Frequently Asked Questions About Snapfish

  • You can download JPG copies of your photos (up to 500 at a time) from your account to your computer. The photos will be downloaded in one or more zipped files, which you can extract to a folder on your computer. Since photos are of the same resolution as you uploaded, we provide them in batches of 50 from either your photo album displays (MY PHOTOS) or from an individual album.

Note: Download options do not appear when browsing with smartphones or other small mobile devices because you must have sufficient screen resolution to see them. We recommend you run your monitor full size, and at least 1280x1024.

To download photos, follow these steps.

Select the albums you want to download from MY PHOTOS or select the individual photos from an open album.

Click the Options menu on the bottom left of the screen, and click Download (see right).

Depending on your browser you will likely be asked what you want to do with the file(s) to be downloaded. This query is usuallywhetheryou want to Save or Open your zipped file, oryou may be asked if you want to downloadmore than one file,if you've selected more than 50 photos. Most browsers download your file(s) to your Download folder by default.

If you choose to Open the zipped file(s), you can Extract them directly to a folder on your computer.

If you choose to Save the zipped file(s), first navigate to your Download folder and then double-click a file to open it. Then extract the photos to the folder you want.

Note: The zipped file or files willshow inyour computer with names starting with "MyPhotos". See the example (on right) where 184 photos were downloaded in 4 files. Photos within each zipped file are in JPG format.

More information you might find helpful...

Can I upload in any browser?

We support Internet Explorer 10, Safari 6, Firefox 12, Chrome 20 and up.

What is the difference between Standard and Full photo resolution when uploading?

When you choose standard resolution, we remove unnecessary stuff in the file to slightly compress the uploaded photo. This reduces the file size and helps us offer you unlimited photo storage.

This helps us offer you unlimited photo storage, which we know you love.

Standard Resolution works for most products.

Full Resolution adds photos without applying compression, so it's better for larger posters, canvases, panels, and blankets.

Why don’t photos appear in the order I uploaded them?

We upload three images at once, so we can add them to your library faster. But you can change the display settings in your library to view photos by date uploaded or date taken.

You can also change the order of your photos within an album by clicking the REARRANGE icon under the album name and dragging and dropping photos to the desired position. Click DONE when ready and your photos will remain in this order.

Are there any limitations on images I can upload to Snapfish?

Yes. Snapfish supports almost all JPG/JPEG and PNG images produced by modern cameras and smartphones. However, we don't support the following file types and sizes:

Any image file type other than those listed above (we cannot upload GIF, BMP, TIFF, PSD, AI, PDF, WEBP, or any other image file types)

    Images larger than 150MB

Images larger than 100 megapixel (MP)

    Video and audio files

In addition, not all JPG/JPEG files are supported. Currently, we only support 8-bit RGB and sRGB color space. This excludes certain JPG file types such as JPEG2000 (or JP2). If any of your images don't fit our standards, you'll be alerted.

PNG file uploads are converted to JPG in our system, and any alpha channel transparencies within them will not be preserved. Transparencies will appear white in your online version.

Can I still email my photos to my account?

No, sorry, this feature is not available

  • We offer many deals and sales on items throughout the year, and most of them require a promo code. Below are some general tips about using promo codes.

It's a good idea to jot the promo code down when you see it, or save it to your clipboard so you don't have to go looking for it during check out.

Most promo codes can’t be used with others. See details in the DEALS page or the email that you recieved about the offer.

Shipping is not normally included. Sometimes, we’ll surprise you with offers that include shipping too.

Most promo codes apply to mail orders only.

Promo codes may be available or restricted to purchases on the web site, or in our mobile apps, or both.

    To use your promo code:

Create the product or print order associated with the offer and add it to your cart.

    Click the cart icon.

Near the bottom of your cart page, enter the code in the Promo Code box, like shown below. Make sure to use the exact spelling of the code, or it will not work.

Tap or click APPLY to see the new discounted price (see below).

Optional: You may click the Remove link (shown above) if you choose to use a different promo code, or a credit for the product.

  • To order prints or any photo project you must follow these steps.

First create an account, if you do not already have one.

If you don't have any photos in your account, and want to order a photo product you can upload your photos to your account now, or wait and do it after you've chosen a product.

Then you'll need to either create a print or photo product project and upload photos within the builder screens, if needed, or choose a non-photo product from our store pages and skip the next step (e.g. see Canvas Art Collection and minimal customization products for more info).

Once created and reviewed, add the project to your cart.

In your cart, you'll need to need to review and make any changes to your order. Changes you may need to do include changing shipping address, or shipping method for mail orders, or store location for pick up orders, as well as adjusting product quantities and entering coupon codes. Shipping to Canada

The date you can expect your one-of-a-kind Snapfish items to arrive depends on two things: 1) the amount of time it takes us to make them (up to three days), and 2) the shipping method you select.

Important: When you place your order we provide you the total shipping cost, but each item included in your order ships separately once it's finished. Items may also ship a day or two apart because some take longer to make than others. When each item is shipped, you'll receive notification from us that your purchase is on its way!

See how to Track your order.

Shipping times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Deliveries may take longer, especially before holidays, and shipping to Alaska and Hawaii takes 4 additional business days.

For Expedited or Rush shipping, no signature is required.

There is NO SATURDAY DELIVERY for Expedited and Rush shipping and these shipping methods are not available for PO Box addresses.

Depending on your shipping address, you may not see all 4 of our delivery options. We have optimized the display to eliminate any shipping methods that would cost you more but deliver the product in the same amount of time.

  • My Favorites is an album we created just for you that includes only the photos you mark as your favorites. You can get to your Favorites from the Photos tab on MY PHOTOS (see below).

Note: If you haven't flagged any photos as favorites, your favorites album will be empty.

To add a photo to My Favorites, just follow either of these steps:

Mouse over a photo and click the star icon to add it as a favorite.

If the photo is narrow, the star may not appear, so click the gear icon and choose Mark as Favorite.

    Or:

Open the photo detail page for the photo you want to favorite.

Click the star icon at the top of the page. You'll see underneath the star icon the word "FAVORITE" (see below).

If the icon is blue, you've added the photo to your Favorites album; if the icon is white, you've removed it (note that the icon is white by default).

Tip: MY FAVORITES doesn't function like the albums you create, so you can't edit the name or date or add/delete photos from it like you can with your other albums.

  • You can insert a page using +/- menu in the book builder (see below). There are several options for doing this. You can add two pages (a sheet) at the current location. In the example below you see pages 6-7. "Add 2 Pages" will insert two blank pages as pages 6-7. The yellow flower page will become page 8. You can also "Add Left Page" or "Add Right Page." These will insert a blank page as page 6 or 7 respectively, and add a blank page at the end of the book. This is because when you add a page, you're adding a sheet (two pages). You cannot add a single page to a physical book. So we add the second page to the end of the book.

  • When you select a photo on a page, you can remove the photo by clicking the trash icon on the photo tool bar (see below).

Viewing the images you've used in your photo book, calendar or other project

Removing a photo from a page only removes it from that page. If it used in any other page, it will remain there. Also when you delete a photo, its frame or container remains on the page. You can either ignore it or delete the frame (an empty frame won't appear when printed). The image below shows an empty photo space on a book page after the photo has been removed. If you click the trash can again it will delete the frame too.

If you want to completely delete a photo from your project, after removing all instances of it from your book, you need to delete it from the photo well in the project. For more information about the photo well, see .

Note: deleting a photo from the project doesn't remove it from your photo library.

    Aligning corners

    Aligning middles and centers

    Aligning across book pages

Aligning multiple objects on a page or project is easy with our alignment guides, which appear as pink lines when you drag a photo, text box, or embellishment across the workspace.

The alignment guides may appear at the top, bottom or middle of the object when you are moving the object vertically.

Likewise, if you are moving the object horizontally, they may appear on the left, right or center of the object.

If you are moving the object diagonally, both the vertical and horizontal alignment guides may appear at the same time.

Use the guides when you drag an object, so that the guides line up with the sides, centers or middles of the object you are dragging. When the blue boxes and diamonds surrounding the object are centered on a guideline from another object, the objects are aligned, as shown in the comparison below of the alignment choices available.

    Object not aligned vertically

    Object aligned vertically

    At top

    At middle

    At bottom

    Object not aligned horizontally

    Object aligned horizontally

    On left

    At center

    On right

    On left

    At center

    On right

Note: It can be much easier to align objects using the Shuffle, Layout, or Shuffle Gallery features, especially if you have many things to align.

Several examples using the alignment guidelines are shown below.

    Aligning corners

At the top left corner of the page example below you can see both the horizonal and verticle alignment guides. Since the text box is shorter than the photos on its right, only the top verticle guideline is appearing, whereas all three horizonal guidelines show because the text box is the same width as the photos below it.

Note: In the case above, the text box is set to align left in the text menu options (shown on right). If you were trying to align a text box on the other side of the page, it would be easiest to set the text to align on the right of the box, to take advantage of the guides, and align the text box with photos below it.

Aligning across the middle or center of other objects

Dragging the large photo in the example below, you can see both the horizontal and vertical alignment guides for the horizontal centers of the smaller photos, and the vertical middle of the photo above and the text box below it.

Also notice in the screen above, you don't see the guides for the top, bottom, left and right of the photo, because it is much larger than the photos around it. If the photos were the same size, as shown in the example below, all the vertical and horizontal guides show.

    Aligning objects across book pages

Dragging a photo on a page in a book can bring in alignment guides from objects on the opposite page. And rotated objects also show alignment guides, as shown below. The top line in the screen shows that the upper corner of the image on the left page is aligned with the upper left corner of the selected photo on the opposite page.

  • Youcan change the photo book type and covers from one to another of the same size. The option to do that is in the left menu of the book builder screen. Just click the menu icon to see the available types of books. Click one to change the book. This will make a copy of the book with the upgraded book typewhile a copy of the original book project with the original type is saved to your Projects page.

Once the copy is made, the new book project is what you will see in work space, and since it is independent, any edits to the new book are not updated in the original book project.

Note: Make sure to review each page of the upgraded book (and/or the original book) before ordering.

    Limitations

Currently available only for books of the same size.

Depending on the type of book you are creating, you may see fewer or no other book types.

  • You can easily add text or captions to most projects, and we have many fonts and colors to choose from. You have two options to add text. They each depend on your page layout:

If your page does not contain a text box

Open the Text menu on the left (see example).

Click the Add Text icon at the bottom of the menu.

A text box with a blue border will open in the middle of the page (see below). Type in your text first, as it's easier to do before moving the text box or making other changes.

Note: You can include most special characters (e.g.,,,, etc.) by copying them from the web or a word processing program and pasting them into the text box. You cannot type them into the box directly.

Next, you can change the font, the color or text alignment in the Text menu. Changes apply to all text in the box. Doing so will turn the border on your text box from blue (insert mode) to white (move mode), as shown below.

    In move mode, you can

    delete the box

drag the bottom "handle" left or right to rotate the text box

drag and drop the text box to another place on the page, or

drag one of the text box corners or midpoints outward to increase the text box size and allow for more space to type or larger fonts.

If your page already contains a text box

For page layouts that already include a text area, including spine text on books, click the Add Text area to select the text box.The border of the box will turn to white dashed lines with circles at the corners and diamonds at the midpoints of each side (see below).

Note: The front of many cards have sample text for name, address, etc. instead of the Add Text message, but they work the same way. Just click one to edit the text.

Click within the box and when the border turns blue (see below), type away!

As above, you can add special characters by copying them from the web or a word processing file and pasting them into the text box.

Next, you can change the font, the color or text alignment in the menu. Changes apply to all text in the box.

For most text boxes, except spine text on books and text areas on the front of many card designs, you can enter move mode by clicking the edge of the box to:

    delete the box,

drag and drop the text box to another place on the page, or

drag one of the text box corners or midpoints outward to increase the text box size or shape to allow for more space to type or larger fonts.

Avoid putting dark text on a dark photo or background, or light text on a light photo or background, because you won't be able to see your text!.

The maximum font size you can choose depends on the text box height and width. If you want a larger font, first increase the text box size by dragging one of the corners outward. Then, choose a larger font size in the menu (see example on right).

If you need more space for text, enlarge the text box as shown and described above.

If you drag a text box across the page, you will see pink lines appear when the box is aligned with photos, embellishments or other text boxes. For example, near the corner of a page you can see both the horizonal and verticle alignment guides (see below).

  • It is always our goal to print your order exactly as it appears on the review page. But in some situations, photos may appear darker than you expected when they arrive There are several reasons that can cause this, and these are summarized below followed by solutions:

    Monitor brightness

If monitor brightness is set too high, the image may look fine onscreen, but when it is printed out, prints or project appear much darker than you expect, with a loss of detail in shadow areas. Note: we cannot get a perfect match of the image onscreen versus what you see on the printed product since the screen emits light while the printed product reflects it. In all cases, the printed result is always a bit darker than the screen image.

    Back lighting

This can happen when the subject of your photo has a natural dark hue because it was taken against the light.

Printing on a canvas, fleece and some card textures

Materials like canvas and fleece absorbs the color which mutes the image brightness and vibrancy even further

Reordering or asking us to resubmit the same project will not correct the problem, so for all the causes listed above, we recommend editing the project photos, or substituting any dark photos with brighter ones. To edit the project using the same images, we suggest that you first ensure your monitor brightness is not set too high, and then increase the brightness of the photos within the project by doing one of these things:

For prints: Click Edit below individual images in the prints builder. Then click the ENHANCE tab to adjust the brightness

For other projects: Click an image, and then select the Edit link. The ENHANCE tab opens by default.

Drag the Brightness controller to the right to increase the brightness.
