How does the daily challenge scoring work?
Daily challenge scoring is tied to the timing and accuracy of how players interact with the notes on the screen. If you tap on the notes when they are exactly on the horizontal line of the screen (two-thirds of the way down), then you will earn the maximum number of points. You will earn fewer points if you tap on a note when it is further away from the horizontal line. The best way to get a high score is by building up a note streak, which creates a point multiplier which in turn gives you a better chance at ending up on the leaderboard. If you slow down the notes at the beginning, you will not be able to get the highest possible score since you will not be able to attain the highest possible point streaks.
What is Sing! Jams in Magic Piano?
Sing! Jams allows users to play piano with performances from vocalists in the Smule app, previously known as the Sing! app.
How do I find a Sing! Jams song?
You can find Sing! Jams songs in the songbook. These songs have a microphone icon to the left of their title.
Is there any way to save my Sing! Jams performance and share it with the rest of the world?
There is no way to share a Sing! Jams performance at this time, but we are definitely considering adding this feature in the future!
Im having trouble getting a song to load. What should I do?
Please check your internet connection and make sure youre online. If youre still having issues, please email support at [email protected].
How are Sing! Jams vocalists selected?
Sing! Jams vocalists are previous winners of Guitar Idol, which is a competition held in Sing! to pick default singers for the Guitar! app. To become a Sing! Jams vocalist yourself, simply check out the current Guitar Idol song selections, sing one of the songs, and hashtag the performance with #guitaridol. If you are chosen as a winner, you will be featured as the vocalist once we add that particular song to Sing! Jams.
How do I turn down the volume for the singers?

How can I play the song without the singing?
In the pre-song screen where you select the difficulty of the song, you can toggle Sing! Jam vocals to OFF in the top left corner.

Will Magic Piano work on my Android device?

Why can't I install Magic Piano on my Galaxy S II (or other Android device)?
For some devices where we know there are issues, we have restricted installs for now. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S II has audio bugs in the phone itself that make the Magic Piano experience... well, not so magical. However, Android hardware and software are constantly improving so if we are able to support some of these devices in the future we absolutely will!
Why Can't I Hear All the Notes on My Sony Xperia Device?
Upgrading your Sony Xperia device to Android 5 or above will make every note play in Magic Piano.
Can I use Smoola that I purchased on the iOS App Store, Google Play or Amazon Appstore on any device?
We love that you have tried multiple versions of Magic Piano, but you are not currently able to share currency across platforms or apps. All versions of the app downloaded from the same source will share songs an smoola if you sign in to your account!
How do I log in with Facebook?
First you need to already have a Facebook account. Click the cloud icon on the top left corner to bring up the slide-out menu bar. Click on your user name, and then click Connect to Facebook. You will be asked to confirm your credentials and give permission.
Hey, my songs and Smoola are gone! I only see the original three free songs what's going on?!
There are two things that could be happening.
You were logged out and went offline, the app couldn't get your songlist, so it shows a default list. When you get back online log in and your songlist should come back.
You were logged out or you logged in while our servers were down. You will have to wait till we can get them back up, then log in again and your songlist should come back.
If you were logged in while offline, or logged in while the servers were down, you can still play any and all of the songs that you own and are downloaded.
Not all the notes respond when I play three- or four-finger chords.
Some touch screens are more sensitive than others. For many screens, spreading your fingers out slightly will improve detection of individual touches.
I'm having trouble playing with more than two fingers. What do I do?
The capabilities of touch screens differ from device to device. If your device is capable of using more than two fingers and you still have trouble, it may be possible you have some sort of system "gestures" enabled.
Many HTC devices, for example, come with "HTC Gestures" enabled by default, which can basically prevent any other app from using three- or four-finger input. You should be able to check your device settings for these and disable them to use Magic Piano fully. (They'll likely be in "Display/Keyboard" settings.)
Some of the buttons look too big or too small on my device.
Because there are so many different sizes of Android screens, some assets may appear stretched or compressed on some phones. As we release updates, we will include fixes for many of these.
What are all these permissions you're asking for?
Android helpfully informs you of all the features of your phone that an app can access, however it's not always clear why. Read on for a description of exactly what Magic Piano does with each of these permissions.

For instance, if a user says they are a celebrity or a high profile user, the Smule verification process lets us check them out and, if everything is accurate and true, add a verification badge to their profile. This helps assure you and our other users that when you sing with a user with a Partner Artist badge or a Verified User badge they are who they say they are.

View ArticleWho can add a song to Smules Songbook?
Anyone with a Smule account can add a song to the Songbook. If youdon'thave one, you can sign up at www.smule.com or download any of our apps and register there.
How do I add a song to the Songbook?
You first need a backing track of your song that doesnt include vocals. For more details on the kinds of files you can upload, see"Ican'tupload my file. Why not?"below.
Once you have that, sign into your Smule account at www.smule.com and click the green Upload button at the top right.
Click the Songbook option on the right.
Select and upload your backing track. Again, it shouldnt include vocals so singers in the app can sing over it.
Enter the title and artist of your song. If we already have it in our system, well suggest a match.
On the next screen, enter additional information to help other users find and select your song.
If youd like to include lyrics, make sure that option is turned on and go to the next screen.
Enter the lyrics for your song. Then, you can choose which lines belong to which singing part for duets and groups. You can specify two parts for duets and between three and eight for groups; if you set duet parts without group parts, Smule will automatically adapt your duet parts for group singing, too.

What's a backing track and how do I make one?
A backing track is a recording of a song with all the instruments, but no lead vocals. It usually includes drums, piano and/or guitar, synths, and bass. Many different recording programs allow you to create songs using built-in synthesizers and drum machines and to record yourself playing instruments.
A couple of our favorite inexpensive and easy-to-learn options are:
Stagelight by OpenLabs ( Windows, Android, macOS )
GarageBand by Apple ( macOS, iOS )
You'll need to convert any uncompressed .wav or .aiff files into .mp3 or .m4a before uploading (see "I can't upload my file. Why not?" below).
Can I add a song on my mobile phone or tablet?
No. You can only add a song on your desktop or laptop computer.
Can I see if the community is singing my song? What about other stats?
Yes! Log into www.smule.com and go to the Songs section of your profile. Click on the song you're interested in. On the right side of the page, you can see how many recordings users have made of your song. Can I add a song privately?
No. When you add a song to the Songbook, it's public for other singers to find and sing it.
How are songs that users add different from songs that Smule creates?
Users can time each line of a song's lyrics, whereas Smule's producers can time each syllable or word of the lyrics. In addition, Smule's producers add pitch lines to each song to tell singers which notes to sing throughout the song; this feature is not currently available for users adding songs to the Songbook.

In order to fully close the app, you must go to your Home screen, and then double-click the Home button again. This will show AutoRap (and your other open apps) at the bottom. Hold down AutoRap until it starts shaking and shows the red dash. Press the red dash to close the app.
Why does it keep chopping up my words in weird places?
AutoRap uses speech detection technology to figure out how best to segment and repeat phrases that you speak, to mimic the structure of a real rap song. It has been designed to work on all languages, so it can sometimes make decisions that seem silly. If you don't like the way it's segmented your speech, just select "Change Beat" and re-AutoRap it, and it'll try again!
Why is there no sound?
This probably means that the audio engine did not initialize properly. Try closing and re-launching the app.
Why is my voice so soft in the recording?
While recording, make sure you are talking / rapping directly into the mic. If you hold the device too far away from your mouth, or talk very softly, your voice may sound too low in the recording.
What are all these permissions you're asking for?
Android helpfully informs you of all the features of your phone that an app can access, however it's not always clear why. Read on for a description of exactly what AutoRap does with each of these permissions.

Photos/Media/Files
You can choose a photo from your Library to upload to your profile or save as your album art.
Microphone
This is a vocal app which means you will be using your microphone to sing or rap with the app.
Wi-Fi Connection Information

Device ID & Call Information
We use this to create a unique, non-personally identifiable ID for each device which helps us to administer, troubleshoot and improve the app services.

No, your piano is working correctly. To use "Magic Piano", go to solo mode and touch the surface of the device with your fingertips. Playing the spiral or circular keyboards will let you chose precisely the notes you wish to play. Playing in Free mode, wherever you touch on the screen generates a pleasing note. You can't miss!

When you are in solo mode (spiral or circular), touch two fingers vertically on the right side of the device screen. Why did you pick colors with such little contrast for songbook mode, what about us color-blind people?
We will fix that with a future update.
Songbook mode sounds out of tune, and writing says something is too far to one or other side, why?
There are two different modes that you can use to either concentrate on just playing the correct rhythm of the piece or to challenge yourself more by having to tap the screen in the right place - if you miss the note, it sounds out of tune. Also, if you tap a chord with too many fingers, it will sound out of tune as well.To choose the mode you are using, go to the Settings menu and turn perfect pitch on or off.
Hey, my songs and Smoola are gone! I only see the original three free songs what's going on?!
