Trial Term the next time you sign up for a Scribd Subscription, provided that Scribd continues to offer the Free Trial that you were previously offered. Except as may otherwise be provided in the specific terms for the Free Trial offer, Free Trials are only available to users who have not previously completed a Free Trial. Unless You cancel Your Subscription prior to the end of Your Free Trial, we (or our third party payment processor) will begin charging Your payment method on a recurring basis for the Subscription Fee (plus any applicable taxes and other charges) until You cancel Your Subscription. Instructions for cancelling Your Subscription are stated below under the Section titled Cancellation of Subscriptions. You will not receive a notice from us that Your Free Trial has ended or that the paid portion of Your Subscription has begun. We reserve the right to modify or terminate Free Trials at any time, without notice and in our sole discretion.
Refunds and Replacements. All fees and charges are nonrefundable and there are no refunds or credits, except as expressly set forth in our Refund Policy. In certain cases, if there is a defect in any Subscription Content, you may receive a replacement rather than a refund.
Cancellation of Subscriptions.
Cancellation. You may cancel Your Subscription through your account settings after logging into the Site or the App. You may also initiate cancellation of a Subscription by sending an email to [email protected] or submitting a cancellation request through the Scribd Support website. You will be responsible for all Subscription Fees (plus any applicable taxes and/or other charges) incurred before the effective date of your cancellation. If you cancel, your cancellation will be effective immediately, but Scribd will allow You to access the Subscription Content until the most recently paid-up Subscription period ends, and then will terminate Your access to Subscription Content, including any Subscription Content. Cancelling Your Subscription will not cancel Your Account. 8You will continue to be able to access such Subscription Content after cancelling Your Subscription, unless Your account is terminated. See Section 9 below titled Term and Termination, for information on terminating Your account. You agree that Scribd may terminate Your Subscription and/or account for non-payment of Subscription Fees. In the event of any cancellation or termination of your Subscription or account, we may remove and discard all or any part of Your account, User profile, and any content related to Your account, at any time.
Refunds. As defined in section 5 of this agreement, all fees and charges are nonrefundable, except as expressly set forth in our Refund Policy. Scribd will not refund Subscription Fees, either in full or in part, when a Subscription is cancelled or terminated.
Removal of Content. Scribd reserves the right to modify or withdraw at any time any Subscription Content from access by You at the request of its publisher or for any other reason. If Scribd removes or deletes a particular piece of Subscription Content, Scribd reserves the right to revoke Your access to the content. If Scribd revokes Your access, Scribd may provide a refund to You or offer You another form of compensation at Scribds sole discretion.
Term and Termination. This Agreement begins on the date on which You accept its terms and continues until terminated. We may terminate this Agreement (including Your subscription and/or account), or suspend or terminate the Services, with or without cause, at any time and without notice to You. Please refer to the General Terms of Use for additional terms applicable to the cancellation or termination of Your account. Upon any cancellation or termination of this Agreement and/or Your account, the rights and licenses granted to You under this Agreement will automatically terminate. This means that, among other things, You will no longer have access to Subscription Content.

Scribd is available worldwide! Going on a vacation somewhere fun? Bring us along! You can take Scribd with you when you travel by installing our app on one of your mobile devices and saving books for offline reading. No internet connection is no reason to be without book options!

We understand that this can be frustrating and are working hard to make every book available to every reader. Rest assured: Most of our library is available worldwide, and if one title isn't, there are plenty of others to choose from.
What mobile devices can I use with Scribd?
You're always ready to read books on Scribd through a web browser on any computer, or using the web-browser built into almost all smartphones and tablets. Along with that, you can install our apps on your iPhone or iPad (iOS 10 or higher is required), your Android device (Android 5.0 or higher is required), your Fire tablet, or your Nook Tablet to store books for offline reading when an internet connection isn't available.
Readers with other web-connected tablets can use Scribd from the mobile website. Unfortunately, e-ink readers like the Kindle Paperwhite or Nook Simple Touch are not supported.

Need some more help finding your next literary adventure? Check out our article with tips and tricks on exploring our library here.
Is there a way to use Scribd for free?
A subscription with us isn't necessary if youd like to upload documents, and many documents shared on Scribd can be read without a subscription. However, to access Scribds extensive library of bestsellers and new releases, you'll need to purchase a membership. In some cases, full versions of documents available on Scribd may also only be visible to Scribd subscribers.
If youd like to explore our library and see what books are available, our best recommendation is to sign up for a free trial. Your subscription will renew each month for as long as it remains active after the free trial period. Cancel before your trial period ends and youwon'tbe charged! If youre not ready to sign up for a free trial, no problem you can also browse through our full catalog, install our mobile apps, and read free excerpts of all books without ever needing to enter payment details.
Are authors being paid when I read books this way?
Of course! Credit is paid where credit is due. Scribds membership service operates legally through agreements we've made with our authors and publishing partners. Editing your Scribd profile
Your public profile page is where information can be found about you by other members of Scribd. Whether you're an author who wants to display a bio or a reader who wants to update their profile picture, you can change what's displayed on your public profile by editing your Account Settings.
While logged onto your account on the Scribd website, click on the user icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page you'll find it next to the 'Upload' and language selection buttons. When you click the icon, a drop-down navigation menu appears and you'll be able to select the Account Settings link. This is where all the editing magic will happen!
contact Scribd support
Here, you can change your username, password, and email address by clicking the "Edit Profile" link. This page allows you to link or unlink your Scribd profile to Facebook as well.
You can also input a full name to be displayed on your page, add a short bio to your About Me section, and add a photo to your profile.
If you've linked Facebook to your Scribd account, your Facebook profile photo will automatically be added to your profile on Scribd. If you want to change that picture, click on the "Upload New Image" link right under your picture in your Account Settings. Any changes you make to the photo image on Scribd won't affect your Facebook profile.
How much of my Scribd profile is public?
Scribd profiles are public, but the majority of your information is private. Facts like your username, public reading lists you'vecreated, any documents you've shared publicly, and your "About Me" section are public.
However, most of your information and activity on Scribd is private because we take your online privacy very seriously.
Number one: no one can access your email address unless you've made it available on your public profile.
Number two: nothing that you've saved or recently read is viewable to the public, unless you specifically create a public reading list. Your saved titles and reading activity are for your eyes only. Only you will know whetheryou'vebeen reading that trendy bestseller, diving into a great self-improvement title, or if youre marathoning romance novels! No one else will see youre starting your seventeenth reread of your favorite novel before you get around to that book club selection - weve got you covered.
That goes for everyone: anything you have read or saved for later can only be seen by you, while logged into your account.
You can check out how others see your profile at any time by going to the 'Public Profile' link under the navigation menu. Our Privacy Policy also has more information about your privacy on Scribd.
If you have any further questions about your public profile or editing how the world sees you on Scribd, youre always welcome to were here to help!

From there, all you need to do is click the "Edit Profile" link and then enter a new username and email address under the appropriate sections and hit 'Save' at the bottom of the page.

First, you'll want to head on over to the Account Settings for your Scribd profile. To get there, log into your account on the Scribd website, then just click your user icon in the upper righthand corner, and select the "Account Settings" option from the menu that appears.
If all you've been using is the Facebook option, you need to create a password to use on Scribdbefore unlinking the two profiles. To do this, click the "Set Scribd Password" link in your Account Settings to enter a password unique to your Scribd account:

Once you have a password attached to the account, or if you already have a password attached to the account because you've logged in via your username and password before, you can unlink the two profiles by clicking the 'Disconnect Facebook' option under the blue 'Logged in with Facebook' button.
We'll just add another reminder, make sure if you're disconnecting the two profiles that you have an email address attached to your Scribd account first!
Once you've unlinked the accounts, you won't be able to log on through the Facebook button after that.If you click that button after the two are unlinked and you haven't relinked them, you'll create a new Scribd account. Just be careful with that since we don't want you to end up under the wrong account without a premium membership you may have purchased!
If you miss the quick one touch button, login with your username and password, go to your Account Settings once again, and select 'Connect to Facebook' to get the two linked together once more.

Getting the most from your account
Welcome to Scribd! Were delighted that you'd like to join us. There are a few different ways you can create an account we like to make it as easy as possible so everyone can enjoy what Scribd has to offer!
Signing up through Scribd
To create a basic, free account on Scribd, you just need to click on Join in the top-right corner of the site, or click the "Sign Up" link at the bottom of the "Sign In" window. Itll bring up box that looks like this one:
contact Scribd support
As you can see, all that you need to do is type in your name, your email address, think up a password to protect your account, and click Sign Up. And youre done! Its that simple to start using Scribd.
Signing up through Facebook
Another option would be to sign up using your Facebook account by clicking the blue button with the Facebook symbol on it. Scribd does not require you to use Facebook or to link Facebook to your Scribd profile, but it is an easy way to have a more personal profile on Scribd. Youll be prompted to allow Scribd to access some of your Facebook profile data, and youll have to agree to this in order to proceed with this sign-up method.
When you use the "Sign Up With Facebook" option, your Facebook account credentials are what you'll use to log into your account. If you'd like to set a password for your Scribd account so that you can also log into Scribd without using your Facebook account, you can do this in your Account Settings page.
A bit of a warning: if you already have a Scribd account that you created which is not linked to your Facebook profile, and then you log on using Facebook, youll actually end up creating a second, separate Scribd account. If this happens to you, you can always contact Scribd support and we'll help get things sorted out for you!
Signing up through Google
You can also use your Google account to register an account with Scribd. While it's absolutely not mandatory, linking your Scribd account to your Google account will allow you to sign in using Google on any device you choose to read on!
Not sure if you already have a Scribd account registered? If you already have a Scribd account registered with the email address associated with your Google account, signing up through Google will link your Google account to the existing Scribd account registered with that email address.
Once you've registered a Scribd account using your Google account, you'll be able to use the "Continue with Google" option on your Scribd account to log in on your device of choice!
Please note: When you use the "Sign Up With Google" option, your Google account credentials are what you'll use to log into your account. If you'd like to set a password for your Scribd account so that you can also log into Scribd without using your Google account, you can do this in your Account Settings page.
Getting the most from your account
Onceyou'vesigned up, you can come back and enjoy Scribd anytime by clicking on Log In which is right above the sign up link. You'll just have to enter in your email address or username and your password (or click that blue button if you went the Facebook route) and you'll be connected to Scribd.

You'll be able to see what books they've liked or commented on to help you gain insight to what's great in Scribd's collection from sources you trust.
That's cool, but I don't even know what Scribd is so why's my Facebook information on the site?
If you ever visited Scribdbefore August 2013while you were logged into your Facebook from your computer or mobile device, we may have used your public information from Facebook to create a personalized reading experience for you instantly. In the beginning of our partnership with Facebook, we took part inFacebook's InstantPersonalizationtool. In their own words:
"Just as your News Feed on Facebook is built uniquely for you, instant personalization sites let you easily bring your friends and interests with you.Partners adhere to Facebook's guidelines and may only use your public information to serve you a personalized experience. Public information includes your name, profile picture, gender, networks, and other information you've made public."
We no longer participate in instantly creating a personalized experience with your Facebook public profile without you signing onto Scribd with the 'Login with Facebook' option.
You can access the personalized profile created with your Facebook account at anytime by using the blue 'Login with Facebook' button.
To remove Facebook from your Scribd profile but maintain an account with us, you'll need to unlink your Facebook account from your profile.
You're also able to control whether companies, along with Scribd, can access your information from your Facebook privacy settings.By removing Scribd from the list of allowed apps, you'll instantly remove the profile from Scribd.
A word of caution! If you've purchased a membership with Scribd, you may lose access to it or any other purchases you've made if you disconnect the profiles from the Facebook privacy settings. We delete the information when you disconnect through Facebook. It's maintained if you unlink the two on our site.

What devices work with the Scribd app?
The Scribd app works on a variety of internet-connected mobile devices and ebook readers. We're working on expanding the platforms that Scribd is available on all the time, but currently you'll be able to enjoy the Scribd app with the following devices:
If you use an iPhone or iPad with iOS 10 or newer, check out the Scribd app in the Apple App Store to enjoy an optimized reading experience on any size screen. Once again,it does require iOS 10 or newer. We apologize for any inconvenience to the iOS 9 users out there. You can still enjoy Scribd on the mobile website but will not be able to use the Scribd app.
If your iOS device is paired with an Apple Watch, all you have to do is start playing an audiobook from the Scribd app on the device and you'll be able to control playback using "Now Playing" on your Apple Watch. We don't currently have a standalone Apple Watch app, so if you've got Scribd installed on your iPhone or iPad, you're all set!
If you have an Android device, be it a smartphone or tablet, our app only requires Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or newer. Set it up and start reading today by downloading the app from Google Play !Please note: We actively support Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and newer. Devices with Android 4.4 (KitKat) installed will not be able to update the Scribd app beyond version 9.6.0. Meanwhile, devices running Android 4.3.1 (Jelly Bean) and earlier are no longer supported and the Scribd app is unavailable on these devices. When youre connected to the internet, you can visit the Scribd website using the web browser on these devices.
For Fire tablets, access to Scribd can vary depending on your device model. Generally 4th generation tablets and later should be able to support the latest version of the Scribd app. If you're running Fire OS 5 or later, you can enjoy Scribd right on your e-reader. Just download the app ! Our Kindle Fire installation page has a full step-by-step guide on how to get reading with Scribd on your Fire tablet.
If you have a Nook Tablet or Samsung Galaxy Tab Nook running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or newer, you can install our Android app directly from Google Play !
Unfortunately, some ebook readers can't connect to Scribd on the web or run the Scribd app, such as the Nook GlowLight, Kobo, and most versions of the Kindle. Generally speaking, you won't be able to use Scribd to its full potential with these devices compared to devices like the Fire or Nook tablets.
Is there a limit on how many browsers or devices I can use?
We do have measures in place to help prevent abuse of the site. You'll be able to read any title from the Scribd collection using up to 3 different browsers or computers within a 24-hour period. If you're using the Scribd app, you can save content on up to 4 devices for offline reading and can open any given title on up to 6 devices, although this may change for specific titles depending on the agreements that we have in place with our publishing partners. If you end up getting a message that you're using Scribd on too many devices but haven't used more than 3 browsers in a 24-hour period or used over 4 mobile devices, please contact Scribd support and we'll be able to sort out the issue for you.
How do I install the Scribd app onto my Fire tablet?
The Scribd app for Fire tablets can be downloaded from our Scribd for Kindle Fire Installation page.
Scribd supports several models of the Fire tablet, dependent on the OS that is installed on it. The minimum requirements for installation is that the device either run Fire OS 5 or later, or run software that is the equivalent of Android Lollipop or later. This means you can use the Scribd app on 4th generation Fire tablets and newer examples of devices we're compatible with include the Fire HD 8 and the Fire HD 10.
We apologize that we no longer support the following devices: Kindle Fire HD 8.9" (2012), Kindle Fire HD 7" (2012), Kindle Fire (2012) - 2nd gen, Kindle Fire (2011) - 1st gen.
Scribd is not currently compatible with e-ink based Kindle readers like the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kindle DX, as these devices do not allow third-party applications.
Use the premium membership to read to your heart's content!
Onceyou'veinstalled the Scribd app on your device you can jump right into reading using your existing Scribd account by tapping "Sign In". If you need to create one, you can do so through the app as well! Just follow the prompts to "Join Now" and follow the instructions.
If you have any other questions about installing the Scribd app, please contact Scribd support we're always glad to help. Happy reading!

I'd like to learn more about Scribd premium memberships.
Is there anything better than a good book? We sure don't think so. So then what's a better way to show someone that you care than giving them access to over half a million books? Someone's birthday coming up? Want to send the best 'Thank you' note ever? Need a gift for that book lover that's so hard to buy for? Gift a Scribd membership and give them hundreds of thousands of books to enjoy at their heart's content! That's the best gift we could think of, too.
How do I send someone a Scribd gift membership?
Its easy! First, click here to open the gift purchase page. Select the duration of membership time (3, 6, or 12 months) and write a personal message, then fill in the recipients information. Next, decide how and when you wish it to be delivered -- we can either email the card for you (now or at a later date) or you can print it out and hand-deliver it yourself.
What kinds of gift memberships are available?
You can select from three options: 3 months for $25 USD, 6 months for $50 USD, or 1 year for $100 USD.
How does the recipient redeem a Scribd gift membership?
Once your lucky recipient has received their code, there are a few ways to redeem:
If we sent them their e-card via email, they just need to click on the link included in the email to view their card and redeem it, it will say 'Redeem Now'.
They can head over to www.scribd.com/redeem and enter in the gift code.
If you decided to print out the card, then the instructions will be listed with it.
What if the person I give a Scribd gift membership to is already a paying member?
Thats ok! The time value of the Scribd gift subscription will be applied to their existing subscription. They just need to log into their Scribd account and go through the redemption process. Once theyve redeemed the gift membership on their account, they won't be charged for their regular subscription until your gift expires!
If your recipient has an active Scribd subscription through iTunes, theyll need to cancel their subscription prior to redeeming the gift. The same is true for some of our longtime PayPal subscribers (more recent subscribers using this payment method should be able to apply gift subscriptions as normal). We know its a bit of a hassle for these subscribers to use a gift membership, and for that we apologize. Due to restrictions on adjusting these payment methods, we are unable to modify subscriptions purchased via iTunes or PayPal directly, which includes automatically adding gift membership time to an existing subscription. Not to worry, heres a quick overview of this process and what to expect:
First, the existing iTunes or PayPal subscription will need to be canceled. Please refer to our article How do I cancel my Premium membership? for specific instructions, particularly for iTunes subscribers.
Once the membership is canceled, it will need to expire. This means waiting until the end of the subscription period - for example, if your membership billed you on the 15th and is then canceled, it will remain active until the 15th of the next month.
After the subscription expires, the gift code can be redeemed by heading to www.scribd.com/redeem !
During this process, including waiting for the subscription to expire, the membership will remain active, with full access to all of the premium Scribd features. The transition should be seamless and easy and they can always contact Scribd support to check the status of their account!
What devices can members use to access the Scribd library?
The Scribd app is available on iOS/iPad OS devices (iOS 10 or newer), Android devices (Android 5.0 or newer), and devices like Fire tablets and the Nook Tablet. Readers can also use Scribd through a laptop or desktop browser, so your recipient should have no trouble reading on Scribd. If youre interested in using our Scribd app, check out our article Installing the Scribd app for more information and detailed installation instructions.
Do Scribd gift memberships expire?
Scribd gift membership codes have no expiration. If your recipient isn't quite ready to read, no need to worry! They can redeem the code at a later date when they're ready to dive into a good book.
Is this a physical gift card?
E-cards are sent by email with the gift code to redeem the purchase, but if you prefer a physical gift, you can always print out the customized card and give it to the recipient in person. That way you can see that big smile they'll get when they realize they now have access to more books than they can read in a lifetime.
Idon'thave the email of the person I want to give this to. What do I do?
Dont stress, you can give Scribd gift cards the old school way!
During the customization process of purchasing the gift, choose the Print option, and well send you a printable template of the gift card. Print the card out, and you can snail mail or deliver it by hand. That way theres nothing to worry about if you don't know their email address, and they'll have a physical card to enjoy!
Im purchasing this gift card today so Idon'thave to stress about it anymore, but Idon'twant the recipient to get it until later. What do I do?
We understand; you want to plan ahead and not be caught by surprise when the big occasion finally comes up, we totally get it. You can schedule the email to be sent on a future date! Or, simply go with the physical card option: print it out, and hand-deliver it when the day arrives. But never fear, if you want to buy ahead, you just have to put in the date that you want it emailed to your gift recipient and we'll email it that day, and send you a confirmation when it's done.
Im trying to send a Scribd Gift Membership to someone in another country. Is that ok?
Of course Scribd is available worldwide! Scribd can be accessed in any country unless local service providers or authorities have blocked it. For specific international questions, please contact us.
I just received an e-card for a Scribd gift membership. What is that?
A Scribd gift membership provides access to the entire premium Scribd library, with over 500,000 titles from 900+ publishers, including bestsellers and new releases. We have ebooks, audiobooks, sheet music, articles, and more available on Scribd. Scribd is available as an app on your phone or tablet, or in your browser, so you can read anywhere, anytime. Do I need to enter my credit card information in order to redeem a gift card?
Not at all! It's a gift, all paid for and ready for you. You just need to sign up for a free account or log into Scribd's website to redeem your gift card and start reading. Go to www.scribd.com/redeem to take advantage of the gift you received!

View ArticleScribds Unlimited* Subscription
We updated our subscription to give you access to an unlimited* number of books and audiobooks each and every month! You read that right, as of February 2018, weve done away with credits for books and audiobooks without raising our price.
We've received tons of feedback since launching our Monthly Credits system. In response, we were extremely excited to announce our new subscription model that does not use Monthly Credits for full access to our regular catalog of ebook and audiobook publisher-provided content. With this plan, you'll have access to our constantly rotating catalogs of ebooks and audiobooks, no Monthly Credits required!
As always, your subscription continues to bring you access to news, magazines, and documents, including articles from Bloomberg Businessweek, Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Mens Health, New York Magazine, and more.
Scribds unlimited service launched on February 6, 2018, and includes access to an unlimited number of books and audiobooks, alongside unlimited access to news, magazines, documents, and sheet music.
What did this change for existing Scribd members?
Not much at all! You'll notice a slight change to your browsing experience: the Scribd Selects catalog has been removed and you will no longer see the unlimited toggle in search filters. Without the need for Monthly Credits for full access to titles available on Scribd, there's no longer a need for a separate Scribd Selects or unlimited catalog! If you find a book or audiobook that strikes your fancy, just start reading or listening - we'll handle everything else on our end.
With this new subscription plan, we have constantly rotating catalogs of titles that will be fully available to you without the need of using credits to redeem full access. If you're only seeing a preview of a specific title, you should also see a notification of exactly when that book or audiobook will become fully available to you. If that's the case, that title will become fully available to you on the listed date for that titles "About" page. If it's a title that you've already added to your Saved titles page, you'll see it in the "Available Soon" section right up top.

View ArticleWe do not send an automatic invoice for subscription renewals after the initial purchase receipt. If you need an invoice for recurring subscription charges, please contact Scribd support for assistance and we'll manually generate an invoice for you.
If you have an email address attached to your Scribd account, you'll receive a receipt with the invoiceafter completing your initial purchase. This receipt will include your Scribd order ID and purchase information. It's usually straight to your email within a few minutes, but we do have an abuse-prevention system which can delay the delivery of emails for up to three hours. Before letting us know that you didn't receive a receipt from us, please:
Check any spam or junk folder to make sure that it didn't accidentally end up in there. It's common for our password reset tools to end up in those kinds of folders, so it wouldn't be surprising if mailboxes don't understand how important your receipt is either.
Search your email for the address" [email protected] ". It'd also be helpful in the future to add this to your list of contacts so that future correspondences aren't lost in the spam folders unintentionally.

View ArticleScribd knows what you came here for. It's not because it's a cool name, it's because Scribd has a huge collection of books for you to read right at your fingertips. So let's cut to the chase and get you what you want: all the books you can handle. There are two ways you can find titles you're interested in: bysearchingor byexploring. Which one you choose will depend onwhat you have in mindfor your next great book.
Searching for content
Exploring for content
Searching for content
If you already know what you want, you'll want to use the 'Search' box at the top of most pages on Scribd's website. This will allow you to search for all sorts of fun stuff - from Documents to specific authors, our search tool is your key to finding everything Scribd has to offer.
To start a search, click anywhere in the "Search" box and then type an author's name, a book title, or any keywords, then press "enter" on your keyboard to start your search. You'll be brought to a landing page that includes some highlights from every option related to your search term:
contact Scribd support
Filtering search results
Generally speaking, more than one result will appear and you can filter through all results by clicking on a particular filter from the top row of content type options, such as "Books", "Audiobooks", or "Articles". We offer even more filters to narrow down the results after that too!
So, if you were looking for just ebooks related to "cat facts", you would click the "Books" filter from the top:
This would then bring you to all Scribd search results for "Books" related to "cat facts". Once you've chosen "Books" as your main filter, you now have even more options such as interest, language, or the date it was added:
Still not seeing what you're looking for? Try our Advanced Search options!
Exploring for content
If you don't have a specific title in mind but have a general idea of what you're looking for (we've all been there), no worries -we've got you covered! Just click on the content type that strikes your fancy on the left, and you'll be taken to the Overview page for that content library ("Books", "Audiobooks", "Documents", "Magazines", and "Sheet Music").
By default, the Overview tab will load first and you'll see titles you've saved using our "Save for Later" feature up top. Scroll through the Overview page for recommendations tailored just for you! Interested in a specific genre? Select the "Categories" tab and you'll see a list of available genres for that content type. The "Editors Picks" section is a curated list of our editors' picks, updated weekly.
Browsing by Genre:
When you select a specific interest or genre to browse through (such as "Contemporary Fiction"), you'll be taken to the overview page for that genre, where you can also select the content type. You'll see a few curated lists of titles included like "Recommended for You", "New & Noteworthy", and "Bestselling":
Throughout the overview of any given interest or category, you'll find various selectionsof books curated by our editorial team. Simply click on the title of the collection to browse all of the titles, or the arrows on either side to scroll through the titles:
When you scroll to the bottom of anoverview page, you'll find the option to view all the titles of that interest. There, you can sortresults based on content type and sort titlesyou see based on it's 'bestselling' status or by titles that have been recently added to Scribd!
Happy reading!
While Scribd staff can not search on your behalf or send content directly to you, we are more than happy to assist with any technical issues or questions you may have! Just anytime for help. Happy reading!
View ArticleOur BookID copyright protection system is one of the ways that we help to protect the rights of authors and publishers. As with any automated system, it occasionally makes mistakes.
BookID algorithmically analyzes computer-readable text for semantic data that is then encoded into a digital "fingerprint." BookID includes fingerprints from educational textbooks and other works that contain long excerpts of classic literature, religious texts, legal documents, and government publications that are typically in the public domain. This occasionally results in the removal of non-copyrighted, authorized, or public domain material from Scribd. If you have received a notification that your work was removed by BookID and you feel the removal was improper, forward the notification to [email protected] along with an explanation of your concern. We will review each case as quickly as possible.

My Author Profile
Scribd is all about getting great content to every reader in the world whether it's from major publishing companies or self-published authors. We know a good book is a good book no matter who publishes it, and we're delighted to welcome any and all authors who wish to share their work on Scribd!
If you're already published on Scribd through one of our publishing partners, we're so happy to have your work on Scribd! We know you may have questions about Scribd and specifically what it means to have your work published on the site, and were here to help.
But also, if you're a self-published author looking to be included in Scribd's premium membership program, we'd love to have you too! All you need to do to get your books in our program is to share your work via one of our publishing partners Smashwords, INscribe Digital, BookBaby, Draft2Digital, or Findaway Voices and your book will available on Scribd for our members! You do have to work with one of those publishing companies however, and we apologize that we are not accepting individual authors directly on Scribd at this time.
For all our authors in the program, weve provided answers to some commonly asked questions below. If you still have questions or theres anything else we can assist you with, please contact Scribd support and let us know!
My Content and Payment
Q: How do I earn royalties for my books on Scribds membership service?
A: The short answer: when a member reads a certain percentage of your book, you get paid as if you had sold the book in an ebook retail store. But theres more to your royalty terms than this. Scribd has signed distribution agreements with each of our publishing partners, and we recommend you direct questions about specific payment terms to the distributor you've chosen.
Q: Are my books available for free on Scribd?
A: As part of Scribd's membership program, your books are available in their entirety for premium members to read. Each member pays a monthly subscription fee for access to our library of premium content. If you're a premium member, you'll be able to read your own books in full as well as many others, but people who haven't yet joined will see only short previews of the books. To see what your books look like to non-members, log out of Scribd and view them again.
Q: How do I see how many sales I am generating?
A: Your sales record for Scribd are updated regularly and you can find information on the number of sales through your distributors' reporting system. You will need to contact the company you've used to publish your work on Scribd to obtain your reports.
Q: My Stats page is empty, but my books show they've been viewed. Why?
A: Your 'Stats' page on Scribd won't show content delivered to us by the publishing partner you've chosen. Instead, Document Stats will display information about documents you've uploaded directly to Scribd. (Please note youll only see the Document Stats page appear in your Scribd account menu ifyou'veuploaded public documents.) You can find view counts for your books by going to their reading pages, but keep in mind that these view counts don't distinguish between premium members who read all of a book and those who read just the preview. Any and all views are counted.
Q: How do I upload new books?
A: To include new books in Scribd's premium program as a self-published author, publish them as usual with the ebook distributor of your choice and they'll automatically be distributed to Scribd if you've opted to have them shared on our platform.
The blue "upload" button on Scribd cannot be used to add books to our premium service, so you shouldn't upload your books that way. However, Scribd is also a great place to share supplementary materialessays, letters to fans, flyers for upcoming book signings. If you'd like to share anything like this with your readers on Scribd, you may like to check out more of our guides for authors and publishers.
Q: Where can I find more information about how Scribd fights copyright infringement?
A: Please see our Copyright Center for answers about many topics relating to how Scribd fights copyright infringement and unauthorized content.
Q: How can I promote my books on Scribd?
A: Your author profile page is your promotional hub on Scribd. All your books can be found there, along with your author bio. This page is public on the web, so you can start promoting your books on Scribd by tweeting, posting on Facebook, and otherwise sharing the link to your profile page. You can also promote your work by sharing direct links to your books.
Q: How do I share a free preview of my book?
A: It's already done for you! Check out how to go about sharing the free preview with people here.
Q: How do I access and edit my author profile page?
A: First, you must claim your profile ( see directions below ). Once claimed, you can access your profile page by logging into your Scribd account and clicking on your user icon in the upper-righthand corner. When the drop-down navigation menu appears, choose Public Profile to view your author page or select "Account Settings" to edit it.
Q: What are some benefits of distributing my books on Scribd?
A: Scribd has an established, global audience of over 80 million users, who can now discover your books on Scribd. Every time a member reads your book (past a certain preview threshold) you are paid as if you had sold it. This makes Scribd a great way to get your books in front of a new audience that can try your books at no extra cost to them while creating a new revenue channel for you.
Q: What is Scribds policy on adult content?
A: Erotic fiction may be allowed on Scribd. However, some types of explicit content may not be accepted into our library. The publisher you work with to share books to our premium library may also have their own guidelines that impact where they choose to distribute your books. We recommend reaching out to your publisher for more details.
Q: Ican'tfind my books on Scribd. Why not?
A: There are a few possible reasons. First, we recommend trying a search for your titles using quotation marks around your search term to help restrict the results. (For instance, you might search for The Secret Life of Bees within quotation marks, instead of The Secret Life of Bees, without.) If you stillcan'tfind your book and you have opted to distribute it on Scribd, please contact us and well look into whats happening.
Q: My books are marked unavailable. Why?
A: If you see that your book is marked unavailable" it simply means that it is not in the membership program. There are two likely reasons it may not be available:
It is very short. Some very short books have been excluded.
It contains explicit content. Some explicitly erotic content may not be included for distribution in our premium library.
If you have any questions about why your book is unavailable in our library, we recommend reaching out to your publisher for more details. If you still have questions youre always welcome to contact us, and well be glad to help in any way we can!
My Author Profile
Q: What kind of changes can I make to my author profile?
A: You can change your display name, profile picture, and share your bio on your profile page. The help topics in Your Account can provide specifics on how you can do this.
Q: How do I claim my author profile and get started?
A: The first thing to do is contact Scribd support. We will need to verify that the author profile that you are trying to claim is indeed yours, so please include any information you can to help with that process and well handle the rest.
Q: What if I have an existing Scribd account?
If you have an existing Scribd account and also publish books through a distributor, Scribd staff can merge the two accounts together. This will allow you to keep your Scribd accounts' history and manage your public author profile. You'll need to contact us so we can process this for you - its especially helpful if you can provide a link to both profiles along with your request.
Q: What do I get with an author profile?
A: With a profile on Scribd, you can be part of the Scribd community as both an author and a reader. Youll be able to create reading lists to share on Scribd with your fans and upload supplementary documents for your readers to enjoy. If youd like, you can purchase your own premium membership to enjoy unlimited access to Scribds library of over 500,000 books. Besides that, you can also check on your own books anytime and update your account information whenever you need to.
If you have any questions that weren't answered here, our other FAQs might be able to help. Otherwise, please contact Scribd support anytime and we'll be happy to assist you!
Happy publishing!

We have become aware of a deliberate attempt to access email addresses and usernames of registered Scribd users. Scribds security team has identified the vulnerability and eliminated the possibility that it can be exploited in the future.
Based on our investigation to date, the information accessed was limited to email addresses and account names and impacted a select group of users. We have cybersecurity measures in place that limit the impact of any potential exposure, and no passwords, credit card, payment information, or reading activity logs have been compromised.
We are confident that user passwords have not been leaked or compromised; however, we recommend that you change your password as a safety precaution. To change your password, simply:
Log into your Scribd account and go to the Account Settings of your profile
On the right-hand side of the Account Settings page, you'll see the "Change Password" link

Whatever the reason, if you need to change a PDF before you publish on Scribd, the following tools may be useful.

Scribds subscribers have access to the largest library of digital content, which includes millions of books, audiobooks, magazine and newspaper articles from the worlds leading publishers as well as original and public domain content uploaded by community of over 100 million users from 194 countries.
We believe in everyones right to share their stories, and our publishing platform encourages the exchange of ideas through user-contributed documents that range from study guides and dissertations to court cases and official government memos.
We take copyright infringement seriously and have a team dedicated to addressing any concerns. We also have policies and technologies that help us to provide protection, and we encourage our subscribers to help us by reporting any abuses.
As an additional layer of protection, Scribd developed an automated copyright protection system, called BookID, to combat copyright infringement on the platform. The system uses algorithms to compare reference samples of copyrighted works provided by publishers with materials uploaded by users. It is widely used by authors and publishers around the world to identify unauthorized use of their works online.
Yesterday upon its release, several individuals and organizations shared The Mueller Report with their communities using Scribds publishing platform. Later in the afternoon, a leading global publisher released the Report in book format, and our BookID system misidentified the content as copyright protected. As such, user uploaded copies were removed from our system.
Upon learning of the removal, the Scribd team immediately reinstated all user-uploaded versions of The Mueller Report, and it has been correctly earmarked as public domain so that automatic removals through BookID will cease.
We are thankful to our community members who alerted us to the systems error, and we look forward to continuing to serve our communities of readers who use Scribd to share ideas with the world and publishers and authors who trust us to protect their copyrighted content.

Downloading Titles in the Scribd App
If you're on your mobile device with the Scribd App installed, just browse through the library per usual, select a title, and then select the Download option on the book's about page.
After its fully downloaded, you'll be able to enjoy the book from beginning to end with or without an active internet connection. Should you find yourself interested in all sorts of titles, you can store multiple at one time for all the offline reading you can handle! To find the list of all the titles you've downloaded for offline access, simply head over to your Saved titles, turn on the 'Downloaded' toggle, and find the titles you've stored any time.
Keep in mind that books stored on your device can only be opened through the app and we don't permit access to a stored book's file.
Removing a Download in the Scribd App
To remove a title from your device for offline reading, first go to your Saved titles, then tap the trashcan icon below the Listen/Read button of the title you'd like to remove. After selecting that icon, confirm your decision on the popup that appears tap Remove and youre all done!

Offline Reading on Your Computer
You won't be able to download premium subscription content when using Scribd's website, but you'll still be able to enjoy offline reading on a computer with many documents that have been enabled for downloading. If a document is available to save to your computer, you'll see a 'Download' option above the document viewer.

Ultimately, it's up to publishers to decide how they want their work to be accessed. Some publishers disable downloading for specific titles and the 'Download' option won't be shown for those titles. You'll still be able to enjoy them on Scribd's website or store them for offline reading on our app, but they won't be directly downloadable or printable.
Remember:in order to read any downloadable content, you'll need to have the correct software -- such as Acrobat Reader or Microsoft Office -- installed on your computer. Otherwise, you won't be able to view the file you've downloaded.
Scribd doesn't believe there's any reason to be without a good book, so go out and enjoy some offline reading today!
It's always so frustrating when you find a title you like, you've seen the orange 'Download' option so you know you can have it for offline reading, and it just won't download properly.
There's a few things to test to see what's going wrong and why you're not getting that title after clicking that orange 'Download' option. Your web browser may be blocking the download or it may even be automatically saving it for you on your computer somewhere. The thing is: different browsers behave differently, so go straight to the section covering the browser you're using for a few tips to solve the problem.
Internet Explorer
If you're using Internet Explorer, it's possible it's blocking the download and if that's the case, you'll see a yellow bar at the top of the window notifying you about it. Click that yellow bar.
When you click it, you'll see the option 'Download File..' in the popup menu that appears. You'll need to select that to continue with the download. After that you'll get the opportunity to save the downloaded title on your computer in the folder of your choosing.
Firefox
Mozilla Firefox may give you the option of opening for file or saving it when you select 'Download'. If it doesn't, you'll need to access Firefox's 'Downloads' window. You can dothat by clicking the arrow in the upper right hand corner of the browser. Once you do that, you'll see all the titles that have been downloaded recently, you can open the file by clicking on it from that list or by selecting 'Show All Downloads' to get the Downloads' window (like the one on the right). Double click the title to view it.
Safari
If you're downloading from Safari and it doesn't automatically open, click on the down arrow in the upper righthand corner to view all your downloads or press option command L. That'll get all your downloads to be viewable and you can select the title you want to read from the list.
Chrome
Google's Chrome may download the title directly to your preferred downloads folder and you'll be able to find it right at the bottom of the window.
None of that worked? Other things to try!
If it's not just your browser being tricky and hiding the title from you, it could be several other issues causing the download problem. Here are a few other things to test to see what may be causing the trouble.
Check yourfirewalland/orantivirussoftware--such as McAfee, Norton, or Symantec. Make sure they're up to date and set to allow items from Scribd.com
Check your browser add-ons--such as NoScript, FlashBlock, or AdBlock. Make sure they're also all up to date and configured to be okay with Scribd.com
Check the network connection. If you're on aschool or corporate network, the system administrator may have blocked access to all or parts of Scribd. Try connecting to Scribd using a different computer and/or network and try the download again.
If you're in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, or the Philippines, you may be temporarily unable to download content from Scribd due to the way Internet traffic is managed in your area. There is currently no solution for this issue. You'll need to try again at a different time.
Another reason for the download not working is if you're trying to use a download manager. Don't do that. Download managers don't agree with the system and that will cause issues for you. Use your browser's built-in download function when accessing content on Scribd.
Also try:
Try clearing your browser's cache and restarting it
Double-check your browser is configured to accept cookies from Scribd.com
And definitely make sure you're using the latest version of your browser to download content
